  1. That's great, a really clean build that looks 'right'. I like the colour choice. What issues did you have?
  2. Looks excellent, well done to you and the original builder. Great for it to have survived the years so well, definitely something that deserved just a light touch - to do any more would have robbed it of its character.
  3. Seeing this topic got me thinking. I couldn't immediately think of any that I MUST eventually have, but there's definitely a couple of gaps in my stash that I'd like to fill at some point: Datsun/Nissan produed eight generations of Laurel from 1968 to about the turn of the millennium when they killed it off. I've had several 1:1s and I have at least one version of each generation that was offered as a 1:24 kit apart from the above. In the past I have bought from HobbySearch in Japan, but even they don't list any of the three different issues being available. I'm sure one will turn up someday though. Also the Monogram Corvette America, which doesn't appear to get a lot of love: I bought one circa 1984 from a local model shop (sadly long-gone) and still have the remnants of it in the parts box. It donated its wheels to the Maserati V8 project. It's way too far gone to rebuild, but it just feels like something I have 'unfinished business' with. I missed out on one on eBay here a few years ago and don't recall seeing any others come up for sale since.
  4. Nice work! I'd love to get one of these someday.
  5. Looks great, well done! Lots of interesting opportunities with wagons, I enjoyed doing my '66 recently. Another one making good use of the Pearl Light Blue too, seems to be a really adaptable colour.
  6. Thanks Kurt. It's a nice kit, I suspect a bit simpler and easier to put together than the Heller version. I have the Heller Renault 4 and that's not one I'm rushing to start.....
  7. Excellent progress so far, I'm sure it will continue the same way and look great on completion. You definitely need to get over the suspension thing.....
  8. Thank you Leslie, that's a very kind offer. I'll have a dig around and let you know. I think they can be added after the body and chassis are joined together, if so it won't delay me getting the rest of it together. Looks good, I'd like to give one of those a go but my cheapskate bids have never yet scored one. I can imagine everything on them has a very dinky feel to it, unless you have an unusually large thumb the nicely detailed dashboard certainly looks quite small.
  9. Not worth staring a WIP thread on this one, as I hope it'll be on and off the work area very quickly: 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr A week or two back my son assembled this lot after going through my scrap/parts boxes, first built in the very early '90s. It was a memorable build, as rather foolishly I didn't wear a glove when painting it and I ended up with a Ford Signal Orange hand. It was the kit which recently donated its wheels to the '66 Chevelle Wagon, and I was then going to use its chassis and rear wings under another project. 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr However, more sifting through the parts boxes turned up pretty much everything else to put it back together. The paintwork has survived well, so I'm simply going to reassemble it. Since the above photo I've found the radiator and fan, hose, ignition module and a brake servo. The only items I'm obviously missing are the front and rear bumper brackets, but I imagine they will still be around. I even managed to locate the detached headlamp plus tiny door handles and one boot hinge that had gone astray. The exhaust manifolds and system had found their way into the Maserati V8 box, I didn't realise what they were from. Probably going to use these wheels, if I can find some suitable tyres from the spares box. They're from the Revell Camaro Ultra-Z Street Machine. Otherwise some Centerlines, or whatever I can find from another kit that looks appropriate. I want to keep the late '80s look, as it will sit well next to the Chevelle (modest scale differences aside).
  10. Great to see it finished and looking good here! The slightly recessed headlamps work well. By coincidence, I've seen an old built-up example in need of restoration come up for sale on eBay here in the UK. Currently sitting with just 1 bid at £5.99, be interesting to see what it goes for. Probably one project too many for me.....
  11. Funky! I haven't seen that version before.
  12. Worked out really nicely, it looks excellent.
  13. That looks really good, great work there.
  14. I watched that, and another video that it linked to - mad!
  15. Great to see one built, nice work Matt!
  16. I have the Heller kit. This Ebbro version looks like an easier build, with side windows that are separate to the outer door skins. Heller have a single clear moulding for the entire door and glass, so some careful masking is required. The flipside is that all four doors open.
  17. Most versions were very straightforward and unsporting, but the Turbo models were quite a hot thing back in the day and they formed the basis for rally cars. Styling on them was comically angular.
  18. Looks really good, brings back memories of the one I built back in the '90s.
  19. I enjoyed reading your WIP thread on it yesterday, finished result looks fantastic!
  20. A lovely job you've done on that, and credit due to the original builder.
  21. Definitely one that deserves only a very light touch, that's really nice.
  22. Very nice! Good plate too ?
  23. Funny thing is it'll be a solid maroon, so not too different to the red primer just a bit shinier!
  24. Thank you Rusty, I like how it's gone so far. Thanks Gary, and I will do. Taking a few photos and writing a little bit helps me focus on each stage and make sure I keep moving on. Thanks Snake! Oddly enough, I did have a similar thought about it in primer when I saw how it looked after getting the first couple of coats down. In 30+ years of spraying models I think it may be the first time I've used red primer and it does give a cool look straight out of the can - might be something to consider for another project?.......
