  1. 1) Reads to me as a nice complement regarding the corrections and works done to the corrected body master. 2) Is what I think Dan is referring to, so Jason can you clarify what you meant? I see the trunk lid peak is now present, something which wasn't done on the Revell body, but what are the other body mods which you wish were "portrayed more boldly"? Are they supposed to be bold and noticeable on the 1:1, and should be bolder on the model or something else? It's hard to tell from the comparison shots exactly what is too small, but is the body close to 1/26 scale? Is it underscaled in all dimensions- height, width, length, wheelbase, etc.? Just trying to get a specific idea on what "The only problem is, that the casting is small. much smaller then I anticipated." means, if it's not what I asked at the beginning of this paragraph.
  2. I wonder how many people knew Revell reverse engineered the Dragon Wagon Circus Wagon and Rommel's Rod (the Tijuana Taxi, too?) kits when Revell released them a few years ago, too. I mentioned backdating the Dog Catcher/Sand Shark and Lil Van/Sand Crab kits to Ed Sexton in April, but I don't think the latter has the same appeal and sales potential as the Dragon Wagon and Rommel's Rod kits, at least not enough to justify the cost of new/backdated tooling. The Dog Catcher, maybe.
  3. ^^^ This is why they keep reissuing them.
  4. Yes, they are, and the trans is very narrow, too.
  5. Not sure if this'll help much, but here are the Monogram '55's bed parts: ...and the bed floor, molded as one with the cab floor and running boards:
  6. At the risk of being "that guy," wow, that's really bad, and not in an easy location to correct.
  7. I was told that more or less directly-- Tom's kits, especially the "standards" like the Red Baron, Paddy Wagon, Cop Out, Pie Wagon, Cherry Bomb, etc. are the closest thing Revell has to a guaranteed sale, save for maybe SnapTite Corvettes and Ferraris. Revell has dabbled in the fringe TD kits, too, reissuing four of the caricature cars in 2001 or so (Street Cleaner, Roarin' Rail, etc.), and I asked Ed Sexton in April if they had an interest in releasing the others such as the Screamin' Vette, Boss Mustang, Dune Rat, and Thunder Bug, so maybe someday. I would be willing to bet the construction caricatures will never be reissued, though.
  8. I can't think of anyone who does. I checked Altered States and they don't, but maybe Mark Johnson makes one? Or maybe TDR Innovations has one which can be 3D printed?
  9. Scale Auto Hobby & Toy Show, Nov. 3, 2013 @ American Serb Hall 5101 W Oklahoma Ave. Milwaukee, WI 53219
  10. I would appreciate it, Kerry. Even on the S-10 forums I haven't had any luck.
  11. We have a calendar: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?app=calendar

  13. Those three are probably Lindberg's three best kits. There was an issue with the '61's cowl when it was first issued, but it was later corrected.
  14. Not sure why I didn't take pics of the early steps of the cab splicing, but that's what I did. I sliced off the back 2mm or so of one cab, then measured carefully and cut the rear scale 18" of the second cab, then mated them. I did need to add a thin sheet of styrene to the rear piece's roof to decrease the overall roof taper, but just the usual careful measuring and flat, flush joints were required. If anyone has a clear shot of the rear area of the extended cab, on both sides, please let me know. It's been near impossible to find a clear image which shows the shape of each jump seat in the folded up position as well as what the interior side panels look like.
  15. Very, early '90s maybe. Just posted them for reference regarding who made them, in case they pop up on eBay.
  16. I thought someone here with some distributor knowledge said they've both been discontinued, but your comments on the distinction between development time and actual time spent working on the kit are spot on. Most of us will never know what goes on behind the scenes and what was planned but never came to be, and we usually don't end up finding out until years later. If we're lucky, a few of the kits eventually beat the odds and end up on store shelves, like those Brett mentioned a few posts earlier.
  17. This is headed down the same path as the Mustang LX kit review topic, so let's focus on the kit being discussed-- Revell's upcoming '70 Hemi 'cuda-- and not take this as an opportunity to personally challenge those who don't feel the body is accurate or those who feel it's just fine as it is. We've all heard the arguments on both sides many, many times, so let's stick to discussing the kit and sharing your opinions regarding the kit's parts, proportions, etc.
  18. CCR Resin...ever heard of them or have more info on the company?
  19. Yup. JO-HAN kits always had beautifully engraved details, too, as seen on this '69 Roadrunner:
  20. Nostalgia. It will be available molded in white, packaged in a standard box, too.
  21. Great idea to use the jerry can as the fuel tank Richard.
  22. Sorry, got distracted by the failed Sarah Silverman pilot. Isn't Cruise like, almost a foot shorter than Shelby? It's not like there are any tall, native Texan actors out there with more charisma, personality, and appeal than Cruise to be cast instead... He probably turned it down knowing how bad it will probably be.
  23. I got the floorpan section with the spare tire well plastic welded in place, and shot the rear half of the chassis with some primer, just to see how things looked. I'm pleased with how the ribs on the well look less pronounced and more like the real stamped ribs, but there are some areas which need (and by now already received) a bit of filler before the next coat of primer: In this close-up shot of the cowl vent you can see the gaps are going to need some attention, as a few are not flush with the others, and almost all need reshaping at the forward end:
