  1. Every time I'm at Hobby Lobby, I see the quick-builder fighter planes from New Ray, like the one below. Recently, I decided to give them a try since they were on sale for under ten bucks each. I found them fun to build, and acceptably realistic - especially once I threw on some detail paint and nose art. All in all, I got ten of them together, and found them under various brand names - mostly New Ray, Testors, and Smithsonian. If you're looking for some quick slump-busters for static display, to hang from the ceiling, or even for gaming - these might do the trick for you. Here are mine from WWII for your perusal: P51 Mustang P40 Warhawk F4U Corsair (also sold as the "Scout") Spitfire D520 Dewoitine MIG 3 BF109 Messerschmitt Japanese Zero And from WWI, a couple more. This one, the Sopwith Camel: And finally, the Fokker Dr. 1 I'm sure you have noted my puerile attempt at erasing the stands these airplanes were resting on. But, rest assured - as far as the planes themselves, what you see is how they look. Have fun!
  2. Aah, the Xenia. What awesome tastes you have! My son and I saw it at the Mullin Automotive Museum a few years ago. It is BIG and beautiful
  3. Not to worry, our hobby keeps us young!
  4. Fantastic build Pico! What's next on your bench - - - perhaps the Lancia Stratos HF Zero or Holden Hurricane?
  5. Gary, your model actually looks pretty great. As with all art though, the toughest critic is the artist who created it I too look at my earlier models and notice the flaws, but have come to regard them as a time capsule of where my skills (and patience) were when I built them. In regards to the BMF, I noticed the same thing - especially tarnishing wherever I handled it with bare hands.
  6. So superb! And I totally get what you mean about setting a project aside when it stops being fun. I've been working on a Foose Impostor now for six years on-and-off myself I would love to build a belly tanker in 1:25th scale myself, but can't find a kit anywhere - styrene, resin, or anything else. Maybe this will be my impetus to try 3d printing as well. Thank you for posting.
  7. It looks like it's been in the Arizona sun its whole life. Just fantastic job!
  8. Just beautiful to my eyes!
  9. I love all the gadgets you incorporated into your build Michele. Well done as usual!
  10. Very interested in how your build comes out, and areas of difficulty. Thank you for posting. BTW; your observation about the European instructions is hilarious - - - color coding, lettering, flags, arrows - - - and it's still confusing!
  11. Welcome back Barry! Looking forward to your homage to the beauty in your driveway. Great start so far
  12. Coming out great so far. Love the detail on the dash!
  13. Totally rad Michelle! When is your Mustang KITT gonna happen?
  14. Love the color! Now I've got a new paint to get on my next visit to the auto store... Dupli-Color Dark Toreador metallic. Thank you for the tip, and looking forward to the completion of your build.
  15. Quite beautiful. I'm not sure which kit this is, but I especially like the louvers on the hood sides and trunk.
  16. Craig, your attention to detail really adds to the quality of this build. The interior details, the body line accents, even the masked side view mirrors are just exquisite. Well done!
  17. Just got tops for the '29 and '32 as they are still available. Quality was excellent, thank you Dennis for the recommendation.
  18. Just wonderful, especially the choice of colors. Well done!
  19. I'm digging it. Cannot wait to see it with the rest of the bling!
  20. TJ, your beautiful build reminded me of two cars; the first my wife's 65 Impala when we first met - that gorgeous Tahitian Turquoise blue yours looks a lot like. And second, the cover car for Hot Rod Magazine April 1952. Well done!
  21. Claude, your build made me think of an article in Hot Rod Magazine I had excerpted: It wasn't until someone pointed it out to me that I read above that the whole thing was an April Fool's joke! Still, cool drawings...
  22. Totally enjoying watching you build this model!
  23. Absolutely wonderful Marcel!
  24. BTW, spread the word; Motor Trend has also started offering "Super Street" Magazine free online as well for those more inclined toward tuners and more modern fare! Currently, they have July 2018 through February 2020 available.
  25. While I was checking the Motor Trend site, I noticed the September 2022 magazine just dropped (the site maintains a one year lag to promote paid subscriptions). In it was an interesting article about a custom Corvette from the 1960 Oakland Roadster Show called "Bali Hai" that recently reappeared. I love these oldies, and it seems to me this one is a natural for replication in scale.
