I'll bring the handbasket. Seriously, lock and/or delete this thread please, Mods....we all know where threads like this end up.

If all else fails, you may want to try mortising chisels.

I don't think there is. With MPC, AMT, and Revell all having done 1/25 scale '69 Mustangs, I think most people have gone that route instead of converting the 1/24 Monogram '70.

DENCON - No longer taking website orders

Considering you can buy two gallons of casting resin for $100 or so, you should be able to get more than five bodies out of that two gallons. Now, if you're offering large scale bodies that use large quantities of both casting rubber and resin, you're probably not going to keep ten kit on hand at all times, but smaller items (bumpers, wheels, etc.) use very little resin, so why not keep extras on hand? Once you fall behind and have to play catch-up, you get into trouble. -

Are they the same company/shop which built the 1:1 Monogram Black Widow a few years ago? *edit* Yep. -

Yeah, who cares about some old race car, more Yugo details!! Randy's sprint car looks incredible, and the pics/gallery seem to be working perfectly. -

That's kind of the point. If you can't deliver what you offer for sale in a reasonable amount of time after payment is received, you should either stop selling or get some help and increase prodcution so it matches or exceeds demand. Why not have excess product ready to ship if/when you receive more orders for your product? I disagree. It's posts like these that bring people out of the woodwork to share their experiences, both good and bad. People who have already paid for something and have received nothing after months of waiting aren't at fault here. They deserve good service and goods in a reasonable amount of time in exchange for their money. Letting other forum members know a certain vendor is not providing either one (or both) is not bashing, it's looking out for your fellow builder and preventing them from being taken advantage of. -
The wheels and tires in the Revell '32 Fords are not really that close to the Monogram parts in the Lil Deuce kit. The Lil Coffin is your best bet for the wheels and tires, as it has American Torq Thrust wheels and the pie-crust slicks with the separate sidewall. The Lil Coffin's wheel center caps may be slightly different (they are separate pieces), as I've never seen the Lil Deuce's wheels up close. I *think* the Lil Deuce and Blue Beetle shared the same wheels and tires, but neither are easy nor cheap to find these days. As mentioned, the grille is unique to the Lil (and Big) Deuce, but there's a review over in the New Kit Reviews section which has some good info about which versions of the kit contain the Starbird-designed grille.

They stock Magnum 500 wheels are supposed to be used with the Goodyear Steel Belted Radial tires, and the custom wheel match up with the Goodyear GT Radial tires. That said, the tires have all had their sidewalls "wiped clean", so you have to know which tires are which. As Mark said, I think you received some incorrect tires with your kit. I suggest you contact Revell and request correct tires, as I recall this happened to another member not too long ago and they sent him replacement tires.

I agree that honest and civilized discussion, both good and bad, of all aftermarket companies is a healthy thing for our hobby. Knowing who provides prompt service and good quality products is a benefit to model builders everywhere, as is knowing which companies have poor service, bad communication, and/or poor quality products. I'm not defending anyone, and as I said, I'll only speak for myself, but to dismiss all resin casters as a whole because two companies did not provide good service is not helping anyone. Should you be honest and say a certain aftermarket company has given you poor service and has yet to deliver the product you already paid for? Absolutely you should. I hope that by doing so it will prevent others (me included) from dealing with said company and going through what you have. Everybody wants what they paid for in a reasonable amount of time, and if the seller can't deliver in that time period, ask for or demand your money back. Unless it's explicitly stated that a product is made to order and will take X amount of days to be delivered, it's reasonable to expect something advertised is in stock and ready for delivery upon payment. I have a three business day shipping policy, but each person/business must decide for themselves what their business policies are. What works for one person/business might not work for another, and who am I to say that what I choose is the best way for anyone else? I guess my suggestion would be to e-mail or call whomever you plan to purchase from and ask them what their turn around time is, and what happens if they fail to meet that deadline. Use a purchase method (PayPal, or a major credit card for example) that gives you protection and allows you to get your money back if the product is not delivered in the promised time period. If they cannot specify a time period, it's up to you to decide whether you want to proceed and wait for what you paid for to be delivered. -

I can't and won't speak for anybody else, but please do not lump all resin casters together. Each is a distinct, separate business, and just becaue you've had bad experiences with two of them, it doesn't mean the other sixty-two aren't worthy of people's business. If you weren't happy with someone's service or product, do not buy from them again, and let other know about your honest experience. Are there aftermarket companies who get in over their heads and/or have poor business pratices? Absolutley. Are there some who offer excellent quality products in a timely manner? Yes to that, too. -
Looking for "Elinor" gt500 wheels
Casey replied to richcrabman's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
See Bob Downie's build here: http://www.opentrackaction.com/acmeforum/showthread.php?t=1556 The wheels are 15" in 1/24 scale, so they might look a tad small if you're building the modern version of Elenor from the GiSS movie with Nicholas Cage. -

Casey replied to richcrabman's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have these in resin, but I'm not sure if they're exactly what you're looking for, as there as several styles of these wheels which look similar, but are each slightly different: The max outside diameter measures .850" or 21.59mm, which equates to a scale wheel diameter of about 20" in 1/25 scale. -
1/12 sanders wheels
Casey replied to MicroNitro's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Are those 1/10 scale R/C tires you're using with the 1/12 scale wheels? -
I suggest you look at catalogs and pictures to get the correct size/measurements, then scale them down to 1/8 scale. Rod & Custom Magazine has done several articles on hidden hinges over the years, with lots of pics. Are you creating stock or hidden hinges?

Nice score on the Horn Toad, Andrew. Easily the most desirable of that lot since Monogram re-tooled it into the Rattler.

Clear decal paper has a clear carrier film and the backing paper is blue in color. Prining on white decal paper (i.e., white carrier film) means any item on the sheet needs to be cut out exactly along the edges, in order to avoid seeing the white edge when the decal is applied to the model. If you're prinitng shapes with straight edges, it's not an issue, but anything with a complex edge is not going to look good when cut out, unless you're perfect with an X-acto knife. One trick is to make the white areas slightly grey, but this can only fool the eye so much. IMO, using clear decal paper is the only way to get professional looking results.

do not try this at home
Casey replied to Lownslow's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, the paint is shiny, but the surface isn't flat and you can still see the orange peel in the paint. I think this would be a good method for final polishing, after using polishing cloths/paper to flatten the surface and eliminate any orange peel/roughness/texture. -
I think this Parts Pack set of M&H slicks would be a great idea. These are perhaps the best part of the Double Dragster and Double T kits.

69 Charger Instructions?

I noticed they had the Revell '32 Ford Sedan on clearance near me, too. I suspect HL is going to get some new Revell kits within the next month or so...maybe the '32 Ford 3-Window is replacing the Sedan?

How many BUILT kits does everyone have ?
Casey replied to Monte's Motors's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Seven. Any model I built in the past and wasn't enamored with was either parted out, sold, traded, or tossed.
