My third Charger build. I went with the steelies and dropped a Hemi in from the MPC kit. I lost the door mirrors so I used some Rally Sport mirrors as a replacement, I think they're from the MPC Squad Rod. Colour is Vauxhall Flame Red. This a '69 body with moulded on vinyl roof, I just filled in the side markers to make it a '68. This is an awesome kit by Revell. Like the last one I did, I thoroughly enjoyed building this.

What do you drive?
doorsovdoon replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have the humble Rover 25 version of this. Apart from a blown K series head gasket once and a sunroof that keeps leaking, these are darn good car. -
Thanks Stephen. Do you have any pictures? I'd love to see it.

No unfortunately, the few models I built then haven't survived and I didn't think of taking pictures of them. Basically I painted it red with a white roof and glued a couple of round red Lego pips on the roof. I don't think I even sanded or filled the fixtures for the Ecto gear.

ah cool. I'll have a look for some of that when I'm at the hardware store next. Thanks Steve, great little mod!

Nice engine detailing. Nice looking car. I like the grille inserts in the bumper, a nod and a tip of the hat to the earlier 70's Pontiacs.

Those side markers look awesome! What did you use for those?

Trunk decal went on like butter and almost positioned itself! I hardly had to touch it. Great decals by Revel. Also got the grill fitted. Somehow I've lost the door mirrors for this, I think I used one my old MPC Charger, no idea where the other has gone, but found some rally sport mirrors in my spares which look the part so went with them. She's really taking shape now:) Just waiting for the primer to cure on the hood before I go painting it, I usually get a paint reaction if the primer is still fresh and I don't want to re-do it again!

Thanks Les but I managed to figure out a way of doing them, at least on these tyres anyway. They have a raised line around it's circumference so it was just a matter of dropping them on a sheet of paper with paint on. I have an MPC Charger I might do soon, if I go the redline rout I'll be sure to give you a shout.

Cool, I'll be watching. I built one as a teen in the early 90's but tried doing a Miller Meteor ambulance. It just looked like an Ecto1 that had been stripped down, Lol. I'm more experienced now so might get one of these and try again.

What do you do with your built kits?
doorsovdoon replied to doorsovdoon's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I went looking for some suitable cabinets at the junk stores the other day and was surprised how hard they are to find. They were either the type with leaded glass frames all fancy like, and the others would have been perfect if they had glass doors. -
Thanks guys. I decided to go with a centre console delete on this. The car I took inspiration from came with no console, it looks surprisingly clean without it. When I went to fit the hood I found it had a bit of a warp to it, so I tried bending it out and "Snap!!" It split right down the centre! Lol. Not a problem though, it was a clean spit and it glued back ok, I just have to repaint it. On a more positive note, the Charger is basically complete, just some decals and chrome trim bits to put on and I can call this one done.

Almost done here. Painting the redlines worked out ok. The tyres have a raised line on them so I just sprayed some aerosol on some A4 paper and quickly dropped the tyres on it. Had to do it twice to really bring them out. Got all the little bits painted ready to assemble. Foiling is done, underside is done and the HEMI is ready to go in! I'm loving this build and cant wait to see it completed:)

Forgot to mention, I received my mag a few weeks ago. Got to the UK just fine.

Some real nice artwork there!

That looks really good, I like that.

Very nice build there, Dominik. The flat paint like you said looks great. Beige paint, weathered and used with the surfboard on top, looks perfect.

You can make a Profit
doorsovdoon replied to Boss31's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
nah, we're not angry dude, just giving you our opinion and experience when it comes to making a profit from model building. I mean, it can be done yeah but it's not easy and there's a lot of factors to take into account if model building is something you want to make money on. Nobody is casting you out mate, your builds look great, we'd love to see more from you. -

You can make a Profit
doorsovdoon replied to Boss31's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice looking builds there. Profit isn't something I think about regarding model building, it's kind of an expensive hobby! I just enjoy building them and looking at them when their done. When I need to sell some to make room one day it's not going to be easy for me picking which ones to shift, I know I wont be making any profit from them for sure, them going to someone who will display them is more important to me than profit.
