  1. Turned out well, it looks just right. But definitely a strange thing to be considering the middle of summer! I'm the same with my photos, the macro setting picks up things I don't notice when working on it.
  2. Excellent use of those parts, it turned out well.
  3. I woke up early, the front wing has already been repainted! Jury's out on how successful it will be, if need be I could do the whole front end again. I'll see how it polishes out this time.....
  4. It's bright! Very nicely done.
  5. Great to see one being built, for us in the UK they're one of those defining rods of the 1970s and '80s. I like what you've done so far, the colour is going to look great.
  6. Micromeshed and polished the paintwork the morning. Most of it went OK, but my fear about working on the Corvette's complicated shape was justified when I went through the ridge on one of the wing tops. As a solid colour with no clearcoat it should be feasible to repaint tat panel, and I'll keep moving on..... 1:24 Monogram 1965 Corvette kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Ah well, at least the built-up engine with all its ancilliaries fits. I've trimmed the air cleaner (not seen here) and I'm hoping to use the '92 radiator and twin electric fan set-up. 1:24 Monogram 1965 Corvette kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Since this shot I've trimmed the floorpan back slightly, I think it's there now with the stock front suspension - might not be ideal at 1:1 with the LT5 installed but it works for me at 1:24. 1:24 Monogram 1965 Corvette kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1965 Corvette kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1965 Corvette kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Highback seats fitted from a Monogram Datsun 280Z. Did toy with fitting those from the '92, but wasn't sure if they'd be too big and I didn't want anything too modern. 1:24 Monogram 1965 Corvette kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Compare and contrast. Threw the '92 together to see how it differed in size - not much in it lengthwise, it's mainly in the width. Got to say I'm not feeling much love for the newer model at present, but maybe one day I'll think of the right wheels and colour for it and build it kerbside.
  7. Sparkly! Good to see it progressing.
  8. I was kind of joking, but I suspect you probably will be done by then ?
  9. Nice one, it looks good. Is this the Revell kit that's the sister to the '66 Chevelle Wagon? I recently did one of them and it went nicely, I'd happily build one of these El Caminos on that experience.
  10. I enjoyed following your WIP thread, and the finished result looks fantastic.
  11. It's great for people like me who didn't see it the first time around, looks really effective and purposeful.
  12. Excellent build with a very subtle and discreet appearance.
  13. Looks excellent, and great to get an 'easy win' every so often in building something that looks really effective without too much trouble. Will have to look out for this one.
  14. Wow, that's very nice. Excellent work on the interior too.
  15. It's come together very nicely, it will make a fine addition to your cabinet.
  16. I like the wheel choice, and it's great you have a transferable skill for making up parts. Seeing how well you've been getting through your builds recently I'm guessing you'll have this finished by Sunday maybe?!
  17. It's a bit hit-and-miss what US kits I can find here, although I do have larger Ford and GM trucks. I've got a Dodge Ram 50 (Mitsubishi L200) but I think the V10 might be a bit of a squeeze in there! Ah yes, I remember seeing that one on here recently - it looks great! I'd happily have that and you clearly enjoy it havinh kept it for so long. I really like Japanese cars from this era, so well-engineered. Just about to take my '92 LS400 to work today, and the '93 Camry was recently in use for carting stuff around. The Fujimi kit includes a LHD dashboard, but getting it to be a replica of yours would be a challenge......
  18. Very nicely done. A fomative influence on many of us of a certain age, this side of the Atlantic too.
  19. In somewhat different vein to the elegant Pontiac above, the postman bought me this one today: 1:24 Fujimi Suzuki Escudo/Vitara kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Under £10 delivered, the reason being that it had been started and the roof pillars on one side had a bit of damage. The plastic is unusually hard, almost brittle, so it's not surprising. Despite that it was very well packed, with various sets of components bagged and extra bubble wrap and newspaper inside the outer box, not just put into a padded envelope like a kit I got last week. If I can neatly repair the damage and find a set of approprate arch flares I'll build it as some sort of '90s Fatboy, if not then maybe it'll end up as a mudplugger with chunky wheels and tyres from something else. 1:25 AMT/Ertl Dodge Viper kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Another cheap one, maybe an engine donor for an older Mopar? 1:24 Tamiya Mercedes S600 Coupe kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr A whale of a car, and certainly plenty of plastic in the large box. 1:24 Italieri Ford Escort RS1800 kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr About time I picked up one of these - Escorts were everywhere when I was growing up. Thoughts are to build this one as a National Hot Rod (1/4 mile oval racer), which will make use of the wide arches.
  20. I like the back story, good luck with it. The green reminds me of a Datsun that I saw once or twice back in the '90s. It wasn't original, and was suspiciously like the colour that was used on the City Council works vehicles (who might have been his employers?!).
  21. Excellent work, it looks really good. I love the subtle appearance it has.
  22. That is really, really nice, I'd very happily own that at 1:1.
  23. Nice work, it turned out very well.
  24. I think the darkened chrome has turned out really well, the whole thing looks excellent.
