  1. Boy is that a thing of beauty!
  2. I recently found on my desk a 2004 copy of Automobile magazine (yes, it is possible to find a six year old mag buried on my desk!) and the cover story was "The 100 Coolest Cars". I was puzzled that they named the Citroen DS in the top ten (or close to) I confess to lack of being informed on the car, but still it struck me as funny.
  3. I have primarily used Google Image, and E-Bay Motors. That in turn leads to my Fotki albums, because photos on the internet may be there today, yet not necessarily tomorrow. I have catagories for almost every brand of vehicle, and most albums have hundreds, if not thousands of pics. Most photos are captioned by make, year, model. Many of the albums are then arranged by title (the default is upload date). This in turn makes finding a photo of a certain year easier. Of course, captioning every photo takes time. I have also indexed my magazine in Excel, but I let that go years ago. Sadly due to overcrowding in my hobby room, some of those mags may end up at the landfill.
  4. Only way I can work with photo etch is under a mag goose-neck lamp. It's one of the best investments you can make.
  5. I agree. I just Google'd these images... Well, that didn't go too well. Sorry 'bout that. I tried to capture direct from Google, but I guess that didn't work. Guess I should have saved them to my photo host.
  6. Gotta love Mini mods (as opposed to Mini Me's) Hope you can get the photography thing down... if we had clearer pics it would go a long ways.
  7. Woooh! One of the most awesome F-bodies... the F-BOMB! I lust for that beast! I'm not a numbers person, I don't need numbers... I just know it's Bad-Azz!
  8. Some make their own mask. I have used acrylic paint on the inside of the window (my hands are not steady enough) but I have better luck using a Sharpie Permanent Ink marker, again on the inside edge. I freehand the edge only when necessary. I use a non-slip ruler when possible. Staples office supply sells flexible rulers in their drafting supply section.
  9. You sure Virg didn't help you with the rust? It's that good! Like those pock marks in the back of the cab... nice stuff!
  10. Like Mike says, it don't take much for the part to run away from home. Another challenge is holding on to that tiny part! You could use tweezers, but I have seen them "snap", or the part shoots off the tweezer into carpet never-never land. Try a "Super Sticky" Post-It.
  11. Hey Will... This subject comes up every now and again. I friend once told me how he told his lady "I don't smoke no more. I don't drink no more. I don't do drugs no more. With all the money I'm savin' us, this hobby is a bargain!" Me? I just leave it out in the car until she goes to bed!
  12. Maybe some people need to watch someone do the door trimming. I wonder if there is anything on YouTube? I don't recall, even though I sometimes feel like I have seen the entire internet like three times now!
  13. Here is what I need to replicate...
  14. Quite a popular conversion when they were plentiful! Same idea, just going in a different direction...
  15. How to display your die-cast!
  16. I want to start a beat car, and it would have completely shot seats. The fabric is gone in some spots, with metal coils showing. I mean at least 75% of the seat is metal framework. How would I do that? Thanks.
  17. Now that is interesting! I would like to know what kit, if any, was used to source that frame? Great design.
  18. BTW, how much longer before you end up on "Dancing With The Stars?"
  19. Congrats, Gregg! Perhaps if more clubs took a proactive approach to media coverage of the hobby, we may just get more public awareness and in turn more memberships (read: $$$) So how about it folks?
  20. Well you have to follow the instructions. I can see by what you posted that you (apparently) didn't type in the bracketed URL's each end as I showed. Brackets are these symbols [ ] In those brackets, on the left you type... img On the right you type... /img In between them, you PASTE the URL you copied before by RIGHT CLICKING on url you found by opening the "SHARE IMAGE" box. Also, never leave any blank spaces from the first bracket, through the url, to the very last bracket! NO BLANK SPACES! So it looks like this... You posted this... [photo id=swdgddfqwtrdrsfxbwqqgrksrwgk type=vi style=1 align=no link=photo] You will know you have the correct URL if it starts with... http, and ends with... jpg I know it is difficult when you are new to it. Hang in there, with practice you will get it. Mmmm... room is spinning... time for bed... must leave now...
  21. Check out this link... http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27819&st=0&p=266221&hl=Fotki&fromsearch=1&#entry266221 Scroll down until you find this... That link should be pinned.
  22. Nice DB5! I was aware of the model, but not of the figures. You did a fantastic job!
  23. We need more crazy stuff like this! How they mow lawns at F1 venues...
