Yes, early on they used the deuce and a half, but the suspension and drivetrain wouldn't hold up, so they switched to 5 tons. M54A2. There is/was a 1/35 available from AFV that had the M113 box on the M54A2 truck. That would ne a super cool build.

I've been going down this rabbit hole since the thread was started. Its a fascinating topic. Seems "midnight requisition" was the order of the day. Some of them even used the hull from an M113 APC as the armored box on the back. M60s', M2's, quad 50's and even M134 miniguns, quite the variety. Lots of room for "what if" builds if you're not into rivet counting.

There is also a replica of the gun truck Brutus in the Military Veteran's Museum in Oshkosh, WI.

That paint turned out very, very nice. Color looks spot on. Hopefully the clear goes on just as well.

Brought this home from my Dad's today. It was his Dad's. Hasn't been plugged in for over 30 years. I am just dipping my toes into welding. Just need to get 220v run to the garage.

Lead shot will be denser than the wheel weight. Wheel weights are an alloy that is less dense than lead.
