Do you also have 1:1 project cars?
Tabbysdaddy replied to ctruss53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Old engine out and on the stand. Mostly extra parts on the floor, I need the harmonic balancer and still need to swap valve covers. I made sure I got the brackets because I can use them to do an alternator and a/c compressor swap on my other truck. That's another 5.7 in the back and a 700r4, I'm sort of a collector. Three broken exhaust manifold bolts in one head of the good engine, hopefully I can get them out or I'll be swapping a head too. Plus I have a new plastic timing cover because it's cracked. -
What was the last actual AMT kit issued?

I thought this was an interesting subject, until you guys muddied it all up. -

What do you drive?

I got mine with a bad transmission. I put in an earlier year wrong one and killed it, then I put in the later year wrong one that it has now. -

The G10 and G20 are both 5 lug, the G30 is 8. -

95, the one year only transmission. Funny thing is I could only find a 95 transmission when my 93 one went out, so I made it work. -
Identification request
Tabbysdaddy replied to Earl Marischal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The cars are flimsy because they smoosh so the people don't. The passenger compartment is the strong part. Putting the same safety equipment in a vintage car would mean making the vintage car flimsy also. -

But, if they were driven off, you wouldn't have a face full of windshield. -

So that junkyard motor was an LT1 and I need a Vortec, but I did get this set of wheels so it will look real cool sitting in the driveway. I did walk around the yard though and found a van that wasn't inventoried that has a Vortec so I'm going to pick that up next Saturday. -

From my wife. She remembered I wanted the Mack. She's been mentioning the Ford for probably at least a year so I think she really wanted me to have it. Yes I wanted it too, I want at least one of everything.

With their cold weather, the back is probably filled with batteries. -

Went to the junkyard today, they have a 99 5.7 with 60,000 miles and they're giving it to me for $600. It's from a Cadillac though, so I have to swap everything. Intake and exhaust manifolds, timing cover, oil pan, everything external. Basically it's good as a long block. I'll pick it up next Saturday. Funny thing, the engine in my 93 also came from a Cadillac. -

Some had mentioned the price sticker being under the shrink wrap on some of these kits. I opened one up to check it out and realized something so I checked the others I have. The sticker is under the wrap on the Revell kits, the Round2 ones have it over. -
What did you see on the road today?
Tabbysdaddy replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Judging from the surroundings, it's not just to attract attention. -

I shake my head at all the tires in that kit.
