Is this the 1:12 kit? I'd like to give it a go someday. Good luck with it, I like the old photos and the history behind you wanting to build it.

Looks great, I bet your collection of truck builds makes an impressive sight when they're all lined-up. -

Very nice, well worth effort of getting out the box and finishing it off. The bed looks really effective. -
Looks fantastic, a really clean build. The glass thing is annoying, I'm going to suffer that on one of my kits that's nearing completion. It's as if the people who engineered it had never acually built a kit, maybe someone was very proud of themselves for saving some plastic?

Really good to see an oddity like this being built. Does it have the ability to be motorized?

Very impressive workmanship and detailing, good luck with the rest of it.

An enjoyable read. I stumbled across an older topic on here for the very same kit: This is a model I would like to build again someday, and I even described it just the other day as one of my Holy Grail kits. I did mine when I was about 14 (so quite a long time ago), with the orange bodywork unpainted. The wheels are being used on another project and the rest of it is in the parts/scrap box. It's gone beyond the point where I could ever rebuild it. Certainly a rarity here in the UK, but I'm sure one will turn up eventually.

Tamiya Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R "Hakosuka"

Definitely worth reading through from the beginning, fantastic work! Having owned a fair few 1:1 Datsuns/Nissans over the years (sadly none as exotic as this) you have captured the look and feel of the real components very nicely, like those clamps. They look similar to the style they use on coolant hoses etc. I like the Bilbo and Star Shark wheels best, but I prefer an old school look on cars of this era. -
1965 Monogram Corvette (B.O.Y.D. entry)
Spottedlaurel replied to Spottedlaurel's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Got back onto this one last night after my mildly frustrating weekend reassembling the 1937 Ford....... 1:24 Monogram 1965 Corvette kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Engine as taken from the 1992 Corvette ZR-1. I removed that lattice member as there wouldn't have been room inside the tunnel, but a quick dry-fit showed that it should fit so after a bit of glue action...... 1:24 Monogram 1965 Corvette kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1965 Corvette kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Seems to fit nicely. WIll think about the giving the plated parts a wash to tone them down. 1:24 Monogram 1965 Corvette kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr The sump is resting on that steering link rather than the mounts, so some small spacers are required. 1:24 Monogram 1965 Corvette kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr A bit of adjustment clearly needed here! Not as bad as it looks, the clash is right at the front and a tiny lift of the bodyshell sees it closing nicely. I suspect I'll get that when the inner wings/splash guards are fitted, but I might also try to get the engine sitting very slightly further back and a small amount lower by shaving the sump just a touch. I had already filled a few scratches, and since then the bodywork has been wet sanded. Just about to give it some more primer. -
"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Spottedlaurel replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That's lovely! Really like the trailer shots too. I made a bit of progress on the Corvette yesterday, just about to add some photos to my WIP thread. If I have a few minutes I'll give it a coat or two of primer before I leave for work. -
Tamiya Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R "Hakosuka"

Wow, first time seeing this thread. Definite lunchtime reading for tomorrow! -
Picked up a load of Tamiya TS cans and Humbrol/Revell enamel pots from a local model shop at the weekend, good to see them open again. This lot came in today's post: Matchbox/AMT box was a surprise, it contained the Owens Corning Corvette 427 which was purchased unboxed but it appears to be fully complete. Nice wheels with it, and it appears to be something I can build as hi-po road car with a bit of rummaging through the parts box. Thunderbird will probably be an engine donor, the supercharged V6 would go nicely into an AMT Ford Courier build I'm planning - someone had already assembled it, as expected it's slightly shorter than the Courier's 4-cyl engine. I'm not immediately getting excited by the rest of the kit, although I am wondering if its IRS set-up could swap into an earlier Mustang/Thunderbird? Honda City is one I've built before, but it got melted by the sun. This is the the third replacement I've bought (one picked up some damage in transit), I'm determined to have another go at it! This appears to be an old 1980s issue.

That's very nice. I'm not sre if subtle is quite the right word, but very clean and understated.

Thanks Gareth. I did vaguely consider putting a wash on the grille and in the panel lines, but I'd already spent more time on it than I wanted to and I was happy just to to see it one piece rather than keeping finding bits in the parts boxes.
-
It looks very mean, nice work! I wish I could do that, it'd make more sense on some of the kits I have.
-
Looks very good. Front grille looks like it took a fair bit of detailing?!

What a rescue, it looks fantastic!

Monogram "Fat Fendered" kit, first built in the early '90s and then sat in parts in various boxes for many years. After my son started locating the various major components and I found other odds and ends I decided to resurrect it. 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Surely just a case of quickly reassembling it? It turned out to be more of an effort than I'd imagined and I have mixed feelings about how it turned out....... 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Makes for a good companion to the Chevelle I recently finished: 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr 1:24 Monogram 1937 Ford kit by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr It was largely built as I originally did nearly 30 years ago, there are some things I couldn't easily correct and to be honest I didn't want to spend too much time on it. I had to source a different set of appropriate wheels as I'd used those it came with on the Chevelle. I struggled with getting it back together, having to take apart and redo several elements to get it to a tolerable appearance. I don't remember it being such a struggle first time around, maybe I didn't have the same standards back then?..... Still, it was good to get it out of the parts box and back on the shelf.

My first time seeing this, well worth reading through from the start. I really like how you've done this - the finished result looks so clean, just like the original.

Shame to hear about the primer issue, but I think losing the gutter was a good call. That blue is going to look great on there. -
What a start! A great concept and that engine looks amazing. Just noticed the writing on the belt.....

Current 1:24 Projects by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Current 1:24 Projects by Spottedlaurel, on Flickr Varying amounts of progress today on this lot - '37 Ford rebuild saw most attention, I want it done by the end of the weekend and it's already taken more effort than I anticipated to get this far. Toyota got mocked-up now it's in its final colour. Painted a load of suspension and exhaust components, will start fitting them tomorrow (and modifying as necessary to get it sitting suitably low). Fair bit done on the Maserati, probably optimistic to think it'll get finished tomorrow but it's not far off now. Only progress on the '65 Corvette today was getting the box for the '92 out, so I can start getting the engine assembled. Not 100% sure if I'll use it, but it will go in something one day so my effort won't be in vain.

That is lovely, I like subtle colour choice too.
