Questions About Flocking and Embossing Powder
Leica007 replied to Noah H.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Just giving my 2 cents, I've used both with good results using Elmers white glue. I agree embossing is a little easier (especially if you want to paint to match the interior color), but keep in mind the type of look you want. Older vehicles and custom (especially vans) had longer carpet fibers than newer rides. Think house carpet or shag. IMHO. -
My vote is for the coupe, my father had one when he was a young guy in the Navy and I saw one at a gas station in El Paso back in the 70's. Most people have never even heard of the Terraplane. Gotta follow you on the journey.

Looking for a late model, light weight boom setup to use on 78 Dodge long bed p/u kit. Saw on ebay that several gmc/chev pickup kits have what I'm looking for so I hope someone on the forum has the boom parts but didn't use them in their build. Let me know what you would want it trade, have many parts to offer. Thanks for looking and hope for some help.

molded in headlights question
Leica007 replied to Tom Kren's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I use a pearl white (Testor Aztec) and imo it looks more natural than flat white. I have used both and the pearl is more translucent than flat white. -
Thanks for sharing, I continue to be amazed at the low rider paint work, I'm still trying to get good two color results.

I'm impressed how good the black chrome looks, it makes yours stand out. Great job.

The only two Johan kits I've built are both models of 1:1 that I owned way back. The American was my first car and the Dodge was mine in 68. Both were the plain sedans (not hardtops) so I had to add the c pillars and remove some of the trim. Upgraded the engines in both to what I would have liked to put in them.

I used this one, easy to work with and very nice decals: https://stsdecals.com/

Another technique is to start with a smaller bit (2-3 sizes) to create a pilot hole. This will relieve stress on the plastic for the larger size. Same principle as the graduated bit that Noblng uses/shown.

Thanks Al, mine is the stock kit. Still deciding on the bumpers. So far suspension is going good, but I've spent more time on mocking up this build more than any other model. Only mod to the frame is the transmission cross-member to mount the 428 block. I did have to move the radiator fwd about 2 mm and am adding an electric fan, instead of the stock fan blade. The body is in primer and looks pretty good. Hope I can can get the finish as good as yours.

Really nice job on both of them, but the Cougar caught my eye, used to have one and built a model of it. Your grille looks a lot better than mine.

Great paint/finish (hope I get to your level), the interior looks very detailed and clean, and the engine bay really sets off your work on a beautiful Cuda.

I like the street rod look of yours. Clean with subtle changes, and a HP upgrade. What bumpers did you use? I started building the Revell kit about the time you posted yours. Did you run into any problems or have any tips for me? I'm taking the same path but it's going to have a 428 under the hood, and I did open the trunk. Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Like your concept and execution making a roadster, the slammed look makes it stand out also. Very nice job.

48 Ford Ranchero
Leica007 replied to Butter 1's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great job on blending the two bodies. Your detail on the interior door looks excellent and I really like the shots of the chassis upgrades. Nice clean build. -
I used the chassis, dash, door panels and rear seat from the the old Lindberg Mustang II kit. Had to modify the chassis floor pans quite a bit and build up under the door panels 2-3 mm. Also I had to cut down the bottom edge of the windshield about 2mm to get the dash clearance. I'll post pics here of the mock up of the interior from my other computer, they should help if you need them.
