  1. My boss this morning sent the school bus that I drive to an outside shop to have the front suspension and steering completely rebuilt. Problems with it cropped up yesterday while returning to the company from dropping off the summer camp kids in the afternoon. The mechanic looked at it and took the bus right out of service. I'm driving a spare bus in the meantime. However, I'm grateful that nothing serious happened.
  2. Cool Vega Michelle. I subscribed to your YouTube Channel. My handle there is @johnm.5848.
  3. I couldn't find a matching set of wheels and tires from my parts stash for my 1972 Chevy short side PU that I got from E Bay on the cheap awhile back that didn't have any with it. I ordered a complete set of chromed open wheels and white wall tires from Pegasus and they look great on the truck. Onward to the next project.
  4. I had the living room in my apartment painted today. My building's manager came to my apartment with a plumber last month while I was there to replace the bathroom sink and he noticed the paint was dull and peeling in a few spots. He asked me I wanted it painted and I said sure. It looks great.
  5. Many kudos to Atlantis for bringing back vintage kits like the Boss Fink. The company still has to crack open quite a few of the hundreds of vintage molds that it bought from the current owners of Revell back in 2018. Who knows what surprises that the folks at Atlantis will find inside of them.
  6. Almost six decades later, she's still sea worthy. As the old expression goes, "They Don't Make Them Like They Used To"
  7. If R2 has the tooling for the MPC 74 to 76 Pontiac Ventura 2 door, I'd like to see it reissued. Unbuilt original kits are commanding good prices when they come up on E Bay and even the built ones are going for a decent chunk of money.
  8. He appeared in a 1970 film called "Catch 22" which is one of my favorite WW2 films.
  9. I gave a bath to two very dusty model trucks that I got last week on the cheap from E Bay that are rebuilders and to my surprise both were well done. One's a 40 Ford panel truck and the other is a 72 GMC stepside both by AMT. While both are drying, I'll look through my parts stash for a few odds and ends for the 40 and wheels, tires and axles for the 72.
  10. The upper radiator hose in my Accord sprung a nasty leak yesterday as I was heading home from running some errands. Thankfully I wasn't that far from my mechanic's shop and was able to limp the car to it. The upper hose is getting replaced right now and the same for the lower hose as a precaution. Another repair bill to pay but I need the car.
  11. I'm the same way myself. Nothing wrong with being old school.
  12. Today was the last day for the school kids so I'll be kicking back from driving my school bus until a week from next Monday when summer camp starts up. (I work for a family owned company) In addition, two dusty model cars that are rebuilders arrived this morning in the mail after I scored both on the cheap off EBay. Both are designated as my next projects.
  13. Multiple choice question. What's s school bus driver's most important piece of equipment? a) Lights b) Brakes c) Horn d) A bottle of Extra Strength Tylenol
  14. I was searching for my next model car project on EBay when I saw lots of military vehicles myself listed in the automotive section. They should have their own.
  15. I just scored two vintage and very dusty rebuilders from a local E Bayer on the cheap which are a 1940 Ford delivery truck and a 1972 GMC stepside pickup both from AMT. They'll be at my place before Friday.

    '39 Chevy Coupe

The patina looks great on the car. Like peanut butter and jelly.
  17. I got through with the last two of a batch of built cars that need minor reassembly last week. Some needed the kit bashing approach but they all look good. I'm now looking for another project or two to work on myself. I'll look on E Bay this week sometime.
  18. Around 4 AM this morning as I and other residents were sleeping, a drunk was wandering around the floor of my apartment building banging on people's doors including mine as he was screaming to no end. The police came quickly after someone called them and the drunk was wisked away in cuffs. My building is normally quiet with the vast majority of the residents who are decent and have jobs. What happened this morning is a rare occurrence thankfully.
  19. I have a extended cab and regular long bed which are promos and a built stepside which I bought some years ago but no short bed. However, now that it's out, I'll snag the shortbed sometime this weekend.
  20. Even here in my Blue state of Massachusetts, the locals are not quite that fond of the Cali folks who drove here. They drive like maniacs.
  21. I can't understand the reasons why California has so many laws and regulations covering emissions. There's enough to fill an old phone book. Here in Massachusetts, once a vehicle reaches the age of 15 years. it's exempted from the emissions test but is still required to undergo the annual safety inspection.
  22. I built the factory version of the Monogram Capri II years ago straight out of the box and when it was molded in black. Like Dave Van, I'm wondering myself if Atlantis has the tooling for the kit. Hopefully, Atlantis is in contact with Ford about working out a licensing deal for the car and other Ford kits.
  23. I'll be working on the last two of two dozen built model cars today that only need minor reassembly. Both will need the kit bashing treatment but I have suitable replacement parts on hand. After that, Who knows.
  24. I was on my way to work early this morning when I heard a loud pop coming from underneath my Honda Accord and then a loud roar. I limped it to my mechanic's shop which thankfully isn't that far from my work place. He called me later in the day and said that the entire exhaust system from the cat back was coming apart from the rust and that the car will be in his shop until he can round up the replacement parts tomorrow. It won't be cheap according to him. Thankfully though , I made it to work on time.
