Went to the junkyard today, they have a 99 5.7 with 60,000 miles and they're giving it to me for $600. It's from a Cadillac though, so I have to swap everything. Intake and exhaust manifolds, timing cover, oil pan, everything external. Basically it's good as a long block. I'll pick it up next Saturday. Funny thing, the engine in my 93 also came from a Cadillac.

Yes I got the Motorworks ones from Walmart. Not all of them got the Ollie's treatment though.

This one doesn't have a hole in the hood, and has stock rear wheel openings. The hoods are pretty close except for the leading edge.

I went to Walmart and found the other 5 pack that has one crushed car.

Some had mentioned the price sticker being under the shrink wrap on some of these kits. I opened one up to check it out and realized something so I checked the others I have. The sticker is under the wrap on the Revell kits, the Round2 ones have it over.

Sounds like it would go well with a build idea I have, the firecracker build. Build it like when you were a kid, then blow it up like when you were a kid.

Judging from the surroundings, it's not just to attract attention.

I shake my head at all the tires in that kit.

Not a model but I think they're neat and thought someone else might too. I collect single pack Hot Wheels, I don't get the five packs because I haven't found any that I like all five. But Hot Wheels has four crushed car castings which aren't available in a single pack. They come paired with a monster truck and I have a few, but I discovered they also come in some five packs and found this one. I still don't like all five but had to have the two crushed cars and I also have a lot of the Cruise Bruiser (wagon). So three out of five ain't bad. The second shot shows the van casting better since it's a single color from one of the monster truck packages.

I'm just kind of playing around with it. It being my newest (99) I kind of play around with all my old vehicles fairly regularly. I'm going to see if my favorite junkyard has an engine this weekend before I do anything. I'll see if they have a transmission for the S10 yet too while I'm there, the wife misses it. I also might just put another antique on the road instead. My brother passed a few years ago and I have his old V8 Dakota. My wife and daughter both want to drive it.

Well, that didn't last too long. My wife said she heard squeaking, and I found the harmonic balancer almost came all the way off. So since the JB Weld failed now I'm thinking of welding the key to the crankshaft so the bolt doesn't loosen. Unless someone else might have a better idea? Other than changing the crankshaft or engine, which I'll probably end up changing the engine at some point.

About that Firebird, somebody sure did a nice job prettying it up on the box art. The one I have looks awful on the box.

Yea, I pointed that out to the lady at the register. She said maybe it's because it has "more stickers". I just laughed.
