  1. I think these steel wheels (and the matching wide whites) are the "new" set Revell tooled up to include with the Tweedy Pie and 1/25 '31 Model A Sedan reissues within the last decade or so, too?
  2. What did you name it? Or would stating that not pass the censor?
  3. Where have we seen this before...
  4. Did you read those existing topics?
  5. I never tire of looking at your projects progress, Charlie. Beautiful craftsmanship in every step. Great tips regarding the points on the brass rod and the door hinges, too.
  6. I would suggest adding a bit of wear on the top edge of the tailgate, as that area always has things resting on it, hand gripping it, and the paint getting dinged and chipped, too. I have little to no experience weathering a model, so take this with a few grains of salt, but as stated earlier, don't overdo the weathering. Better to leave the scratches, paint chips, and stains shallower, smaller, and fainter, as it's the more subtle contrasts which make thing look more realistic. The seat damage and wear you added is a good example of adding just enough.
  7. Thanks, JC. I think I am finally happy with the front leaf spring mounts, so I fine tuned and cleaned them, then plugged all the spring eyes with styrene tube. Once the superglue had set on each plug/eye, I drilled a .020" hole for each bolt, and now all are a snug fit, with minimal play. With the front leaf springs and brackets in position, I test ft the GMC Astro front beam axle and checked for engine clearance again: That should be plenty of clearance. I might end up replacing the Astro axle with a scratchbuilt brass axle, but first I need to re-install the rear suspension and set everything on the wheels and tires to check how everything sits. It's been a few years and suspension changes since I last checked the stance, and a preliminary test fit of the rear leaf springs on the frame shows I need to adjust the curvature of the top two leaves for a better fit. I also need to either commit to soldering the alignment bolt to the rear leaves or find a longer bolt which can be removed and reinstalled as many times as desired, the latter being my preferred choice. I re-checked the width of the front axle with the wheels, tires, and backing plates in place against the cab, and everything looked good, so no issues there.
  8. Stumbled across this on eBay and saved a few of the pics. Is this an original promo? It sure looks like an AMT promotional model with the model year cast into the license plate areas on the bumpers and the like colored interior and body parts. It even has a separate hood, though I'm not sure that's original?
  9. Newly created steel wheels from AMT '65 Ford Galaxie 500XL, with no cooling slots : Below, top row: Unknown AMT deep steel wheels, both with molded closed cooling slots. Second row: Maroon front (on left) and rear (on right) wheels from the 1/25 Revell '64 Ford T-bolt kits Third row: Metallic blue painted resin wheels from The Good Stuff. Not sure if these are copies of JO-HAN wheels? Bottom row: Front and rear six lug steel wheels from the 1/25 Revell '57 Chevy 150 Utility Sedan "Black Widow" kit: Below, from left: Unknown AMT deep wheel, AMT '50 Chevy Pickup rear wheel(?), Revell '68 Dodge Charger R/T 14" wheel:
  10. AMT 1099, should be available in late June or so?:
  11. Pic of the new AMT PP019 Firestone Double Pinstripe Tires parts pack:
  12. OK, I was merely guessing. Perhaps something on the body section of the mold was messed up when it was last run for Stevens International and needed attention. I'm sure there'll be a Collector Model post when the kit's release date is closer.
  13. I am a huge fan of the monochromatic '80s look, and the red was a good color choice. Looks really nice so far.
  14. After more measuring (what did I ever do before I owned a dial caliper?), cutting, bending and sanding, I managed to end up with two front leaf spring brackets which fit both the frame rails and leaf spring eyes properly, so with that step complete, I will move on to cleaning up both brackets a bit more and drilling holes for the rivets and spring eye bolts. The springs seem to be even and parallel with each other, but there's still some room left to adjust them if needed. Here's how things look now: A "third hand" soldering tool is one of the most helpful things I've purchased since I started soldering more often, and a tool I'd highly recommend to anyone else doing the same...your finger tips will thank you.
  15. See comparison here: http://www.scalemodelnews.com/2013/02/who-ya-gonna-call-amt-125-scale.html They appear to be one and the same, just different decals and thing son the roof: http://round2corp.com/model-kit-instructions/uploads/amt750.pdf Simple one-piece, promo style chassis on the PL kit: Same for AMT kit:
  16. Good choice regarding the roof section, and I like how you blended both at the C-pillars. A proper 4-door needs a more formal roof line for rear headroom. You've probably seen this already but in case not:
  17. Didn't this kit have a separate fender or running board on one side, maybe related to or since the "Diamond in the Rough" modified reissue?
  18. Originally a Lindberg kit, now packaged under the AMT label, the 1/20 scale 1992 Toyota 4x4 Pickup should be available soon:
  19. Hmmm, not sure if those are the same as found in AMT's '65 Galaxie 500XL kit or not. Hard to tell with the chrome plating. I do like the new steel wheels Round2 has created and included in a few of their reissued kits, including both mentioned above, as well as these from the AMT Grumpy Jenkins '66 Nova kit:
  20. They did. Pics of both the 'Revell '40 Standard and '48 Coupe stock flatheads here:
  21. Pics of both the 1/25 Revell '40 Ford Standard Coupe and '48 Ford Police 2'n1 Coupe's flathead V8 engines, as well as he instruction sheets: '40 Ford Coupe: '48 Ford Coupe: Detail pic of belts and front covers. I forgot to include the distributors for both, but they are different-- hopefully you can see the differences in the above images which match what's shown on the instruction sheets. The transmissions, at least the left side of the case, are slightly different, too.
  22. Are you asking about the stock flathead engine in both kits?
