Basic work truck White Freightliner
doorsovdoon replied to TruckerAL's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very nice work. Good job on the paint scheme. I've been eyeing one of these Freightliner kits for a while. Seeing this I think I've just added another big rig to my stash! -

Really nice looking build. The simple black pinstripe looks great and suits the blue paintwork very nicely. -

Very nice weathering. Looks great hooked up to the Autocar, it actually looks like it has weight to it! -
Old Mack Cruiseliner
doorsovdoon replied to 1959scudetto's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very nice, I really like that Union tanker. I love the Cruiseliner kit, awesome looking rig. -
wow, now that's nice. Love the weathering on that faded green paint, looks awesome! Looks like a truck that was popular here in the UK, the Bedford TK, still pretty common here in Wales, usually used as horseboxes.

Beautiful looking Astro, looks great hooked up to the trailer.

Thanks, Monty. It's Vauxhall Flame Red from Halfords motor factors. I think O'Reilly's is the American version of Halfords.

Got the hardest part of the foiling done, gutter trim always takes a few attempts with me. I've just the quarterlight windows left to foil and the wheel arches. Also detailed the grille and hubcaps. The grille is pretty awkward to detail on this kit, blackwash just sits in the low points and never looks right, I prefer to paint it with aerosol, but man, it takes some effort to mask off in order to keep that chrome trim that's in there.

Gonna look very nice, especially with how nice and neat the interior is done.

Building a model from SPARE PARTS ONLY!
doorsovdoon replied to steveracer's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
That's something I've been wanting to do for some time. I have tons of left over custom bits and interior tubs but no body or chassis yet. I'll have to pick up a scrapper on the eBay, but yeah, I'd love to do a parts stash build off! -
Building cars for profit
doorsovdoon replied to Boss31's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I've asked myself the same thing knowing I'll reach a point where I wont have room for any more builds and will have to thin the fleet, "if I sold a model would I make a bit of cash from it?" short answer is no, taking into account the cost of the kit and the supplies used to build it. Unless it's a super rare model or built to a extremely high standard you might as well forget about making a profit. If you build a kit that has so much detail it looks real, would you want to sell it? Some of my better builds that I've spent lots of time on I will never sell, and they're nowhere near as good as what I've seen from others on this forum. When I have no choice but to clear a few kits I'll just have to accept a loss and be happy they go to someone who will display it, or even restore it. -
Thanks, David. Yeah, the interior is surprisingly very well detailed for such an old kit, especially for an MPC.

Thanks guys. This build will be a little slower than usual, the British weather plays havoc with paints this time of year and running back and forth from the house to the garden shed in the rain is no fun. Lol

Aoshima/C1 Models 1/24th scale MGB GT
doorsovdoon replied to Justin Porter's topic in WIP: Model Cars
A real British classic, I love the MGB GT. I used to play in one that was dumped on a land fill near my home as a kid. I've always wanted one. -
Looking good. Lovely colour too.

Some really nice custom work there.

Nice work, I'm liking the modifications. Gonna be a sweet looking Lincoln station wagon.

Beautiful looking Charger. Loving those Mags! Very nice work. I like it.

That Camaro looks beast! Love the engine swap. Wheels suit it nicely, for a sixties car it looks surprisingly modern.

Looks awesome. I like the colours, they all work very nicely with each other.

Stunning job, very clean build. Love this kit as there's so many options. As a fire chiefs car it looks amazing, very nice work.

Beautiful! Such an elegant looking car and very art deco.

What a beautiful colour, and very clean build. One of my favourite kits by Revell.
