Slow work, doing 2 resin kits at 1 time. Trying to get a 1/25 figure inside without cutting his legs off raise the roof a little, drop the floor a little more. Framed up the left window and used brass for security screen. Framed back area using brass rod for jail bars. Using filler to cover seams when epoxy cures.

With all the great box art that has been posted, sometimes its odd to see wrong art work. I only had 2 but Im sure there are more. Hasagawa did a series of 1966 kits a Cadillac, Thunderbird, Buick, Pontiac and a Chevy. The Chevy is a 1965 on the box and contents. AMT 1937 Chevy modified Buyers Choice was released with 1936 Plymouth artwork then corrected the same year. Contents with 36 Plymouth on box is 37 Chevy. 1965 last year for 409.

BIGTRUCK replied to IceMan Collections's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)

I dont collect Diecast , not that theres anything wrong with it I just dont need to start collecting something new. A friend of mine gave me a super duty ford bucket truck thats super duty cool. We worked together hauling for the utilities before I left for my current employment. Box states 1/34th but it looks bigger and it doesnt say who manufactures these, just Altec the one that builds 1:1 trucks. Doors open, hood opens, tires steer, front suspension works , outriggers slide out and go down, bucket swings and telescopes out pretty far, really nice item.

Money spent on this hobby

I've thinned mine out also Nick , sticking to buying mostly older kits and resin, but I guess if you need insurance you probably have to much, oh well. -
Hi Izzy, I've been to 3 in Texas, M&M HOBBY CENTER in Bellaire Tx close to Houston and Larry Hobbies in Houston they were OK but I do remember one of them having a real car above the store sign. The best hobby shop was in Irving Tx called Wild Bills, that place was packed with stuff, and an RC track in back outside, but if your time is limited Wild Bills is north 5 hours. I drove a tractor trailer to these places so you in a rental car should be a breeze.

Money spent on this hobby
BIGTRUCK replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Your right ,I had to take pictures of all insured items with box open unless its sealed and put it on disc plus a spread sheet of description as proof if a claim is made. My policy is not set up for replacement value, I have it set up for what I paid for some of it. The policy for replacement was costly. Im down to 850 kits. Im playing the odds I never need it. -
I had to upgrade my home owners insurance and added my kits to the policy. It added $90.00 a year for $10,000 worth of coverage. I started adding up how much I had spent over the last 10 years and WOW between what I buy, travel to out of town shows couple times a year the amount gets up there. Funs not as cheap as it use to be the cost sneaks up on you a little at a time.?

Maybe they will have some clam chowder for your figure Nick, Dick Portillo sold to a Boston investment company for a cool billion.

1948 ford custom coupe revell

IMC or the Testors release of the IMC tooling. Older stuff but not hard to find. -
Everybody seems to have a set of these wood trays around the house or saw them cheap somewhere. We had 3 of 4 and the carrier stand was wobbly so the wife bought new ones. I took the old ones and lightly sanded the tops took some old classic newsprint model ads foam, brushed some clear gloss on the backs and mounted them on the trays.Once they were where I wanted them I brushed a few more coats on top. I let them sit a day and put on 2 more coats. They work with gloss comic book covers or subject you want.

Snake, I'm not saying your wrong I'm saying it just never happen to you yet, your lucky on that, but I am surprised you never came across this topic or heard of it before. It has happened to me on yellow plastic, not all yellow plastic and not all red plastic. Why one primer will cover red plastic from one model company without bleed through on final color and allow bleed through from another model company. For me it never happens on primer coats. Maybe your onto something.

"Holy Grail" Models?
BIGTRUCK replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow I remember when Billy started this thread back when this board started. Since then I picked up 2 'Grail' kits the 63 Pontiac Bonneville mint in the box and 58 Ford with stock parts only, but along the way I got some I didnt know were on my list until they appeared in front of me. Is that how this 'grail' thing works?
