  1. Is your razor saw deep enough? You may need to shim what's being cut upwards so that the saw doesn't bottom out. It helps to use light pressure, too, when cutting, or the saw blade will wander. I usually slide the cut end to the end of the miter box and use that end to sand the end of the cut piece to a true (or close) 90*, too.
  2. Those are horrible. People have quickly learned to rely upon them instead of turning their head both ways and looking behind both before and while backing up. I have seen it first hand driving with a 75+ year old (not that it's exclusive to older people, it's not...) and it scares me, frankly. Never once did she take her eyes of the dash screen once the shifter was put into reverse....not good. How do you spot someone outside the back up camera's view range if you never look? Cars are easier than ever to repair, as they (mostly) self-diagnose, but you do need far more specialized tools to repair them. It's a trade off, but for the average vehicle user, it works. For hands-on folks who like to DIY, you are now in the minority, and will continue to be so. Just to add-- I definitely prefer to DIY everything on my vehicles, but my most recent project (manual swap into my '11 TSX Sportwagon) required two visits from a locksmith to re-program the ECU, so I understand the frustration with having to rely on others, especially when specialized tools are required. Not a huge deal to me, really, but something to keep in mind when driving a newer vehicle compared to and older, less-electronic dependent vehicle-- both have their plusses and minuses.
  3. Can anyone identify the kit(s) source(s) for these tires? Top row, starting on the left: 1) narrow Continental, no size 2) Firestone Indianapolis, crossed flags logo opposite 3) Holley M/T cheater slick, but it appears to be wider than those in the re-issued MPC '76 Dodge Dart Sport? Bottom row: 4) Dunlop Racing 5.50 - 15 5) Goodyear 9.50 - 16.5 Hi-Miler Wide Tred (not a typo) 6) Firestone, with the crossed flags opposite. AMT vintage Indy-ish? Smooth tread area.
  4. When exactly were the original Edsel(?) style boomerang chrome-plated tail light bezels eliminated? They were still present in the "Shifty Seven" release from 1968(?): The custom tail light bezels in question:
  5. Picked up some 1/16 scale Chevy Scottsdale (Swamp Monster version) and '57 Bel Air parts, a gallon bag filled with tires, an Ertl Farm Barge(!!) kit, the Maz Willys kit, and some nice Bridgestone Mud Dueler tires. I believe this is the first time I have ever witnessed neon/day-glo paint applied successfully, too.
  6. @SteveG knows. I believe he stated Round2 is recreating the fastback-specific parts, carrying over anything common from the existing '66 Mustang coupe kit, and re-using the '65/'66 "glass", which still exists. So, basically very much like the recently modified re-issue of the AMT '64 Olds F-85 Hardtop. Hopefully @SteveG can share here the four images he recently shared on the 'gram, too.
  7. Send me a PM with your address, please. I'll check to see how many I have, but I think I have at least three.
  8. What was this out of? Mustang? Doesn't look like the 15* clocked GM F-body unit, and the shifter is in the wrong spot for an M-van. Assuming it's a WC version if it's going behind a 340... I swapped a T-5 into my '95 Astro a decade ago and it was well worth the effort.
  9. More like a re-creation of the original, at least for the content which has been lost to time. Probably a good idea to start a new topic for that specific release.
  10. Thanks, Jack. *edit* There they are on the instruction sheet: I should have known someone asked long ago on the H.A.M.B. 😁 https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/60’s-5-spoke-wheel-id.1207610/ There they are at 5:00:
  11. Does anyone know the manufacturer and model of the 5-spoke wheels included in the original 1/25 AMT '66 Mustang Hardtop/Convertible kit? Maybe that info is called out on the instruction sheet? 1:1 wheel inside the AMT facility:
  12. Saw this complete, original 1/25 AMT 1966 Mustang GT Fastback kit on eBay, so have a look at the (partial, I didn't save every image) contents. Might be useful for comparison when the re-created '66 Mustang Fastback debuts later in 2022 from Round2.
  13. Comparison between what remains of the original 1/25 AMT '65 Mustang 2+2/'66 Mustang GT (top), and the original '66 GT parts (bottom). 5-spoke mag wheels, front and rear bumpers, and modified (open areas for lenses now filled in) tail light bezels:
  14. That makes sense, and should satisfy most people. A decent stock body alone is probably enough to entice most serious builders to buy. I would guess we'll see '66 style retro box art, similar to the original, like so:
  15. Yes, usually by waist size, which, I think is the measurement in inches. If you have a Goodwill or similar nearby, that's a good place to try on different brands and styles, with the catch being you can pick and chose which brands and styles, unless they have it in house. Still, the Goodwills I frequent have tons of belts, ties, shirts, pants, etc., but the selection can vary from store to store. Shoe shopping is the worst, but it's kind of a necessary thing. Zappo's might be worth a try, with free shipping both ways. They are always offering nice e-coupons, too. I recently got a $40 off coupon, and promptly bought a pair of shoes. 😁 I rarely buy any new clothes online with being able to try them on (I mean, how they fit is important), but I think several places have a try it at home, then return if you don't like it service, which might be worth checking into.
  16. Winfield "Tera -Thrust" wheels found in the AMT '64 Ford Galaxie 500XL Hardtop kit: And the AMT 1965 Chevy Impala Convertible kit:
  17. Thanks. I wasn't sure from Jamie's comments what was found/known to remain from the last of the original '65/'66 fastback, if anything unique.
  18. A 1/25 first gen Mustang fastback is long overdue. Hopefully the chassis and engine are updated, too, but guess we'll have to wait and see.
  19. Low quality screen capture, but it appears the ex-Lindberg 1/25 '66 Chevelle SS is going to be reissued in a fauxback style retro box, very similar to the 1966 Chevy Nova from a few years ago:
  20. What became of the Quad Overhead Cam Ford Racing engine which was once included with the AMT Car Craft Dream Rod? It disappeared when the kit was modified to the Tiger Shark: Maybe the blurb underneath the engine is a clue?
  21. Technically not an album, but this post-Morrison Doors live version of "Ships With Sails" audio session from The Old Grey Whistle Test is quite the jam:
