Calling it done. Kinda wasted money getting a v6 as it is not a TB 4.3 but an incorrect TPI version. Did find some under the hood detail parts like overflow, battery, and washer fluid reservoir. Made my own headlights by finding a picture online of a sealed beam, printing them out to the correct size, putting packing tape on both sides to protect them, and finally cutting them out and gluing them on.

Had I known or even thought about it, I would have purchased another PL kit instead of the Revell kit for sure. The Herbie idea came after the fact while looking at ideas to paint it. I was hoping someone had the PL kit, but did not use their sunroof.

I have had a few problems with Testors paint. Most recently it seems the bottle paint dries up. I have had and do have 9-year-old bottle paint that is still good, then I have about 12 bottles of stuff I bought last year that is full, and useless. It is BS. These things are no long a quarter to buy, or 50 cents. They are 2.50 ea. That means I got 36 bucks of garbage I can't use.

Thanks. I am sure that short version does not offer the sunroof. I bought a Revell kit, and it is not included. I am building a Herbie Baja Bug, and a sunroof is a must.

I am looking for the closed sunroof section for the Polar lights CokaCola Beetle.

I always had a love for base vehicles with limited or no options. One of my favorites was a light blue C-1500 W/T with 4.3 V6. So I am building my own version. I sourced a 4.3 v6 from a GMC Sonoma kit, a Iceman W/T grill painted graphite gray. The color has way more metallic than I expected, but I like it. I sanded off the body molding, stripped the bumpers, and painted them flat black. Got the body detail done with some semi-gloss black

Thanks. The Desert Rat was a Datsun pickup with a motorcycle. You must be thinking about Quicksand Chevy van with Honda Odessey, and motorcycle. I have that kit.

This has been sitting in a box for about two years painted. It was to celebrate 50 years of Quigley Motors. My recent builds got me thinking that I need to finish some of my started projects. 1974 Chevy 4x4 van built by Quigley Motor Company of Pennsylvania. Chevy was the very first van Quigley claims to have converted back in 1974. There seems to be no pictures of it, or specs about it, so I decided it would be a mild custom van. It would have been pulled from the end of the assembly line, sent to Quigley and on to the dealer for delivery. This is how I imagine it. It consists of a NP203 transfer case bolted to a TH400 sending power to Dana front and rear. So for this build I used a Foxy Box Chevy van which is 1/25 mated to the frame, differentials, tires and wheels from a 1/24 scale GMC Plow truck. The track width, and wheelbase seems close enough with no modifications to the frame. I got to getting it done. I still have to add lights, wipers, and finish paint detail

I was able to get some models painted today. 5 to be exact. The dually will be two tone. Still deciding on the top color, but I knew the lower would be white. And the plow truck got some green to match the 1:1 version in my driveway. Also building a base work truck with a 4.3 v6, the Baja bug, and a couple stalled projects, 4x4 Nova wagon called Grape Ape followed by a quigly 4x4 conversion chevy van I painted a few years back.

I had a bit of a paint fest today. Painted 5 models. Painted Herbie, and in a couple days I will clear it. I guess My idea of a Baja Herbie is not unique.

Plow truck, and crew cab dually

I worked on the suspension and the height of the crew cab and got it in primer along with my plow truck.

got Herb into primer along with a couple other projects. Once the body is painted, the kits seem to build themselves. LOL

Great work. The roof flows so good that once finished, it will be near impossible to tell changes were made.👏

This is already starting out to be both challenging, and fun. The Texas 3D trans kit, wheels, and tires are just outstanding, and fit so good. I was planning on just making it white, with white wheels, but I decided to add Herbie decals. I am sure it will not sit as high when finished. I need to design and make some nerf bars.
