That engine detail and hood hinges is some next level stuff. ?

I can remember building this kit as a kid. Back when I thought brush painting the body was a nifty way to go . I must have gotten it as a birthday present or something . I can remember asking my dad what a Mo Jave (enunciating the J )was, then he told me the correct pronunciation. That's how long ago that was. ?

Nice. These were quite popular here in the states as well back in the 70s in hardtop and convertible form.

I actually wired the ignition on these (although poorly lit) with Accel colored wire and photo etched looms on both engines. I used the Molotow paint on the air cleaner and valve covers. You can see my sloppy job filling in the gas cap hole with J B Weld. I guess it still needed a little more sanding. These Super Swampers are nice. I hope someone puts them out in a set again.

I sent a message to that Ray, and he told me he would get those orange ones on his ebay store in time for the re-release of this kit. get ready for a big shipping fee, they come all the way from the Netherlands! ?

love that VW! I Remember seeing on similar to it a few years back at the annual WW2 weekend at Reading airport. I have since lost all those pics ☹️. Those P-51s were loud! -

Looking better and better. ? -
I think I can even fit my rat motor without having to open up that hood scoop. The Chevelle buckets and console look right at home and that straight axel might work if I choose to go all out.

I thought I could make them out. -
I just unboxed it. Moment of truth. My tires are actually bigger than the ones that come with the kit.

Maybe I'll ask for one for Christmas . ?

I do use the coat hangers and sort of hang parts from them but in some cases, you cant hang stuff. I like how that Tamiya stand sort of holds the insides of the body with what looks like spring tension.

Thats the one. I think my local hobby lobby is a victim of the supply chain. I'm tired of the old empty spray paint can with a piece of tape that ends up falling over and destroying my paintjob method. Those things look like just the thing I need.
