  1. always loved the baby birds and this one is no exception. They really are a little challenging to build and get "right". You're nailing this one just fine. Beautiful!
  2. really quite stunning. love the color, the rake, heck, I love it all!! That would be a fun cruiser!
  3. so, a little update on the injectors. I think the engine is as done as it's going to be. I think it gets the point across, even though it ain't perfect. a little paint touch-up, flare the injectors a bit and finish out the headers, and on to the rest of the bodywork. thanks for tagging along, and Happy Holidays!!
  4. yeah buddy. nice start. love the old trans am cars. back when race cars looked like their showroom counterpart.
  5. looks like a fun build!! I like the old 50's and 60's cars like this. I always thought this period was the ultimate for hotrod-garage-built sports cars. before all the corporate money sneaked in..
  6. Just some of your techniques for making the individual parts. That's one of the great things about forums like this, you see what somebody else does, and it gives you ideas for your own projects. Mostly shaping the styrene pieces to make the parts you need. Lots of little pieces, added together, make one big piece. Like your rear fender, the hood pieces, the nose. Like I said, awesome job!
  7. Very cool. I wasn't sure where you were headed with this at first, but well worth watching. I learned a bit from your journey. Nicely done!
  8. Thanks Bill. I'm not sure which way I'm going with the tonneau and fairing yet on this build, but I do want to learn more about your 'glassing technique...
  9. Amazing work Bill. I am especially interested in your fiberglass techniques for scale thickness fidelity. I fear as I get closer to finishing my "BattleBird", I'm going to run into those challenges with the tonneau cover. At some point in the future I may have some questions?? Anyway, GREAT build and attention to detail.
  10. stunning...
  11. Kurt, the one I'm building is the 1/25 AMT 57 with the AMT 56 grille bedded in. The 1/16 you did looks great. Nice build of a tough kit!
  12. since I cut down the underhood sheet metal, the radiator had to be move a bit. when it's sitting in the car, it leans at the top slightly to the front, since the motor is set back about 4 inches, they use an electric fan, so a bit more scratchin' and fiddlin'. needs some cleanup and paint. now on to the injectors.. Thanks for checkin' in!
  13. Now on to the headers. The headers on the real car are 4-2 type, then out to two pipes exiting in front of each rear wheel well. I took a couple sets of AMT 32 headers, a little slicin' and dicin' and came up with this. still have to section a bit out of the pipes to get 'em a bit closer to the frame, but I think I'm on my way. again, Thanks for looking!
  14. Hi folks, been trying for a few days to add an update. see if this works. so far, so good. something that always bugged me about Y-Blocks in scale was the distributor. They are mounted at a 45 degree angle at the back of the block, not a 90. so I did a little scratchin' and came up with this. then added the oil pump and pickup tube More soon, Thanks for looking!
  15. ooh, how 'bout the turbine from the MPC Lotus STP indy car?....
  16. Cool!! Cobra Wagon you say? How bout an early mustang roof, narrowed, fill in the side a bit. Cobra Breadvan?
  17. Ooooh, I didn't see that at first. Nice. Now you got me thinking....
  18. Very cool. I followed this as a WIP but it came out looking like it couldv'e come from the manufacturer like this. Great concept and execution. Looks like it could be competing with the Cobras, Scarabs, Ferrari's and Chaparral's of the day. Great job!
  19. Awesome start. always liked the Ford/Mercury concept cars. This should've been a production car
  20. So, I build pretty slowly. I seem to be more interested in "little Victories", than the sum of the parts. The real car had a quick-change and dual shocks. The amt kit didn't come with spring plates or rear shocks, so I checked the Fireball Roberts 57 Ford to see how they did it. Come to find out there is an extra set of dual shocks and the corresponding spring plates in the kit. I picked up a nice q-c and grafted it in the rear axle, and added a cross member and voila! dual rear shocks and a quick change! I added the necassary drive shaft hoop.. I then decided to come up with a bit better way to mount the engine. A little bit of evergreen, and some more eyeball engineering came up with this; Now I can get onto the headers and finishing up the interior... Thanks for looking!
  21. This is a great start to an interesting concept, and all of Hoffman's ideas also got me cooking up a little somethin'... now where did I leave that AWB 66 Must.....
  22. Stunning!! Very believable. Great job!
  23. Beeyootiful....!
  24. So, when I started this thing, I told my self I wasn't gonna go nuts with minute details, I was just gonna build a model. well I'm still tryin to hold true to that, but if you're doing a "replica" you need to at least catch some high points. The pictures of the car from back in the 50's shows the doors were completely gutted, to the point of having semi jagged edges in the sheet metal. I tried to do that, but decided to go with just a door with the upholstery removed. Most of the interior details will be covered by the tonneau cover, so I'm not REAL concerned with the minutia, but I thought I'd try something new. (at least new to me) A couple shots of where I'm at on the interior.. not much is glued together yet, so there is still some gaps and such that will get filled..
