  1. I'll be there, and at the Model Empire Open House the first Sunday in December.
  2. We understand those comments were the exception rather than the rule, and were not representative of any country as a whole. Now back to models...
  3. That's what's interesting about it, at least to me. I guess I assumed it would be partially based on the existing parts from the Monogram Revell '55 Bel Air Convertible, and that was why they hadn't shown the rest of the parts, only the new parts specific to this kit. I'm now guessing it's based on the '57 210/Bel Air/'56 Nomad tooling instead, which all have a separate fuel tank and vertical spare tire well insert piece which inserts into the chassis/floorpan. Looking at the instructions for all four Revell Tri-Five kits, the only difference I can see between any of the exhaust systems is the tips, so I don't see what needs to be changed for use with the convertible's X-brace.
  4. Yes, the convertible's X-brace is comprised of right and left halves:
  5. That's exactly how Revell handled it with the original release of the kit under the Pro Modeler label, and those same four lift blocks are still found in the Revell '68 Charger R/T kit. You can also add block between the rearend and leaf springs to raise the rear.
  6. Scale Production: www.scaleproduction.de
  7. You have to look for the Village of Kewaskum listing, but there are some big detail shots of a 1980 Ford C-900 Welch Tanker Truck here: http://wisconsinsurplus.com/
  8. Are you planning to decrease the rear fenders' wheel openings to match the real car's?
  9. For one of the 1/32 Lindberg kits, this one is amazing! Beautiful work, Mike.
  10. I don't know if it's a sponsor, a team owner for a race car or a real auto manufacturer, but when I discussed VW kits with Ed Sexton, he mentioned VW was not an easy company to obtain licensing from, that Revell and Revell-AG are considered completely different entities as far as licensing is concerned, and that VW's licensing arm had gone through some changes recently, so it could be many factors while dealing with one single entity or company which is causing a delay with one particular kit or series of kits.
  11. If you think Revell is trying to cover themselves somehow by delaying releases, fine. No harm in saying it if that's what you truly believe. I'd prefer to read someone's honest opinion on a model-related topic, without them being concerned if what they post is right or wrong. What they have to say may in fact be true. If they're wrong, welcome to the club. New members are always welcomed and nobody is ever turned away. Odds are pretty good we're all already members, but some have yet to receive their fez in the mail. Regarding facebook, there's always going to be overlap since Revell has made it a part of their online presence, but the opinions posted about facebook which have nothing to do with Revell or model cars and trucks are what derail topics and don't benefit the forum in any way.
  12. I see some similarities between the above and this concept (not sure if it has a name?) from 2008: Maybe this one ^^^ should've existed three years ago and come between the current and future versions.
  13. I don't see why your opinions should carry any less weight than any other member's, so if that's how you honestly feel, say so. One request, and this is not aimed at you Jon, but please, let's leave facebook and your opinions about it completely out of this discussion. facebook is quickly catching up with WalMart, politics, and similar taboo topics here because whenever someone mentions it, someone else takes the opportunity to rag on it, judge people who use it, and so on. Revell's facebook page is model-related, but it's getting to the point where the mere mention of it here causes the topic to derail and get personal between members, and that is the opposite, both in sprit and execution, of why this forum exists.
  14. Maybe we've just grown accustomed to the U.S. kit manufacturers announcing their intentions for the next year every June and October, to attend iHobby, etc., but that's no longer the case for all of them. I'm pretty sure was Hobbico's decision to not attend iHobby, and Revell didn't attend last year, either, so it's clear things have changed for them, and maybe they just want to try something different and are trying to find out what works best. Maybe announcing the kits at the Toldeo NNL was a one year only thing for Revell, and this year they have a different plan which they will follow in future years? Maybe they feel it was a mistake to announce them at the 2012 Toledo NNL? It could be many things, but I don't think they're going to lose any interest by taking a few more days or weeks to make their announcement, even if that means the announcement date is later than we expected.
  15. "Accuracy trumps speed everyday and twice on Friday." I'll stick with what you said Sunday. In all seriousness, I don't see the need to tie any particular kit to a specified arrival date. I understand retailers like to be kept abreast of what's coming up, and a delay may result in the loss of a potential sale or ten, but I can't think of anything which would be seriously affected by a kit being delayed for a few months or even a year. Does anybody have to have a '57 Chevy Bel Air convertible in December 2013 instead of June 2014? Does Revell lose some credibility with a few folks if they have six automotive kits per year released later than originally planned and announced? Probably, but for the vast majority of their customers and even for more serious builders like most of us who log on here, I don't see it as being a problem. Those people, and us, will still buy it when it finally arrives on store shelves. How many times have you heard someone say, "I REALLY wanted to buy that all-new 1/25 Revell '51 Aero Willys in June when it was supposed to be here, but since it didn't arrive until December, there's NO WAY I'm buying it, even though I still really want it!" Be honest. If you, me or anyone else wants it, they're plunking down $24.95 for it in December, even if it was supposed to be here in June.
  16. No, we should keep it on topic, as we were.
  17. Maybe the beans have already been spilled somewhere on the forum?
  18. Just noticed this on the back of one of the Parts Pack packages: Bodies? Motors?? Decal sets??? Maybe Round2 is digging out some of the other vintage Parts Packs in the near future...
  19. First, the first article you linked to is over a year old. Second, we don't discuss politics, the government's financial doings, etc., here, so please refrain from posting such topics, even in the off-topic section. Thanks.
  20. And twice on October 4th. : http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=27452
  21. We can help you with that, if you pick up a polishing kit and are willing to learn.
  22. Here is the locked review topic if you're up for reading through it: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65168&page=3&hl=%2Bmustang+%2Blx#entry873303 The main issues are covered in the above topic, and even better in some of the Model Cars: OTW topics here on the forum, such as the one Lawrence linked to. The engine, interior, and chassis have gotten very positive reviews, but the roof discrepancy is a major problem. Fortunately some people have stepped up and provided a solution for the latter: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=78577
  23. Welcome, Carlos, and welcome back to the hobby.
  24. Revell has never stated an official date for their 2014 announcements, so when they are ready, they'll let us know. Gerry was told it will be sometime on OR after October 15, 2013, so that's as official as it gets. The announcements will be here soon enough, so please, be patient.
