  1. I had no idea there were so many variety of refuse bodies, and so many companies which were all in competition to produce them. I just finished reading the GarWood history article over at the Classic Refuse Trucks 'site http://www.classicrefusetrucks.com/index.html, and I can't imagine how anyone would decide which specific make and model to produce if making multiple copies. Granted, anything would be better than nothing, but the variety is astounding. Talk about trucks we take for granted...

  3. Are you copying the "code for forums" link in your fotki account?
  4. I love that orange /cream stripe version in the brochure. Looking forward to watching this one progress, Sean. Was the cab/hood/sleeper stripe ever available from AMT in any other color but yellow?
  5. My order from Scale Hardware arrived this morning, so I was able to get all four fuel tank brackets drilled and test fit with the brass bolts in place:
  6. Separated at birth?: It looks good, with just the right amount of grime on the engine.
  7. Thanks, guys. Chuck's link to the C-Series tanker images was extremely helpful, especially the door jamb image shown below, so with that are in mind, it was time to do some cutting in the stepwell area. AMT squared the front of the stepwell area off when it should have been more rounded, at least the section where the windshield washer reservoir resides, like so: I cut off the front of the stepwell area and added a quarter-round section of 5/8" diameter styrene to get the shape closer to the real thing. After everything has cured, I'll bevel the quarter-round piece to match the angle of the floor. After this one small step, here's what it look like: Underneath the cab I added a piece if 1/16" styrene rod to support the joint, but eventually that area will be smoothed once I add another filler piece to match the thickness of the stepwell's sides, seen as the white styrene pieces the round rod butts up against: I think I have an idea regarding how I'm going to make the hinge pins, too, but there's still lots of jamb work to do before I get to that point.
  8. Hope this one hasn't been posted yet:
  9. Prepare for disappointment. I've owned the hatchback version, and let's just say the outside of the box is the best part of the kit.
  10. Due to arrive in February/March 2015 in two versions, molded in either white or orange. Check out the kit's contents here: http://modelkitreviews.proboards.com/thread/118/25-amt-mercury-cougar-eliminator?page=1&scrollTo=136
  11. Due out in February 2015:
  12. You can contact them directly, Mike: http://www.round2models.com/replacement/#parts
  13. The 1/24 Monogram Stinger dragster.
  14. Licensing costs for one. I've also been told VW is not easy to deal with and got a lot of new staff in their licensing arm two years ago or so.
  15. It seems unnecessarily redundant. You'd have a new topic containing all of your in progress builds for 2014 in the OTW section, plus all of the existing individual topics for each of those very same in progress projects in the OTW section. I'm pretty sure there are at least two stalled project type topics in the OTW section, too, and maybe even a Community Build topic to get those projects moving again.
  16. We considered having an eBay specific post/section a while ago, but then we'd have to make sure everything posted isn't something a member or a friend of a friend isn't selling themselves, and we'd get, well, the comments above, too, so we decided against it. As long as it's not someone blatantly selling their own stuff and the item(s) is/are something model-related worth discussing (like these original AMT art prints), post it. As for these prints, they are in remarkable condition compared to other original prints I've seen, but their condition may be why they are priced how they are. It shouldn't be too much trouble to ask for some authentication if you're serious about buying, either. Something like this:
  17. Yep, the MPC 1/25 Dodge Monaco, aka Duke's of Hazzard Roscoe's Police Car/JOker Goon Car/TJ Hooker poilce car has a very deep set of steel wheels, with distinct fronts and rears.
  18. Try a Photobucket account for photohosting. Here's a pic of the Cragar S/S wheels form the recent AMT Baldwin Motion kit, courtesy of Vince: http://public.fotki.com/VincePutt/scale-modeling-1/amt-baldwin-motion-/baldwin-motion-camaro-1/amt-baldwin-motion-2.html
  19. You broke rule #1. The Outfield - Your Love
  20. You'll need new engine mounts and exhaust manifolds, as the Vette pieces won't swap over to nor fit inside of the Camaro's subframe. Then there's the radiator and shroud which must be changed, new radiator hoses, changing the interior to the base interior...
  21. The non Pro Shop version has a single 4-bbl carb: I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing this kit again very soon in a fauxback box.
  22. Which is correct for the '55 265-- the oil filter wasn't added until 1956. The valve covers also have the early bolt pattern. ^ This
