You're right, Matthew. I was probably thinking of the Midnight Cowboy wrecker, which is totally different.

I don't recall the Monogram-based '70 kit ever including a hood with a hole in it...unless you cut it out to clear the Cross Boss induction system. Is a hood without a hole not included in the current Special Edition '70 Boss 429/302/Mach 1 kit? I sure hope Revell never releases any kits based on a die-cast model. The Revell 1/125 '70 Challenger R/T T/A kit is proof that such a move is ill-advised.

Looks like Rodney picked up a new screen name, too. I picked up a Monogram 1/12 '69 Camaro Z/28 kit locally:

Looks like there's something to please (almost ) everyone. The Orange Crate and GMC (wasn't this a Chevy in previous issues?) Tow Truck will definitely be welcomed, and it looks like the Revell 1/25 VW Beetle will be re-issued under the Monogram Classic Cruiser label. I see the Revell '32 Ford 3-window is back, too, but now under the Monogram Classics line. Three newer '32 Ford kits available at once...times are good. Sadly, there is no mention of either the '48 Ford Custom nor the 1/12 Mustang GT-500 kits. Maybe they'll just release them when they're ready since they've already been shown as built ups. Thanks for posting this, Luc!

Never assume! Thanks for the heads up, Harry. -

I'm not too worried. If they want to spend all $3.14 in my account, have at it! Just another peril of modern life. -
The firewall end of the steering column/shaft should mount higher up on the firewall. Right now it appear to be touching the floorboard area, which is too low. I suggest you remove the torsion bars and the K-frame at this point.

VW unveils new microbus loved by hippies
Casey replied to 59-Desoto's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Considering the first gen VW Type 2 van's forward seating position, a retro design based on it just isn't possible these days. People expect to have a reasonable chance for survival in a frontal impact crash now, and with two layers of sheetmetal being the only cushion, that's just not going to cut it. VW has the New Beetle for retro appeal, and the re-design will ensure it's around for another decade plus. -
Here is the Doyusha '75 version, but it's quite cruse, as mentioned above: eBay '75 Buick Skyhawk Palmer also released a kit of a '75 Buick Skyhawk, but knowing what Palner kits are like, it's likely no better than Doyusha's version: eBay Palmer Buick Skyhawk

The Big Tub was delivered to my door today, courtesy of Hobby Lobby and UPS. This is really a great deal for <$75.00 delivered: ...and there was this eBay purchase, thank goodness it was cheap, as it's not pretty. I wanted to verify the Monogram Chevy pickup's bed is a shortbed and at least the bumpers, grille and glass are in useable condition: The box art, the best part of the kit!

1/8 Big Deuce- Starbird Grille Included?
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks, Al. -
Agreed. Scratchbuilding a fuel valve/pump in 1/16 is impressive, but 30+ pieces is borderline crazy. I can't even fathom how much patience it would take to do such a thing in 1/25 scale.

Model Roundup has the pics/info Rob was referring to here: http://www.modelroundup.com/product-p/trumpeter-2509.htm ...and it comes with an up-top, too!

Well, if nobody was intersted in ordering the kit before it was released and before any reviews of the kit were published, I'd say odds are good that people have decided they...:

Thanks for posting this. It's always nice to see and hear about other who are into 1/16 scale drag racing subjects. I really liked this quote, too- "I'd rather have one authentic model on my shelf than a cabinet full of approximations."

Do the Rsnchero and Country Squire share the same wheelbase, i.e., could Revell release modified version of one (similar chassis, engine, suspension, etc.) to get a second marketable kit?
-
I think it's time.

Love that box art, Pat. Here are two AMT 1/43 scale builts I purchased on eBay, both needing restoration. The Firebird is in nice shape and was never painted, but the silver paint on the custom 'Vette...well, let's just say that isn't going to buff out.

Yes, the tires are far too narrow for those wheels.

It might be an all-new '56 Ford Ranchero pickup tool. I think the non-custom '57 Ranchero rumor(?) has been bantered about for a few years now, but I'm sure a lot of people would like to see it happen. I suspect a '56 Ford pickup done much like the ex-Monogram 1/25 '50 Ford pickup would be a huge hit for Revell. Given Revell's history of creating new tooling for vintage pickups ('65 chevy, '41 Chevy, '37 Ford, etc.), a '56 Ford would fall right in line.

I have yet to see a tornado first hand, but there is that eerie sense of calm which precedes a tornado, and that's a pretty good warning that something bad is about to happen weather-wise. That's when it's time to head to the basement... And here I thought this thread was going to be about the Royal Wedding.

Derelict Dodge
Casey replied to Chuck Most's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The right headlight pigtail hanging out is a nice detail, and realistic from some 1:1 trucks I've seen.
