  1. Wonderful job Randy on one of my favorite cars in one of my favorite Tamiya colors. I particularly like the interior detailing. Thank you for posting!
  2. I LOVE that body color Michelle. And the way you present it as a video on a turntable really shows off the paint job!
  3. Total 70's coolness, and great detailing in the engine compartent!
  4. Just beautiful Tony. I especially like the engine compartment!
  5. Thank you for the kind words Bill. It was a difficult but fun build!
  6. Thank you much Steve. It turns out this was designed by Bill Campbell (of "Weird-Oh" fame) who had quite a few interesting designs he did for Hawk.
  7. Thank you for the kind words Mark. Yes, it took at least as long to plan and measure as it did to build this model, although Joe Lange really gave me a leg up with his WIP. I wish my eyes and hands could execute as beautifully as his came out, but we each do what we can with what we have. Luckily, the model looks pretty good in real life, and the faults are not nearly as noticeable as they are in blown up photos on our forum .
  8. I hear Tesla is going to make one just like this...
  9. Hello All. Not too long ago I bought a couple of Hawk Monte Carlo toy car kits. You can only really call them "toys" because they are only a rubber band powered car. Having said that, they had a very interesting Exner-like body shape, and I thought someday I might turn one of them into a proper build (the second one was kind of hacked up and purchased pretty much just for parts). Then, I ran across the beautiful build of this car by our member @Joe Lange, and I was hooked! I knew mine wouldn't come out as nice as his, but I loved his adaptation of the Moebius Chrysler 300 drivetrain and chassis to his project, and decided to give it a go the same way. His WIP on this mashup was a huge help, so thank you Joe! First up was the Hawk body which was shortened by removing 5mm cross sections ahead of the windshield and behind the rear window. My idea was to more closely approximate the proportions of Ghia bodied Chrysler concepts of the 50's and 60's, such as the one pictured below. I also went with similar colors and tire/rim choices. By shortening the Chrysler 300 chassis, dropping the roof line, recontouring the engine compartment, and borrowing interior parts for the Monte Carlo tub, I have what strikes me as a good representation of what a concept from that period would have looked like. Without further ado, here is my 1960' ish Chrysler Monte Carlo. I hope you enjoy: And because this car looks just as nice as a convertible, it was built as a removable hard top. Now I just need to decide what to do with a hacked up Hawk Monte Carlo and Moebius Chrysler 300 body...
  10. Super sharp!
  11. Super rad build. I think I love the mash-up of different design elements best. Well done and thank you for posting!

    Paddy Wagon

Great build on a cool vehicle! I too came back to building models recently, and enjoy it as a way to reminisce.
  13. Came out beautiful David! I am always most impressed with a good paint job on the body, since that's where I myself struggle the most, and yours came out great. It has quite a Kindig vibe to it, thank you for posting.
  14. Spectacular as always Louis! I often find myself wondering whilst looking at your photos if they are of the model or if they are reference photos of a 1:1 vehicle.
  15. Extra cool blast from the past! Thank you for posting

    RUST.

Jim, your work is exquisite! However, being from New York myself originally - I must say I don't miss the rust one little bit
  17. I am always in awe of how clean your builds are, and this is no exception. Just stunning!
  18. Bob, I think this creative build looks pretty awesome! Just remember three things; 1) we are always our own worst critic, 2) the pictures we post are four times the size of the real thing, and 3) most of the folks looking at them cannot see worth a darn anyway!
  19. Absolute stunner! I love reimagined concepts, and this one is top shelf! What brand was the candy brandywine?
  20. Just great Ken, and I love the backdrop!
  21. Love it, especially that engine!
  22. Great period piece!
  23. Wow, beautiful build in great colors!
  24. Absolutely classy all the way around Louis!
  25. As a fellow Corvair enthusiast, I'm loving this one so far!
