  1. This is from a local Boston TV Station. Recovery teams in Oregon pull a Ford Station Wagon from the Columbia River that may belong to a family who disappeared while on a Christmas outing back in 1959. https://whdh.com/news/mystery-solved-a-submerged-car-from-the-1950s-may-belong-to-a-missing-oregon-family/
  2. Update. The SS United States arrived in Mobile Alabama where crews will spend the next 6 months removing hazardous materials from the ship before she's sunk off the West Coast of Florida to become the world's largest artificial reef.
  3. Batteries for my wireless mouse.
  4. After decades of being moored in Philly, the legendary American ocean liner heads for Mobile Alabama under tow where she'll be prepped for her next life as an artificial reef. The Florida County of Oaklossa purchased the liner from her caretaker group that tried for years to have her restored to her former glory and to find a new homeport for her. The purchase price was $1 million. The video tells more.
  5. Normally I do some house cleaning on the weekends but I'll put all that on hold until next week. With the school kids out then, I have all the time in the world. Meanwhile, I'm binge watching the Dirty Harry movies online with a mug of hot chocolate.
  6. Ran a few tests logging in with my e mail address and it's as smooth as can be. I'm happy that our usernames can still be displayed.
  7. It's Friday and the school kids will be off next week. I won't be doing anything then except enjoy the peace and quiet. I won't be getting paid but I still have plenty of the cash that I made last November in my bank account to cover my expenses and then some. Meanwhile, the mechanics will be checking over the busses including mine to see how well the stood up to the winter thus far.
  8. Double checked everything I'm good to go. Thanks Dave.
  9. I though it was going to be a nerve racking afternoon getting the school kids home due to a snow storm that passed through New England. However, the roads well well treated, the temps went up a few degrees and it switched to all rain. The runs went more smoothy than I though.
  10. The modem for my computer gave up the ghost after nearly 10 years while I was reading the Boston Herald online yesterday morning. However, 24 hours, a new modem and tech support later, I was back into cyberspace one again. I'm lost without the computer.
  11. One of the stops that I pick the school kids up at has had a problem for awhile that really irks me. Cars are constantly running the stop sign on the bus. A mom and her son were almost ten pinned by one yesterday while crossing the street. The parents yell at them and the drivers yell back and mock them On Friday, they filed complaints with the local school board and my general manager filed one on my behalf. Hopefully it can be dealt with by the cops before a kid, parent or both are hurt.
  12. No go on the wheels Rick. i though I had a set. Sorry.
  13. I may have the turbine wheels from The General Lee by MPC in my parts stash if that'll help. I'll look when I get home from work later.
  14. I'm happy that the Arctic cold temps are coming to and end in the Boston Area as is this month. It's been brutal. However, the drivers and I wouldn't have able to earn out paychecks if it weren't for the mechanics at our school bus company who were in early everyday to make sure all the busses started and ran. 95% of the fleet was up and running for all of January. The boss paid they them well. Hats off to them.
  15. If my school bus had the same set up, I'd get the kids home lickety split especially on Friday afternoons.
  16. It was great to see a stock DeLorean out in kit form instead of Doc Emmett Brown's version.
  17. The last model car that I got from E Bay was shipped by USPS and it took almost two weeks to get from Florida where the seller lives to Massachusetts. I bought cars from him before and it normally took 3 days tops to ship them. The tracking number wasn't even updated for several days. I kept the seller in the loop about it. He told me via messaging that a couple of other buyers had the same problem.
  18. My way of spending a snowy evening. A hot drink, reading a good book, an open fireplace and listening to smooth jazz music.
  19. The Boston area has only received about 8 inches of snow so far and none is expected in the immediate forecast. We're not ruling out a major storm or two in February though.
  20. I went out earlier to brush off my car after last night's snow storm and a couple of neighbors couldn't get their cars started because of the cold temps. Their cars were much newer than mine but the the trusty Accord successfully jumped started both. Awhile later, one came to my apartment with a large cup of hot chocolate from Dunkins and the other came later with a couple of apple turnovers. I'm just glad to have been there to help them.
  21. Got some food shopping done earlier and will be hunkering down for a snow storm that's coming in early Sunday. 5 to 7 inches is expected. And no school for the little monsters on Monday. (MLK Jr's Birthday) which I'll get holiday pay for.
  22. The school that I do my runs out of cancelled all classes for Friday due to a water main break caused by the frigate temperatures that has swept my area all week. However, the other drivers and I will be getting paid for it. 🙂 It's been quite brutal but the mechanics were at the company early every morning to make sure all the buses would start Thankfully that was the case. My boss runs a tight ship.
  23. As I recall,. Atlantis listed the Nomad it's 22-23 catalog and nothing more about it afterwards. It was only speculation on my part but the company may have found hidden problems with the tooling before it was slated to go into full production. It's over 60 years old
  24. After a long delay. The company is taking pre orders for it on it's website now. Here's it's box art.
