Kustom service metallics are another fantastic line up but there $8 a bottle on newtype.com haven't seen them in stores. Robot kai sells a few different brands of metallics as well but there on the pricey side. Splash paints also makes pretty good metallics, but again on the pricey side. If you can only do local hobby shops? see if you have a hobby town around mine started to carry mr hobby paints no to long ago and if you're lucky you may catch some super matallics, but there $5 a 10ml. Hobby town usually has a bigger paint selection than mom and pop shops around here.

Depending on how small the part is I'll use tamiya's enamel paints that come in a 10ml bottle. There XF line up isn't really meant for brush painting but can work. Vallejo model color is great for brush painting, and i think they have metal colors too. There airbrush ready paints can be brushed pretty good too. Real small parts XF will work great and there enamel line up does wonders. Just thin tamiya with leveling thinner from mr hobby or use tamiyas own retarder for thinning.

Ak metal colors are good, but bout the same price if not more than alclad. Mr.hobby super metallic range is awesome as well. Didn't know he was moving to NC? That's cool, doubt shipping would be any cheaper lol. You know what part of NC?

Tip for removing "New & Improved" BMF off glass
Dpate replied to Dpate's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Thanks! Yeah he looks a mess right now cause the panel line wash isn't done or cleaned up. Also still got a BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH ton of parts left to get together. First zoid i ever had came from walmart and was in a box like AMT and revell comes in. These zoids kits here are from kotobukiya and very detailed also very pricey $70 and up depending on the kit. The paint work some guys do on these kits are amazing too, but i decided not to paint mine right now. -
So i did some testing using two products on removing the BMF film from glass and these two products work perfect. I tried 91% ISP, but it left a haze on the glass. The piece of glass in the pic was cleaned with novus step 1 only took a few passes with a Q-tip bout like you're sanding. The UWC product works perfect as well, and can also be used to clean enamel panel line washes up which works beautifully. Now this is just a tip for folks that might already have these products especially novus. Also don't mind the zoid he still got some work to be done and cleaning up to be had lol

Why Aren’t Companies Rescanning Old Kits?
Dpate replied to Jordan White's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The price isn't the issue or point i was trying to make. Even if they sold a box of flash people would still buy it lol. I'm not gonna continue in a losing battle that's been going on since before i was born. Deuces! -

This is a stronger combo. Solvaset is good too but best to use it by itself. But Micro set and sol are both great too, and yeah you probably should get some sol. -
Why Aren’t Companies Rescanning Old Kits?
Dpate replied to Jordan White's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This attitude is the reason companies do what they do and get away with it. A burger at Mcdonalds isn't $40 either. No one goes to mcdonalds expecting quality, but I'm glad you agree that AMT isn't quality. I guess that's why moebius dropped the ball on there recent release. Guess they where hoping it wouldn't blow up as big as it did, because like good ole Luca C would say:" It's part of the hobbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" -

best beginner amt truck model
Dpate replied to Constructiongeek's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Beginner and AMT put together in the same sentence is kind of funny. But big rig kits aren't really "beginner" friendly unless you get a snap on i guess. But i would choose the international trans star because it's a brand new tooling from AMT, so less clean up etc. AMT also has some more expensive big rig kits that are rebox of italeri kits which are fantastic. Big rig kits are a lot more complex than your typical car kit so they take a lot more time to finish. Here is two italeri kits and two moebius kits. Even though those two kits say 1/24 scale they are much bigger than your typical 1/24 scale truck kit. These kits are big boys. -
Hobby Paint Shaker For Under $10, How To Make Your Own
Dpate replied to hpiguy's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Works fantastic. Little pricy, but it gets the job done. You basically sit the bottle in the middle hold down and the motor does it thing. Add a mixing ball in your bottles, and mix right side up and upside down for good 2-3 mins and you're golden. Thick paint can take a few mins to mix properly. Think barbatos rex on youtube made a video about if you wanna check it out in action.- 39 replies

Wood beam advice for trailer?
Dpate replied to Dpate's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hmm might be a good excuse to go back lol. Thanks for the heads up. -
"Tape had been left on for several days, perhaps more than a week" That's the issue not the tamiya's fault. I'd be more disappointed in my actions, and not the type. I've never had such issue happen and that's even leaving parts in the dehydrator for few hours. Most of the time i'll just let the part sit for a few mins and remove the tape, and if one is painting right with a airbrush you wont get a paint line after removing.

Well it’s finally announced.?
Dpate replied to NYLIBUD's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm still driving a 05 chevy equinox LT and folks out here with new corvettes and fancy electric cars lol. It might be a 05 but i take care of the darn thing and with 189K only major job I've had to do myself was change both head gaskets. It's gonna get to the point eventually we wont even be able to work on our own cars. -
Man if those distributor's were a little more polished I'd buy. Look like some of the holes are damaged and spaced to far out from the center. I'm wondering if anyone has ordered from this guy 6 Cylinder Distributor

It looks like when you burnished the tape down it flatten the gloss coat which looks like a semi gloss from the pics. That pebbly look is really bad orange peel & print of the tape. Just look at pic #2 the gloss part has orange peel all day same as the spot you removed the tape. Did you get anything on the tape? I use tamiya washy tape and never had this issue, but i don't use rusto either. I know you said it was drying for a week, but was it truly cured? Touch try doesn't mean cured. If you must use that tape i would try the delicate kind. It's pink and not as tacky. It's washi tape, but i don't think as good as tamiya though. But your problem can be easily fixed with sanding and compound.

Too young for this thread lol is cool to see some history though.
