  2. There's room enough for collectors, builders, and everyone in between. This forthcoming kit is not a re-issue of the original, so original issue kits will still hold significant value for those who prefer to seek them out. Plus, we still don't know if a hardtop version in in the works, either, so for those who don't care for convertibles and don't wish to graft on a hardtop from the '65 GTO or another kit, this kit might not satisfy them.
  3. Yeah, the same seller had multiple "sealed" vintage MPC kits which appeared to have been more recently shrink-wrapped. I don't recall ever seeing model kits with end-crimp sealing like these kits have.
  4. ^This. The issue is there are a very limited number of 1/8 scale tires available. There hasn't been a new 1/8 Monogram automotive kit since 1985 or so, which means Goodyear Gatorback VR50 tires are the newest tires from those kits. They do seem to hold up well over the year, though, and can be found on eBay for a reasonable cost. Pocher has released newer 1/8 scale kits, and the tire set I have from one Ferrari(?) kit is excellent, but not exactly common, nor easy to source. Look at large scale R/C cars, too, as they have modern, low-profile tires which sometimes have a realistic tread pattern...not always, but they are out there of you regularly shop thrift stores. I found these on an Dodge Challenger(?) R/C car at Goodwill:
  5. Using the Google search method to search the forum yields good answers:
  6. Not mine, just rare to see the actual box:
  7. Those two work well together. I would strongly recommend Parts by Parks Moon discs, which are aluminium and of excellent quality, in case you want to try them on a future project.
  8. And even worse when fully loaded. Ah well, that's what gearboxes are for. ? Here's a '49 F-6:
  9. I think the kit was updated to '87 or '88 GT specs for the last reissue, so we'd likely have to settle for that one:
  10. Warped bed parts are not uncommon on this kit, especially the bed floor since it doesn't have any wheel houses attached to give it some rigidity. After you attach the bedsides it should square up and the floor should flatten out. Maybe use some long reach tweezers to clamp the bed floor to the frame rails (all on a flat surface) while assembling the bed.
  11. I think there is one available in resin, but not 100% sure. Here's an excellent topic to read through, though:
  12. Huh, there they are: And the "Parts List" from an original issue instruction sheet, showing many of the long lost parts John mentioned: Did the custom wheels discs ever reappear in another kit, or have they essentially never been seen since they disappeared from the '40 Ford Deluxe Coupe kit?
  13. Images have gone *poof*, but just stumbled across this version on eBay, molded in tan plastic. Probably my favorite box art out of all the AMT '40 Ford Coupe issues:

  15. Love the late '40s to early '50s COEs, and that K-zoo Home Appliance neon sign isn't too shabby, either. Hopefully it's okay to add some more images of Ford COEs of the same era to this topic, as one can never get enough good reference images. Here's a '49 Ford F-6 COE:
  16. Those ('49 Ford Tudor, etc.) were released when the Lindberg brand was still under J Lloyd ownership, in 2006 or so, pre-Round2. To be fair, Round2 did give this double kit a try, what, maybe five years ago?:
  17. Finally was able to buy one of Ron's offerings. ?
