  1. I've never seen the undercoat (whatever it is, not totally sure it's a lacquer based product to be honest) etch itself nor become one with the styrene, but 24 hours soaking in Easy Off oven cleaner has always removed it for me.
  2. I hereby challenge thee to a teens era buildoff! I will be using this :
  3. You can't go wrong with the current Revell Shelby GT500 kit- for $45 ($55 or so delivered to your door) it's a steal, and it goes together easily. For anyone's "first" 1/12 (or big scale for that matter), it'd be tough to beat.
  4. Maybe use the engine parts from one of the Monogram steam locomotives? I want to say one of the AMT or MPC fire-themed show rods also had a steam engine (someone was looking for parts for the kit not too long ago here), but it's not the AMT Firebug...Cinderbug, maybe?
  5. You may want to check out their website, as it appears/sounds like they are effectively out of business (or at least not taking any new orders) for a few years now: http://www.arrowheadaluminum.com/
  6. K&S Engineering and Special Shapes are now one, so any well stocked Ace Hardware store will probably carry a good selection, or can probably order directly from K&S. Ditto for styrene from Plastruct or Evergreeen. As Harry suggested, let the Google and the internet do the leg work for you. You can probably get just about everything you want through Amazon.com, too...with free shipping.
  7. Sorry to disappoint. How's your Matador coming along?
  8. Perfect stance and color, and the 6-BBL hood/scoop always looks good on a '69. Nicely done, Keith.
  9. I haven't been for many years..sixteen to be exact. I will try to make it in 2013, but now the pressure to finish is on! All the reference I have was pulled of the web, and interior shots seem to be non-existent. I did notice the car uses the AMX woodgrain steering wheel and what look to be AMX bucket seats, so I will probably use most of the AMX dash, column, steering wheel, etc. and the interior tub. The chassis is going to take a ton of work, though, but at least I have the freedom to guess what the area behind the seats was like. The trunk bustle is my next hurdle, as the rear overhang is so stubby, adding any extra length means the oustide corners need to be sloped even more, and the "trunk" contour more rounded. Thanks for that pic, Rob. I think I'm sticking with the red, white and blue version, as the color scheme meshes so well with the AMC logo. Looking forward to seeing some of your AMC projects, too.
  10. I think the Big Deuce has been re-issued five or six times, but it sure would be nice to see it all returned to original, including the '60s instruction booklet:
  11. The Revell Shelby GT500 Mustang is the easiest to find right now, but the Monogram '69 Camaro Z/28, '67 Vette 427, and '57 Bel Air are easily found on eBay and similar sites, not to mention right here in the Swap/Trade or Wanted sections of the forum. Trumpeter's GT40 kit is still not too hard to find, and there are other mostly Japanese and European subjects from Tamiya, too.
  12. Just FYI, it wasn't me who attempted to paint the raised white letters on those tires. Glad you can at least use the front tires, Brodie.
  13. Here's a decent feature article on the (I'm assuming) restored K.S. Pittman '41Willys gas coupe, with a nice low-angle engine shot: http://www.cartechbo...ittmans41willys
  14. The Revell '67 Chevelle's spindles are pretty sturdy if I remember correctly. The upper control arms, which are separate pieces, support the top of the spindle, and the wheel back fit the spindles very well, just like most Revell kits since 1990 or so.
  15. I don't think anybody did-- and I sure didn't. Just trying to head off the inevitable "When is this kit coming out? They anounced it last October!! It's been over a year!!" questions. I don't have blind faith in any "announced" release date, but I don't worry over when a kit is going to arrive. It'll be here when it gets here, and I think that's all these dates should be used as- estimates.
  16. These both look very similar to me, but I don't know if I'd call them the same cab as the Dodge above? Interesting, either way:
  17. Revell's '65 Impala convertible is due out soon- maybe some of those convertible specific parts would be of some use?
  18. Tower Hobbies' release dates: '50 Olds Coupe 2'n 1 - late September '62 'Vette Raodster 2'n 1 - late August '57 Ford Custom 2'n 1 - December 2012
  19. Yes, I guess you could call them spindles. The front suspension is molded as one piece- lower control arms, spindles, steering knuckles, etc. The spindles are basically a place for the wheel backs to attach to.
  20. Darrin, are you wanting a ZR2 decal for this kit? If so, I think you'd need to have it custom printed.
  21. I should've clarified- Round2 is re-issuing the three surfer figures (or at least Hot Curl & Curl's Girl), not the Model As.
  22. Haven't heard of that kit being re-issued, but Round2 is re-issuing these three:
  23. Yes, it fits quite well.
  24. Here you go, Mike: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52347 You may want to PM David in case he doesn't see your post.
