  1. They are a bit pricey, though, at $23.99 each. Something tells me the licensing fees added to the retail price of these kits, as the very similar Zingers! kits retailed for almost $10.00 less. I'll keep an eye out for some cheap ones if you want, Christian.
  2. Fingers crossed the Bull Horn has a nice set of pie crust slicks.
  3. Mine, too, and probably why I am a huge fan of Commer vans:
  4. Actually, you missed it, too, Brad. I was joking about the fact that Plymouth labelled the intake setup as "6BBL" while Dodge referred to it as "6 PACK" in the '69 A-12 Road Runner/Super Bee cars. Same engine, different decals and nomenclature. In all seriousness, the current '70 Super Bee kits should do the trick as a intake and carb donor.
  5. From the other Revell new releases thread: "As a level setter to the overall market, Revell did say their biggest selling kits are Snaptite and wear the bow tie emblem." Snap kits sell, and kids and adults recognize a Ferrari when they see it. They don't care if it's and Enzo, F50, or a GTO, but if it's red and looks racy, young boys will probably recognize it as being a Ferrari, associate it with speed and going fast, and want it.
  6. There was/is a different seller on eBay from Romeo, MI (which I think is close to Detroit?) selling original JoHan box art renderings/art which was displayed in the lobby of the JoHan building, too.
  7. If only we could get a similar era Bedford van, or if we're really dreaming, a late '70s Commer....drool.
  8. The RR and Wile E Coyote kits are already out and in stores, but I don't think they plan to release any other Warner Bros. cartoon based kits.
  9. The Original Art Series box art for the Gremlin is gorgeous.
  10. Gerry, thank you so for posting the pics and info. Lots of great stuff there. A few observations/comments: Did anyone else notice the Willys gasser has a set of painted side view mirrors on the box art?: It appears whoever did the box art (or built the box art model) for the Chevy van has never seen how they mount: It looks like there's a nice set of large diameter Hurst-like mags included in the Vette kit: Major kudos for stepping up and knocking another most wanted kit off the list in the '50 Olds. Should be a nice source for an early Olds OHV V-8, and the street rod/kustom fans will love this one. Interesting to hear that Chevy Snap kits are Revell's biggest sellers, too. The 1/16 big rig should make a lot of big scale modelers happy. No more paying $250+ for one on ebay. Good to see the '70 Road Runner return as well.
  11. If you have a Tuesday Morning store near you, they seem to carry the same kits.
  12. I'm curious if you'll be modifying the tires at each corner to reflect the weight imbalance too?
  13. Wouldn't work, as that would be a 440 6-BBL engine, being in/from a Plymouth.
  14. I think you'd be better off starting with the 1/25 MPC Eckler Corvette kit, which was re-issued under the AMT brand not too long ago. It probably includes the custom body pieces you need, which would save you a lot of work. The MPC 1/16 Trans Am kit is poor in most areas, and although I've never built any of MPC's 1/16 Vettes, I wouldn't expect anything great.
  15. I would suggest that the original wood, metal and plastic model kits produced in the '50s and the promotional scale model cars given away at dealerships were in fact toys, intended to be played with by children.
  16. I suspect the front blown Olds in the Revell Orange Crate kit is as close as you'll find for now. I thought the New Monogram (Revell) Circus Wagon was mostly reverse engineered from Monogram's Dragon Wagon kit, too?
  17. I noticed the side windows on the Revell link picture. Are they truly operational or are they posable? I forgot this kit was released as part of the Monogram Classics line a few years ago, too:
  18. That's a great tool. The only problem for me is I almost never complete a model far enough to get to the decal application stage. Thanks for posting this as I'm sure it will help a bunch of people.
  19. I bet it's due the difference in mechanical window mechanisms. The older scissor type worked well until they started to wear, especially the nylon rollers and the gear teeth, but they "felt" very solid when cranking. Many U.S manufacturers changed to cable type mechanisms, which weigh less and use less materials, but don't have the same solid "feel" as the scissor type.
  20. I just got my kit Thursday, so I am going to get started on some wheels for this kit this week. I really like the two-piece construction of these wheels and we finally have some modern low-profile tires in 1/12 scale. This kit "feels" an awful lot like Monogram's 1/12 '69 Camaro Z/28 kit, and that's a good thing.
  21. Maybe I wasn't paying attention in class, but how do these re-issues work with Model King? Does MK only market the kits? Who actually drags out the tooling, inspects it, and eventually molds these re-issued kits? What has me curious is the fact this is a JoHan kit, and AFAIK, JoHan used a very unique and outdated injection molding setup, plus I thought Okey Spaulding still has the rights to the JoHan kits and tooling?
  22. I got it from Menards, a Midwestern discount lumber and hardware store, Gregg. I did see another at another Menards store for $24.99 (not sure why the store I bought mine from was $14.99, but I'm not complaining), and it was also charcoal colored. They also show a red version on the box (which I tossed and didn't take pics of) and there was a red one on eBay not too long ago....but the price was a bit inflated. I guess they made 'em in blue, too: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-Ford-Shelby-GT500-1-16-Radio-Control-INCLUDES-BATTERIES-NEW-box-/140613943883?pt=Diecast_Vehicles&hash=item20bd3e824b#ht_500wt_1300
  23. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-BUDDY-L-TOY-CAR-PLASTIC-CUTLASS-6-5-1981-JAPAN-USED-OLDSMOBILE-/400245211532?pt=Diecast_Vehicles&hash=item5d3079418c#ht_500wt_1067 Discuss its accuracy.
  24. They are nice, but unfortunately they are 14" wheels. For 15" Torq Thrust wheels, I prefer those from Monogram's '69 Camaro (molded in orange) and '55 Ford Pickup (molded in yellow) kits:
