The Broncos I posted earlier were quickly found using duckduckgo image search. I was born in 79, and I don't recall seeing any when they were newish. My guess is any that were factory original may have been fleet vehicles?

53 Ford F100 custom wheels
Rbray47 replied to Modlbldr's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Are those hubcaps a real design, or completely custom? -
HL in Nicholasville Ky had most of the new releases. I went specifically for the Supra, found it, and also left with the Bronco. Walmart in the same town had the 64 Olds hardtop for $22, so I bought it as well. I hate the new prices (especially at HL) as well. It is what is. I also didn't like paying $30k for my 1:1, but that's the world we live in now.

Looking good! I haven't built one of these yet, but I plan to. In 65, my dad bought a new one in black. While he was in Vietnam, my mom got into an accident with it. When the car was being fixed, she had it painted pink lol. Dad wasn't happy, so he bought another one after he got home. The only thing that will give me trouble is, hers had a white roof rack.

With Testor's getting hard to find...
Rbray47 posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
...is there a list somewhere that shows equivalents? I'm getting ready to start another reproduction of models from my childhood. I need Testor's Ruby Red spray. I think I can use Tamiya Mica Red over black (car in question was Ruby Red over black) Also, I used their Jade Green metal flake a lot. I haven't seen that in a while either. -
Monogram 55 F100

Thanks for the compliments guys! I have been slowly building kits from my childhood that I messed up. This one is a replica of a build from the 90s, and I tried to replicate the look I was going for back then. The GN engine is from another one from around the same time that was broken at some point. You can see the Testors Chezoom Teal paint on the block that matched the car lol -
Just finished today. I shaved the body and filled in the fuel cap area, lowered it, and added a Buick GN V6. Paint is Rustoleum Sun Yellow over Mr Hobby primer.

As a child of the 80s, I'm sad to say that I've never built this kit. Although I did find part of one in a box of parts I bought at a thrift shop. I think I reused the wheels on something, but that's about it. I'd like to give this kit a try sometime.

I like where this one is going. I too, take years and years to finish a custom build.

Any suggestions on paint selection?
Rbray47 replied to V8tiger's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I recently tried Mr Surfacer 1000 light gray primer from Hobby Lobby. I sprayed Rustoleum Sun Yellow over it. Very bright and went on smooth, it just took a few coats to cover. -
That looks awesome

First for me was a Monogram snap Dodge Daytona. It was still a new car, so about 85 or 86. I was 6 or 7. What got me interested was my older brother's models. He came home from the Navy with several he had built. He put them on display in my other brother's room. He says he doesn't know what happened to them, but eventually I'd like to recreate them. I did build a replica of the only one that wasn't finished. MPC Dodge Supercharger 74 Charger. He had sprayed it black and that was as far as he'd gotten. I painted mine black too.

You're right. Now I remember seeing a few when I was a kid. Also, my high school best friend bought a 78 that had been pieced together from several trucks. Talk about confusing. Well, the title said 78, anyway. It didn't look like one. It was originally a manual cab. The clutch pedal was wired to the floor, and there was an auto shifter on the transmission tunnel. The shifter put a dent in the bench seat when placed in drive lol

This kit has a lot wrong with it, but the average person probably wouldn't notice most of it. The windshield has to be fixed. If using the 78/79 grill, the gas cap needs to be replaced with a rectangular fuel door. The lower body trim isn't supposed to be on a 78/79. I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting, as it's been a couple of years since I built the last of mine.

Salvinos JR 1/25 Tour Type Modified
Rbray47 replied to Justin Porter's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I can see a lot of these being rebodied. -
Thanks for the help everyone. I'm not too worried about having to modify a part. I just hoped there was something that fit pretty good from get go.
-
Does anyone know where to source one? Or a good one to modify? I was looking at the kits on ebay and the pics of the parts trees do not show one.

Lindberg Ford F-150.

Nice looking build! I have one of these somewhere. I think it came from Ollie's cheap. -
Post your truck mockups.

Liking it so far What rims are those? -
Great looking build! Aoshima has made LHD BRZ kits, although they are the first gen. I don't know if they have have produced the updated model like Tamiya has. The interiors are slightly different between the two gens. Converting the Tamiya kit will also require the LHD firewall from the Aoshima kit.

Dupli-colour paint, clear coat question.
Rbray47 replied to thatjellyfish's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Which exact primers are you guys using under the Duplicolor? I've used Duplicolor in the past with great results, but my primer was 20ish year old Plasitcote that I don't think is available now. -
Like the title says, has anyone turned this kit prostreet? Or have any suggestions on an appropriate chassis to modify? The frame in my kit is so warped it kind of looks like a banana.
