Newly reissued Revell BRE Datsun 510 Racecar kit
Casey replied to '70 Grande's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Was the Union version the most recent reissue before the Revell-Monogram (SSP?) reissue from 1996? -
1/24 Monogram Blue Bandito '29 Ford Street Rod
Casey replied to Austin T's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Yep, same here. Makes no sense they'd release a kit in the SSP line, then release it as a regular kit, unless there was a huge demand for it and hobby shops sold out of the SSP versions. Ah well, the Blue Beetle Bandito is still easily found for those who want one. -
1/24 Monogram Blue Bandito '29 Ford Street Rod
Casey replied to Austin T's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Or maybe they'll sneakily add it among the "regular" line, as they did with the Black Widow which James mentioned previously. -
That's gorgeous, Chuck, especially the yellow over white two-tone paint combo.

Big loads... Some pics
Casey replied to mdlbldrmatt135's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's a bit surprising, as I wouldn't think such a load could safely maintain the minimum speed, but I get back roads are not a better option. Is there anything under the bottom of the "box" at all, or is the load supported from the sides on the main trailer section?: -

'40 Ford Coupe: Lindberg same as AMT ?!?
Casey replied to Intmd8r's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm just repeating what I've heard and read: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/?showtopic=10020 -
Too much for me, but I'm not the one buying replacement tires. Great to see this project back on the workbench, Greg.

The only problem is the KRACO "race car" trailer you have is also quite old (early to mid '70s), as is basically the old AMT moving trailer with new decals. If you want a newer tractor trailer combo, either of the Moebius tractors and trailers will be fine.

Yeah, that's big. Looks like some type of power generating system? Is that dump trucking helping push? -
No, prices are the one thing which shouldn't be posted here. People can contact Freemont and get that info straight from them, though.

'40 Ford Coupe: Lindberg same as AMT ?!?
Casey replied to Intmd8r's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Lindberg acquired the tooling for that kit from Palmer, but IIRC Palmer pretty much copied the AMT kit. They are not the same kit, though. The Lindberg '34 Ford pickup? Yes, that IS the AMT '34 Ford pickup kit. -
That was a 2014 release.
-
They've only formally announced their 1st Quarter releases, which IIRC were posted here on the forum with the iHobby news/announcements. I did mention some Round2 reissues which I think are due in the second quarter of 2015 HERE It's nice to have a single reference topic containing all of the quarterly announcements, but it gets tricky when we start to discuss a specific kit in a topic which covers all of the annual releases from one company. That's why I prefer to start a new topic to discuss each specific kit, rather than add comments about a specific kit in the annual releases topic(s).

Greenfield News & Hobbies
Casey replied to lordairgtar's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I disagree, and I bet I'm not alone in enjoying the experience of walking through an old, cramped hobby shop, surrounded by vintage kits, supplies, and basically walking into a time warp. It's an experience some of us enjoy, and we can look past the negatives (leaky roof, narrow, cramped aisles) and focus on the positives, especially the kits. HH has a pretty good selection of OOP kits, and while they aren't all steals, there are still plenty of good deals to be had if you know your stuff and are willing to look. Where else can you walk in and walk out with an MPC "Pumping Iron" Dodge pickup, IMC Lemon Popcycle, and a Monogram Chevy Luv Stepsider? They (at least the Burleigh store) have a good selection of supplies, too. I just found all three specific pieces of Evergreen sheet styrene I needed, two lengths of aluminum bar stock, some vintage Detail Master photo etch pieces, and a kit for a fellow forum member. I guess I liken HH to a salvage yard which has been open for many years and has lots of vintage vehicles. I would survive just fine if they disappeared, but the experience of walking through and finding a few hidden gems would be something I'd miss, and something which wasn't nor couldn't be equaled at any other hobby shop locally. -
Looks like AMT did just that on the pre-finished "Masterpiece" "kits": This kit was created from all new tooling, with nothing from the original '60s era '60 Starliner, correct?

Not mine, but I did get a chuckle out of the vintage Tetstors gloss purple bottle being pictured, and well as the gloss red(!)-painted interior tub.

Nothing wrong with that. They are easily found on eBay for $15 or less, or www.jimnohio.com is pretty reasonable on OOP kits. You might try the Wanted section here, too.
