The school kids have next week off so I'll be taking it easy as I resume a couple of model car projects that I had to put on hold because of my job and other things that needed attention.

What's with the U.S.Post office these days?
John M. replied to styromaniac's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
The trailer that I got from E Bay last month bounced between post offices around the Boston Metro area for a few days like a rubber ball before the USPS finally got it's act right and sent it to my address. I kept the seller in the loop until I could leave him a positive feedback. He said he's never heard anything like before as an E Bay vendor. -
Atlantis Models has bought another lot of tooling/molds.....
John M. replied to Dave Van's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Agreed. I read something online not long ago that stated China has claimed the tooling that was sent over there by the current Revell owners as state property. -

I saw the box of the California Street Vette in the photo. It's another Tom Daniels creation. I thought of that a couple of time before. -
Thank you for taking the time out to take photos of those old buildings and cars Brain. I had a chance to look over the photos of old gas stations in another thread that you took photos of that were just as cool.

Even in today's economy, it's good to see that we modelers here are still snapping up deals like the ones posted. ?

The latest to my growing promo fleet. A Hubley 1960 Ford sedan that I got off of E Bay an hour ago and for a song. It's missing the right windshield pillar which I can rectify w/o issues and part of the rear bumper is gone but a good used one from my parts stash is on deck to replace it. Here it is from E Bay.

My late dad had a side job pumping gas at a Sinclair station years ago that a friend of his managed. It was located on Riverside Ave, In Medford Mass. It had the company's mascot Dino The Dinosaur painted on the roof of the station. The station is still there to this day but it's a it's a self serve Sunoco. I miss the old school stations.

I got to watch the 1963 comedy classic "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" and in it's entirety last night on a site out of the UK called BitChute. It's similar to our YouTube.

Everytime I browse through the built model car section of EBay with no intention of buying, i get hit with offers of buying a car at a lower price than what the seller wants some I haven't even looked at. This weekend alone, I got with nine offers. I'm just deleting them as fast as they pop up. It's like dealing with used car salesmen who use high pressure sale tactics on anybody who is just walking past their lots.

TODAY: USS Texas was refloated and moved out of drydock
John M. replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
While the restoration work on the Texas is in it's final stages, the search for a new home for her is ongoing, I hope one is found for her soon enough. -
The latest addition to my expanding collection of promos arrived not along ago. It came courtesy of E Bay and the price was reasonable. Below is the photo of it from E bay. Now, it's time to give the old plastic a rest for awhile.

The trailer that I got from E Bay has been bounced around post offices in and around the Boston Metro Area since Saturday night courtesy of the USPS. I was suppose to have gotten it today. Now, the :"Estimated" day of arrival according to the tracking number that was provided by the seller is Wednesday. I informed him on what's going on in case he asks on why no feedback was left. I told him it was no fault of his own. He understood.

Thank you. It should arrive at my house this weekend via USPS Priority mail.

What are the must-build classic kits?
John M. replied to OldNYJim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It hasn't been re released since the 90s but my choice would be "The Hangman" tow truck from Monogram. I built one in my early modeling years in the late 70s. -
Actually, two things pleased me this week, 1) My 97 Accord was in the shop on Monday for a steering issue and the time to get it fixed took just a couple of hours for my mechanic and the bill as not as big as I though. 2) The school kids are of this week and so I'm kicking back and enjoying the peace and quiet. Meanwhile, one of the mechanics at work has my school bus in the shop for some routine upkeep.

I scored a built utility trailer on E Bay yesterday and dirt cheap. It looks a wee bit rough so It'll look good behind my equally a wee bit rough AMT early 70s Chevy Stepside PU. Here it is from E Bay.

Opps, I wanted to posted this in the Wanted section. Sorry Mods.

The 61 Ford Convertible that I threw the towel in on is still available trade. It took a second look at at and it most likely good for parts. Only the most skilled modeler can tackle it. I'll take a built trailer in trade (Not one that's hooked up to a semi) or whatever built model one may have. I'm not really that picky. Here's the car as it appeared on E Bay.

I ran into a few of those errors myself and a couple of times, I'd be logged out without warning when I never did so. I hope the gremlins were behind it all were given the boot for good.
