Interesting Comparisons
Casey replied to unclescott58's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Our family car was a '77 Celica GT liftback (exactly like the one below) which was a blatant knock off of the '69-'70 Mustang Sportsroof design, flared rear lip and all. -
I have my doubts they kept much of anything Lindberg related, at least on the automotive side of things. The 1/16 T-based kit(s) for sure, but the Mini Lindys and 1/32 scale kits are a bit crude for the audience Round2 seems to be aiming for, so I'm not sure how much value they see in the Lindberg 1/32 scale kits. Lindberg was never viewed as a top shelf kit manufacturer, and when you factor in the 1/20 scale-heavy '90s offerings and you've got some very odd, so-so accuracy kits/molds which might sell to the unsuspecting consumer at a mass retailer. Round2 is well aware of AMT's far superior brand recognition, and they've selected a few '90s era Lindberg kits ('64 Plymouth Belvedere, '64 Dodge 440 Sedan, etc.) to re-brand as AMT kits, but so far, no '70s era Lindberg kits have appeared, save for the 1/16 Bullhorn T/Serpent (which is actually a Pyro kit). I don't think we've seen a Lindberg branded automotive kit since the 1966 Chevelle SS reissue from 2015?

I have to believe those molds were among the booty Atlantis acquired from Round2.

I think something like the AMT '64 Olds Cutlass F-85 would be more likely. A new body shell and bumpers, wheel covers, a set of optional wheels, and a set of the Firestone Wide Oval tires. The SSJ Hurst version might work, too, if Round2 still has the Hurst licensing.

Beverley Hills Cop GMC Astro
Casey replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There is (or was) a photoetched set which included the larger, later style GMC Astro/Chevy Titan grille as pictured, so armed with the recent GMC Astro 95 reissue and Double Header!! pup trailers, you've got most of the work done. -
Yes, odd choice, but even the smaller 8" rear looks too small to me. There were other details which gave me the overall impression the kit was rushed, and making sure the fine details were brought out were skipped-- even the axle tube appears a bit wavy. Just seems like it was rushed and has that "good enough" vibe to it.

Both from eBay. The Lincoln was $20, so not what the reseller store price sticker says. I had a parts Lincoln kit a few years ago, but wanted to try out an idea with this one, and the (assuming Monogram got as close as possible to Prussian) blue colored body parts are something I really like, too. I may have been strongly influenced by recently reading about the development of the '41 Lincoln, though...: https://www.curbsideclassic.com/curbside-classics-american/curbside-classic-1940-41-lincoln-continental-a-creation-of-a-man-of-taste-and-a-man-of-talent/

The rearend is very undersized IMHO. See here: I can't recall if that was the only thing I felt was undersized when I looked over the Shelby GT350 version of this kit/tooling, but I was much less impressed with the kit than most people seemed to be.

amt 1202 1/25 AMT 1963 Chevy II Nova Station Wagon - Craftsman Plus
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I guess I see this '63 Chevy II Wagon kit as a tribute to the original Craftsman-then-full detail style kits-- not the same as the originals, but still a lower parts count, easier to build version is released first, followed soon after by a full detail kit. I don't really foresee Round2 repeating that pattern for a different subject, which is why I feel these two '63 Chevy II Wagon sibling kits are going to be unique. I think one version would probably satisfy the majority of customers, be it Craftsman style or full detail, as long as the essence and feel of the original is present, even if some of the minor details are in fact totally different. Purists might cry foul, collectors will rejoice, and builders will be delighted to have a shot at easily obtaining one for less than $30. (Almost) everybody wins in this scenario. ?- 599 replies

amt 1202 1/25 AMT 1963 Chevy II Nova Station Wagon - Craftsman Plus
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm not really reading much, but here's a good topic for further debate: If we're honest, there should be very little to complain about regarding the AMT '63 Chevy II 400 Wagon Craftsman style kit, and it's forthcoming full-detail sibling. Round2 is bloody close to repeating the glory days so many of the Boomers pine for with these two kits. I think people realize this may never happen again (or at least not for another 50+ years), and the anticipation and excitement here seems to reflect that sentiment.- 599 replies

AMT kits suck!
Casey replied to Plumcrazy Preston's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You take the time to read through the reviews here on the forum and other places online before buying. Informing yourself will help mitigate regretful purchases, and educate you about the history of the various model producing companies, how they changed over the years, and which of each companies products are recommended and respected by their customers. -

amt 1202 1/25 AMT 1963 Chevy II Nova Station Wagon - Craftsman Plus
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Anyone who thinks Round2 would already be planning a second, more detailed variant before the first, simplified version is even released if they didn't have confidence both would be good sellers is simply not paying attention. Steve Goldman's comment earlier in the topic was really all anyone needed to read.- 599 replies

Here are a few reference images of '62-'65 Chevy IIs found online, for use when building the AMT '63 Chevy II Nova 400 wagon and others. The intent is not to post images of every '62-'65 Chevy II you like, just images which can be used for reference when building a 1/25 scale version, especially things shared between the coupe, sedan, convertible, and wagon. Monogram 1960 Chevy Sedan Delivery
Casey replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I found the image from a completed eBay listing, so not mine. Would be neat to see Revell or Atlantis reissue it in that version, though. -
I was searching for images of the two-piece tires this version included, so I uploaded the relevant images for future reference. More from/of the original(?) issue:
