  1. Just did a little test on the top portion of the dash on my 41 Willy's. This is after just 2 coats. Looks like the Rust-Oleum lacquer is compatible with the Tamiya lacquer. Now it's on to the body.
  2. Thanks James. The heater hoses are plastic and came with the kit. For the battery wires I bought some of the old beige phone wire and peeled the insulation off. There is a red, green, and black wire that seem to be the right size.
  3. Coming along nicely. Fantastic detailing.
  4. Nice build. The green looks really kewl. Nicely done.
  5. When it comes to getting the windshield wipers chrome and looking good it's always a struggle for me. I initally used a silver Sharpi then switched to the Molotow chrom pen. The trouble with these two ways is I can only get the top of the wipers and then it tends to bleed down on the sides of the wipers and doesn't look good. I haven't tried bmf yet as I've been having issues with it not wanted to stick all the great. What are you guys and gals doing for the wipers on your builds?
  6. Looks pretty kewl Ray. I love the ole Willy's Gassers. I looked up the ACME models and really like the Stone, Woods, Cookie 41 Willy's Gasser but boy.....I don't think my pockets go that deep.
  7. I saw that set on Fleabay. Each bottle is about 3 times the size of a Testors bottle I believe. If you get it, let us know how the colors turn out.
  8. Same as Roger but I glue my parts to a small dowl rod. It only take a small drop of glue and holding it in place for a few seconds. Like mentioned, snap it off when parts are dry and touch up.
  9. Sweet looking Promod. The detail work is over the top. Great work man.
  10. I've got the AMT 59 El Camino somewhere in my stash.
  11. Come on now......that's like saying you can only eat one potato chip ?
  12. 55 is looking pretty sharp Mike. Nice job on your first truck.
  13. Nice looking Gasser. Looks like you had to use a shoe horn the get the engine in there. Great looking work man.
  14. I'll be spraying my 41 Willy's in the morning so I'll report back on how it goes. I'm very familiar with lacquer being thin and running easily. It's the same way with the Tamiya Lacquer paints I'm using.
  15. I'm looking at the chrome front grille and the photo etched one that came in the kit. Looking at the 1:1 Big John Mazmanian Willy's it's a different shape and has a slight bow to it. The chrome one is bowed and the photo etched one is flat. Not sure what to do here. Can't trial fit the grills as my paint on the body is still curing. Need a little help here.
  16. Thanks for all the reply's fellows.
  17. Thanks Carl. All I saw at the local hobby shop was white primer and white basecoat but I will keep that in mind.
  18. Thanks for the info Tom. Looks like your 64 came out pretty nice. I'm going to let the Tamiya TS-8 cure for a couple days then give it a go.
  19. Nice looking Sedan. I looked for a 40 coupe for the longest time but couldn't find what I wanted at the price I wanted to pay. Currently have a 49 Chevy pickup Restomod.
  20. I guess I missed this one. Fantastic looking. You know I love the Gassers. Food for thought.....the 1957 Ford out sold the 1957 Chevy back in the day.
  21. Just sprayed my 41 Willy's body with Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red lacquer. I'm thinking of trying the Rust-Oleum Acrylic Lacqer clear gloss over the Tamiya lacquer. I'm not sure if this Rust-Oleum lacquer can be wet sanded or not. I've read pro and cons about sanding lacquer on the ole interweb. Does anyone have any experience with wet sanding the Rust-Oleum Acrylic lacquer clear?
  22. I've been following your build and it's really turning out to be a slick looking little ride.
  23. Work so far is looking nice Dennis. Always loved the 40 & 41 Ford pickups. The stance on yours is looking killer.
  24. Pretty nice looking wagon Steve. The attention to detail is nicely done. Love the transformation from the 4 door to 2 door.
