  1. Could you post some pics of the tread on those cheater slicks? Would really like to see so I could make some for future street rods. Thanks.
  2. I understand and agree, it'll help. Hope you share some of your builds on the forum, glad you're here.
  3. Ditto on the interior, and the detail. Did you make the Cherry Bomb mufflers, or were they in the kit? Caught my eye right away.
  4. Glad to have you join us. Would really like to see you build a model of your Vette and post pics for us.
  5. Welcome to the forum, Dingo. Almost got to your country back in '68, always wanted to see it.
  6. Very sharp, clean build, really like the weathering (i'm trying to learn to do that). Good paint finish.
  7. Thank you Carl, Chris, and Doyle, appreciate your taking the time to give feedback on my van.
  8. The only LHS that I found n this area closed about 5 years ago, it was in Pontiac (about 25 mi north of Bloomington). Lived here for almost 7 years and still haven't found a club in the area either.
  9. Really like what you are doing with this build, looking forward to seeing more. Admire your creative process and the results; and that you enjoy doing it. Thanks!
  10. Just a suggestion, if you move the top forward (so the rear pillar lines up with the back of the door) it moves the rear off of the trunk and lowers the rear profile. I mocked up on a 50 body with another 57 coupe top.
  11. Extremely well executed finish of a unique model; can't decide which I lke better, the interior or the engine bay detailing. Both are eye catching. Thanks for sharing.
  12. My vote for the decals is no also; vote yes on nice clean build.
  13. The outdoor shot really shows the quality of your paint job, very nice. Like the black chrome treatment too.
  14. Bet they both purr loud.
  15. The center post on a distributor is usually the wire to the an ignition coil, hope your kit included that part. If not you can make one easily.
  16. I used to try super glue, but the fogging stopped that quick. One thing I did learn was a q-tip lightly soaked in alcohol would clean most or all the fog off the glass without harming it, then I used another q=tip to apply Novus clean & shine. Looked pretty good. Now I use plati-weld to tack in place and then canopy glue.
  17. For the past 5 years I've been using HVAC tape for my chrome trim with very good results. I learned that it's better to cut size appropriate strips then apply, rather than try trimming wider pieces on the model; although I have had to carefully trim occasionally. I've never used BMF so I don't know how it compares in strength, but I really like the HVAC, doesn't tear too easily while working with it. I usually work in strips btw 1.5 - 3 mm wide for widow frames, roof edges, etc. Sometimes increasing to 4 or 5 mm if needed. I use a wooden cuticle tool (pointed on 1 end, beveled on the other) to burnish the strips after they're in place and to fit into creases/edges. Then buff with soft rag or paper towel to really polish. Using thin strips makes it easier to conform around curves. Also used for other trim/molding. I'm attaching some pics of models where I used the hvac tape. Note the badges on the gremlin, the hvac molds nicely to the detail. Used toothpick to work this. I'll be glad to answer questions, hope this gives an alternative to chrome painting for us older guys without the steady hands we once had.
  18. Looking forward to seeing more of your excellent detail work, especially the interior. Always impressed by your builds.

  20. Like what you did with the body mods and the unusual color choices look good, feel bad about the paint results too. Real nice fix on the wheels.
