  1. Yup. Putting a V8 in mine and since I added the plug wires I can't get the engine back far enough to install the radiator. This might take an extra cup of coffee this morning to figure out what to do ☺
  2. Picked this up today at 40% off. Great buy.
  3. I found this Paasche H which seems to have good reviews. Anyone have this one that could comment on the quality?
  4. I'll check out the Craft acrylic. Is the needle that comes with the Iwata airbrush I mentioned about ok or would it need a different needle and what size?
  5. Thanks guys. Correct me if I'm wrong. I thought the Createx paints were pre-mixed?
  6. My local Hobby Lobby has the Iwata NEO CN Gravity-Feed Dual Action Airbrush that I'm looking at. They also sell the Wicked and CreateX paint. Is this ok for a beginner and is the paint ok?
  7. Our Hobby Lobby here no longer excepts coupons. You have to keep and eye on their site. I get notices when new ads are being offered.
  8. Thanks man. I haven't build a model in over 50 years. Boy have things changed. Mainly the enterweb for everyone's help and pics. The orange still didn't cover very well but it kinda gives it a weathered look I guess. That's my store and I'm sticking with it ☺
  9. Thanks for all the advise fellows. I got the plug wires installed this morning. Wasn't really sure what to use to get the size that looked good. Found some old telephone line that had red, black, and yellow wire inside. I had to remove all the wires and redo them as the engine would not go back far enough to the firewall to install the fan. It turned out ok I guess but it was tough to work with. I gotta hand it to you guys that have been doing this for a while as what I've seen on this site is just amazing.
  10. Received the ad today. 40% off model kits starting on 3/8/2021.
  11. Thanks. I'm building it as a restomod to look like my 1949 full size pickup.
  12. I'm building the amt 1950 Chevy pickup. This is my first build in many, many years so I don't have a collection of parts available. Anyone ever scratch build a power brake booster?
  13. Thanks for the idea's fellows. Tom, PM sent. Thanks.
  14. Thanks for the idea on the bed. I've been looking at an airbrush and spray booth. I keep my 1949 Chevy pickup in the garage so I'd hate to spray anything in the garage. With a booth would you still need to cover e studying up? Have any more pics of your truck?
  15. I was afraid that using any chemicals would soften the glue so I decided to just sand it down. It's now a heck of a lot better. Looks like a lot of orange peel so not sure to just leave it or not.
  16. Thanks for the info. How would I go about stripping the paint off?
  17. It's Testors from the small bottle brushed on the block. Maybe a second coat will look better but I'm thinking there is something wrong with the paint since it was hard to get mixed up. I'm more worried about the red paint on the box. It was Testors spray enamel in a rattle can.
  18. Ok....need help from the pro's. I primed the box and cab yesterday and this morning I sprayed the red. YIKES....what happened??? Before I prayed the red I wiped the box down with denatured alcohol. I did a test piece and I noticed the paint came out fast and thick. I kept the part as far away as I could while holding the part with my left hand on a wire and spraying with my right hand. I now remember when I was a kid, painting was my nemesis. Not only that, the Testors orange paint did not want to cover the engine no matter how much I stired it. Man.....I have now lost enterst in this project.
  19. Thanks Steve. I did see the Molotow pens at Hobby Lobby. I got the box put together and primed. Still needs a little cleaning up but I'm satisfied.
  20. jjsipes, Did you ever finish your 50 pickup?
  21. Thanks for the idea's on the dark gaps guys.
  22. I got the bed put together this morning and I'm starting to see some mistakes I made. I now see a couple small low spots in some of the platic that I should have filled prior to glueing together. What are you guys using to fill low spots with? I also want to color the rear fender bolts inside the bed like on my full size 49. I guess a silver Sharpe would work for this?
  23. Thanks for the floating black solution. Not sure what the process is but guess I can goggle it.
  24. I saw this 50 pickup online and really like how it looks around the door gaps and around the vents. I'd like to do the same to mine. How were those dark area's created?
