  1. And the winner is... blocked radiator. I think it may have been partially blocked and the block sealer finished it off, as it runs cooler now with a new radiator than it ever did before even with the old engine. I got a lot of junk out of the block, a lot of junk. There was even gobs of RTV inside from when they "glued" the water pump and thermostat housing on. The old radiator weighs at least twice as much as the new one.
  2. Here in Florida a three wheeled vehicle is considered a motorcycle and as such doesn't require insurance.
  3. I saw a red one around the Winter Park area at an auto shop about 35 years ago every day going to school and thought almost the same thing as this one.
  4. Hopefully, I think I finally figured out the problem. The lower portions of the cooling passages are clogged with what I assume is the block sealer they used to seal the leaking intake manifold. I removed the little block plugs (the knock sensor acts as one) and no water came out. It took some serious stabbing with a screwdriver to pierce through and get water to come out. I have the water pump off and have been flushing through there, and since the alternator bracket was already off I knocked out that freeze plug to scrape and flush through there. So my next step will be to remove the power steering pump/ac bracket, the starter and the oil cooler adapter so I can knock out the other front freeze plug and both side rears. I think I can get it cleaned up pretty good through those six holes so I don't have to pull the motor again to get to the plugs obstructed by the transmission and motor mounts.
  5. I finally used some of my model paint. Red on the left #1 TDC, silver on the right where the rotor was pointing when I removed the distributor. Unfortunately they weren't much help as this distributor is worn out so I had to use another.

  7. Yeah, I would buy a new alternator or at the minimum buy the case.
  8. My replacement engine was overheating in traffic, so now I'm switching the rest of the parts from the original engine. It looks like intake manifold gasket failure, a common problem, but I'm switching the heads too. Here's where I'm at:

  10. Also, the cab seems to be a variant of the wrecker kit.
  11. The tires in both copies I have are the two piece tires, with dated looking rims. I think the body is very nice, probably could combine it with the Sodbuster for a more accurate undercarriage.

  15. If you shake it more than twice you're playing with it.
  16. There's two different designs of the 4L60E. The earlier looks almost identical to a 700R4.
