Is it just me or are Verizon phone rates way too high?
John M. replied to Monty's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
The Bog Boss at my company has benefited from the cellular phone business. When I went to work for him, he issued Nextel hand held two way radios to all the school bus drivers and the service was fairly pricey. When drivers started to get their own cell phones, he concluded that why should he should waste money with Nextel when he and the General Manager could reach the drivers via their cells. He ditched Nextel and saved a bundle. He could also send one or two text messages to all the drivers at once. My own flip phone has texting features. Besides making the home land line phone obsolete, cell phones have also rendered the one familiar corner pay phone the same way. -
Is it just me or are Verizon phone rates way too high?
John M. replied to Monty's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
After I got my cell phone service and flip phone from Consumer Cellular several years ago, I jettisoned my Verizon landline phone service because it kept jacking up the rates. At the time I was paying $85 a month for it versus $30 a month for my CC service. The latter included unlimited calls and voice mail so it just made economic sense plus I can be reached via my cell 24/7 where ever I'm at at home or on the road in my car or school bus. -
Another week with a good amount of extra hours behind the wheel of my school bus has ended. I got paid and I'm going to spend the weekend working on my vintage AMT 61 Ford convertible.

My late dad was a big crime drama fan and "Shaft" was one of his favorites. Richard played the role of him to a T. RIP.

I missed that one. I was occupied checking out the junkyard diorama.

I tried it Steve and the screws came out with ease after giving all four a good soaking of WD 40 and let it do it's thing overnight and the posts remained intact. The screws can be reused after gently removing the rust with a small wire brush. Thank you for the solution and to the others who responded.

Both a Both are plastic. Thanks.

My recently purchased 61 Ford Starliner convertible is a screw bottom model and the flat head screws that secure the chassis and body together are rusty as can be. Is there a method that can be used to safely remove them without damaging the posts that they tap into or a product that de rust them? I also don't want to run the risk of stripping them. I'm all ears.

Thanks Peter. That's the diorama that I saw. Thanks Peter. That's the diorama that I saw at the show.

That it was a good show. Some of the vendors were doing quite a brisk business and the models that were entered were truly awesome. One participant had a diorama of a junkyard that was among the best that I've seen.

It didn't but I have the hood and I can source the convertible cover locally from another modeler.

I just got an AMT 1962 Ford convertible from E Bay on the cheap and it's got the barn find look. The only question is, should I keep it that way or give it a complete bath. The photo of it is from E Bay.

I got in from the Classic Plastic model car show/contest in Lawrence Ma. not long ago and I scored 8 very nice builds of which the cream of the crop is an MPC 1973 Chevy Impala. (My collection is now up to 122) I also scored a decent one piece grill/bumper for my recently purchased 1960 Ford SW promo by Hubley. After the shopping spree, I checked some of the cars and trucks that were in the contest. All were sweet as can be. I had a great time overall. The trip also allowed me to give my trusty Accord some exercise on the interstate.

I have direct deposit for my paycheck and after checking my balance in my bank account, I made more money than I thought from the OT that I worked last week. Some of that will be used to continue to feed my styrene addiction at the Classic Plastic model contest on Sunday in Lawrence Mass as I check with the vendors for parts for a couple of rebuilders and the ever elusive MPC 1974 Chevy Caprice annual.

The school that I do my runs out of has early release every Wednesday at 11:30 and I can head home early and relax. Now, I'm looking forward to Friday and another weekend off. ?

It's just a though but Okey Spalding should discuss a deal with Atlantis about producing the Powell PU. It's not as big as Round Two or Revell but Atlantis has more resources than Okey has.

The last two weeks have been crazy as heck at my school bus company but things are finally starting to slow down. The General Manager had to double up the school runs for some of the drivers including me due to others having to take time off for personal matters but most are back now. It's Friday and my bank account will be a whole fatter soon enough In addition, two new drivers were hired and 6 new buses that the Big Boss bought will be coming into service early next week. I only have to my regular school this afternoon and it's off for the weekend.

Another car came in the mail as I got in early from work. It's an early AMT 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible. It has the barn find look so it's taking a bath as I type this. With it I'm up to 115 cars and trucks.

AMT The Green Hornet Black Beauty Kit
John M. replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Bringing the Black Beauty out in 1/25 scale was a good move on R2's part. It should sell well. -
I watched his YouTube channel as well. Some of his other viewers are asking the same thing. Hopefully he's OK.
