amt 1202 1/25 AMT 1963 Chevy II Nova Station Wagon - Craftsman Plus
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Hindsight versus foresight. Far easier to look back 50+ years an lament lost drawings, 1/10 scale wood bucks, etc., but back in 1966 when the Chevy II Nova was updated by GM, who at AMT had the foresight to think (or was bold enough to propose at a management meeting) "Gentleman, I think we should preserve and store this mold for 57 years, because people who are kids now will be dying to get their hands on a reissue of this Craftsman style kit in 2020!" I would argue it is the tooling itself which is critical, and as Mark mentioned above, even that wasn't properly maintained nor preserved by everyone in the ownership chain. I'm sure Round2 would love to have seen every mold slathered in cosmoline, packaged complete with all inserts, bodyside slides, etc, and neatly labeled for future use.- 599 replies

Presumably, the 1/16 Revell F/C mold (and various inserts for the different bodies, wheels, and injectors) is all now in Atlantis' possession. The most recent reissue, the '71/2 Hawaiian Charger F/C, was molded stateside in 2014, so I feel confident Atlantis has everything. It will be interesting to see if they also acquired the new tire molds, too, which debuted in the circa 2014 Hawaiian kit. Presumably either new or modified wheels would be needed for the forthcoming 1/16 Jingle Jim Vega reissue, or all-new tires to match the existing wheels...or they could reissue it with the same American five-spokes and bear claw rear wheels as seen on the Hawaiian reissue and Green Elephant: -

Yes, but nothing wrong with that at all. Atlantis will have no trouble selling them out. Looks like it could be molded in the same color they molded the King Chopper II in, too. -

You've been hinting at that one for awhile. ? Glad to see it's finally happening. -

Monogram Chevy S10 Street Sleeper Custom ,Whats In The Box
Casey replied to martinfan5's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
It appears there was a considerable amount of reorganizing and reworking of the mold. The (now transparent) tail lights have an entirely new runner around them, as do the small lenses, as seen in this screenshot from Jon's video: Here's what the stand-alone tail lights looked like in the Waverider kit: And how the other transparent parts were laid out in the Waverider kit: -
Selling Car Model Kits on eBay
Casey replied to dwdirks's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This was changed years ago (I would say at least a decade ago?) because sellers would list an item for $.01, then charge a shipping cost which would bring the total cost of the actual item up to a more realistic value. For example, a 1/25 Revell '70 Hemi Cuda for $.01, plus $24.99 for shipping. It was a loophole which eBay closed, so I can't really blame them. -
How to get perfectly straight HT leads?
Casey replied to Funkychiken's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would recommend modifying a set (or multiple sets if necessary) of photoetched plug wiring looms, so they closely match the real thing. If you measure carefully, anchor each piece solidly, and match the O.D. of the wires to the I.D. (well, allowing for an interference fit at least) you should be able to replicate what you desire. *edit* Alternatively, consider using a soft rod instead of coated wire. It will bend, yet retain its shape better IMHO. You'd need to coat or paint each wire before installation, but since they need only pass the visual test, it matters not what's inside. -
Welcome back to the hobby, Ron. The easiest, most efficient way to way to search this forum is detailed here: Using the search term "JoHan molds" will return multiple hits, such as this:

It appears the old Goodyear Steel Belted Radial tires are no longer included, having been replace with some blank sidewall...Goodyear Eagle ST tires? The Goodyear GT Radials? Hard to tell in the video. And the Super Bees captured inside the bumblebee tail stripe are both facing the correct direction again, too.

The was a Jada(?) R/C truck in that year range, but I think it was 1/12 or 1/10 scale. I'm sure I've long ago deleted the images, but it was blue with large diameter aftermarket wheels, so maybe an eBay search will turn up something. Sorry, it was 1/16, made by Maisto, and was of the previous generation: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/maisto-super-16-c-custom-shop-1964-1911143520

Yes, the potential is there for those who are open to seeing it. Perhaps combined with the Fire Truck's cab?:
