  1. Wow I remember when Billy started this thread back when this board started. Since then I picked up 2 'Grail' kits the 63 Pontiac Bonneville mint in the box and 58 Ford with stock parts only, but along the way I got some I didnt know were on my list until they appeared in front of me. Is that how this 'grail' thing works?
  2. Hi and welcome David, fun is the key to this hobby, frustration and worry is reserved for everyday life, so just have fun.
  3. Hello Gary, sounds like the same story from our age bracket.
  4. Nice job scratch building the trailer, just enough rough spots to look aged. The 40 looks pretty good also.
  5. That's this one, the multi piece chassis. Then the 59 Rambler wagon that Okey brought out had the promo style plate. When these came out loaded with extra items and multiple ways to build.3 full decal sheets and a note from Okey
  6. Testors made a few kits that Johan did, may have been HSO kits , also came with pot metal wheels for whatever reason.
  7. Many of the older build up Johans I ever bought were never painted, but the young builder glued on every custom part in the box.
  8. Im pretty sure Jo-han even did some aircraft kits back in the day .
  9. The Lark kit seems bigger than 1/25th , some had green promo glass, some were molded in odd colors or had wrong interiors . I have alot of Johans or Jo-han and like them all, except the short shots.
  10. That build looks awesome from any angle, nice work.
  11. Built this using decals that came in an issue of scale auto. All I started with was the body, combined it with parts from the Chevy coupe and parts box.Build is in my Fotki. Another old build,. I only had the body given to me combination 51/53-4 Chevy kits dropped on a Revell 55 Chevy chassis and interior Sold these when I was thinning out the collection a few years back.
  12. I chose a 40s style paddy wagon street rod, I have no direction, just build and change things as I go. With roof off I started cutting out wall for security windows. The back half is 1/2 inch thick sometimes more at the top which explains why cutting the roof off took so long. Rear tires are the kit tires mounted on super deep wheels from the Barris T buggy. Fronts are part box tires with matching T buggy front wheels. Altering the front axle was easy to accommodate tires and wheels, the rear needs to be narrowed to fit wide wheels and dual tires under the body.
  13. WOW that DeSoto is awesome John . Thats a whole lotta chrome work . Nice work.
  14. That Plymouth could not get any better, that chrome looks flawless.
  15. Very cool build, just enough weathering , paint wear and under the hood touches , good job.
  16. I remember the cars on the spike at the mall on harlem ave in the south suburbs of chicago, they got rid of the spike o' cars and the flat pinto on the wall some time ago.
  17. Hello Paul and welcome.
  18. Body was painted and stripped ,engine built but not painted , the rest is fine
  19. Splitting time between a few builds I was able to finish all the way to the primer stage, Went to LHS and picked up paint and went through my decal stash and found Slixx and Gofer sets.
  20. I still have a few options for hobby related items, it seems all the hobby shops left in my area are trains first all else second but thats what keeps the doors open. And I thought olive pit carving was a lost art.
  21. Model boxes are great storage for resin bodies and parts to complete them, they stack well.
  22. Hello Wayne and welcome
