Nice clean build. I like the sag on the rear, loaded up with all sorts of obsolete goodies!

Nice set of Fords. My favourite has to be the drag Stang at the back?. Any more pics of the Cougar II in the center? Looks tasty from the front.

Engine looks awesome! Love the colour and the shaved door handles, really gives that look of a loving restoration with some personal touches ready for the shows!

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the comments.? Yea, had a heck of a time with this one, lol. I didn't do a WIP cos I thought this would be just a 'quick build' Lesson learned, never Ever think "This will be a quick build" ? . The paint is a BMW colour called Liquid Blue. Trying to make the glass fit in a warped frame and stay there was a fight so I had no way of telling if it was all in the right place until it was time to glue the whole thing to the cowl. It looked good, until I fitted the quarter windows and had to bring the frame back slightly to meet them, which lifted the lower frame along the cowl. So yeah, this was my "Quick build" Lol

This was one of those bad luck builds. Paint failed on me three times, windshield frame and quarter windows were a pig to fit which left glue marks along the cowl. I also lost a wheel hub and still cant find it for love nor money so wasn't able to use the stock wheels, and on top of that when I was nearly finished, a tiny bit of glue found its way onto my finger, so when I went to put the car on the table I flung it half way across the room as I let go! No major damage except both front sidelight lenses disappeared into a black hole never to be seen again. Nice kit but instructions are vague in some areas and the wipers didn't fit at all without some bending and shaping.

I'll probably go stock with the wire wheel caps, vinyl roof and lots of scratch building under the hood! I'll keep the fire Chief gear for the AMT '65 Surf Wagon.

Thanks, Joe. Yes, it's a good kit, nicely detailed. Yeah, the yellow I originally laid on took four or five coats to finally cover the primer, and even then I could still see orange styrene on the raised areas. It was too thick by then so had to strip it. I didn't like the wheels in the kit... and I accidently stripped the chrome off them so that was that, lol.

What do you drive?
doorsovdoon replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was asked when am I going to fix the breaks, I said "Can't afford it, it's cheaper just to crash into someone" xD -

What's the best chrome?
doorsovdoon replied to Sidney Schwartz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As mentioned, all of the above. I use HVAC aluminium tape for bmf, though it can be a bit thick and not the best on tight corners. Chrome Molotow pen for small bits, and if you're looking for a good chrome paint try Revell aerosol, it's expensive but there's a reason why! -
Yes, don't be discouraged. Mould making and casting is easy. I do 1-1 trim parts for classic cars, 1/25 stuff would be a breeze! There are lots of different resins and silicones out there for all sorts of skill levels. Watch some YouTube videos on how to make a mould and the rest is easy, it's actually very enjoyable and a hobby in itself.

Picked this up the other day. I love these basic promo style kits, I like to practice my scratch building skills on these! looks to have some nice kit in there too for the fire chief build.

Rustoleum paints are terrible.
doorsovdoon replied to James Maynard's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've found Rustoleum to be very fussy paints these days. Rustoleum used to be great back in the day, though the name has always been regarded as a heavy duty outdoor paint here in the UK. It was a universal name when saying you were going to paint something, 'Chuck some Rustoleum on it' ...like saying I'm going to 'Hoover' the carpet. -
I will say, the interior on this kit (the black and blue MPC box) is very nice and looks great when painted and detailed up. The worst area is the front where the grille/bumper fits in. It's almost as if the part is for another kit, it's that bad of a fit. Don't be put off though, it's not 'Country Charger' bad where you have to add styrene and scratch build to make things fit. Some carful sanding and shaping will fix the front fit issues.

ye, I've built this one and can agree, it's horrendous! I'm not usually one to complain about a kit, especially one as old as the '67 GTO, but man, if the flash and ill fitting parts aren't cleaned up it would look awful. I remember the exhausts/axle/driveshaft looking worse than the sprue it was attached to. I did get it looking fairly decent, but I wasn't happy with the end result. Unless I see a real GTO in a combo I absolutely must have it's not a kit I'll do again.

Lovely colour, suits it perfectly, nice clean foil work too. Very nice! I've passed on this kit for too long, I'll be adding this to my stash soon! Very nice build.?
-
?yes, my mistake! This is why I don't post pics of my builds unless the op asks for them.
-
Nice. Can't wait to get hold of the '68.
-
Fun looking through old topics like this about wanting certain kits be made or re-issued after they've been made/re-issued.
-
Nice looking build. Love the mid 60's Bonnevilles and the Catalinas, I just love the styling on these.

Beautiful! Love the colour on it, very good looking car.?
