  1. Love what you did here!
  2. This turned out great! I'm partial to the color!! Nice to see what you did with the kit. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Rich, I have one. Dave was kind enough to help me out with a Franklin Mint Prototype. PM me.
  4. PayPal has a finite time limit on disputes. I placed an order and rec'd notice that it had shipped. 15 days later, there was absolutely no activity on tracking. I could have driven to his door in 30 mins. When I inquired about my item, is when I learned that it had not even been made. It was a game to run out the clock. I pushed the issue with PayPal, who also thought the item had shipped. All documentation was saved. My profile on his site showed that he was only giving me back partial refund, keeping the PP portion. In the end, PayPay refunded me the full amount.
  5. Just to let you know that I’m currently having issues with my 8 year old iMac. I have not given up the column or the auction. The Summer has always been a slow period and just when I hoped to get things rolling, the Mac gets temperamental. As soon as I get a new unit up and running, I’ll send out an update. I really appreciate all the emails of concern. I’m OK! A very detailed history of events will be provided! A lot of improvements have taken place!!!!
  6. I have Tim’s book and can’t put it down. This is probably the best researched material available for a model guy. Don’t hem or haw with this one, get it! Tim honored me by signing my copy, too!
  7. http://www.craigcentral.com/models/ab.asp Here is the link.... explained a lot for me!
  8. BTW, there is a pinned post regarding airbrushes. I put up a link to an excellent article. I would print this out when I taught my airbrush class at Eastwood. A lot of good info!!!
  9. I use a Badger...actually two of them have served me a long time. Recently bought an Iwata Eclipse. I did this with my Badger... ...the helmet itself is plastic. The look is paint and superglue. I’ll add that Badger parts seem to be easier to find in my area.
  10. If you want a vintage child seat, check with Ric Golding at SEL. He mastered a seat for me when I was at FM for a County Squire. It was an early sixties seat that hooked on the front bench and had a steering wheel. I clearly recall my cousin Billy flying into the dash when my uncle did a panic stop and the hooks snapped off. He carried the scar of that dash all his life.
  11. I still do my column and auction. If you are not already on my list, PM me your email and I'll send you a bunch of past articles and auctions to review. Doesn't cost a thing! I write as my schedule permits and I go into more detail than a mag might allow. Currently my list has grown to about 200 people!
  12. Thanks to all for the kind words! Bill: Yes, I did do the AAR using the MPB conversion. I still have that model, as well!
  13. Marzella's of Collegeville...it was great!
  14. LOL! I was on my back porch watching a downpour and a thunderstorm. As I perused thru another modeling site, I saw that they were promoting SS Sunday!Something clicked...no, it wasn't an effect of the adult beverage, but I realized that I had an old obscure build on my shelf! I dug it out.It appears in my book and as soon as I opened the display a flood of memories came back! It was the mid eighties... I was standing in line waiting to pick up my pizza. Guy in front of me was gabbing with the dough tosser. He had just created a monster street killer Monte, by inserting a chip. I could hardly contain myself.... I didn't and blurted out, "If you really want to become intimate with your kidneys, you should have dumped in a big block...not a chip! Place fell silent. Guy gave me my pizza and said, "no charge". I always liked stuffing something big where it didn't belong! This gave me the impetus to build this...
  15. I couldn’t be happier with this bunch! I walk up to them at NNL East and they treat me, like everyone else, respectfully and their product is awesome! I have quite a few pieces to build for my column!
  16. Frankly, I was going to do a tutorial on how to make the vents... it really isn’t difficult! I did this years ago when I back dated an AMT Nova to a ‘70. Modelers are very creative. Instead, I sent a note to Bob at Model Car Garage. I suggested a ‘70-‘73 etch kit to include interior items and scripts for T/A (although most items were stickers), Formula and Esprit. We’ll see how this evolves. Just note that all my shots and suggestions are preliminary. I think this image is a void that can be filled and that was its purpose. I’m hoping to do more with Greg, with the boxes of parts I have at my disposal.
  17. These vents shouldn’t be hard to make.
  18. mastercaster1@cox.net Tell him you saw it here!
  19. I’ve had a number of emails from people asking about my junk box rescue, Son of Danger III. After stripping the parts, I started noting some real problems. Let’s face it, this is a 53 year old model!!! One issue I discovered was when I took off the top. I plan on a hardtop. The windshield header crumbled into many pieces! It was toast, broken and glued numerous times. The rear deck of the body had bat cannons added and half a tube of glue must have been used. The front end was still decent. Decided to graft the front of the ‘65 to the back of a ‘63. Deck gas cap can be changed later with P.E. Sounded simple... Problem was that the old plastic was twice as thick as the newer AMT kit was. Took a bit of creative carving to make this mate and match. I did cut in a third tail light. My neighbor had this on his Vette! Today I detailed the original chassis. Had some touch ups on the mufflers. Used a Polished Steel paint. Muffs still need to dry and buff! Guy in my old “hood” had this ‘65. Had cut-outs for the exhaust. He pulled cables and had open road pipes!!! When the gendarmes came upon him, he was quiet as a mouse! These came from a ‘73 Vega built up. Cleaned up the mold lines and repainted them black! So...fear not! It’s not forgotten! Just balancing projects. I’ll do a full write up in my column.
  20. I don't date kits or people I worked with. Just a personal rule.
  21. The ball is rolling! Parts left this morning for the caster!
  22. Oh yeah....uh, my feelings are crushed! Eh, sorta' not. I really think we have a golden op to cultivate a good, honest caster, here! Especially, in this ever diminishing field! I'm quite impressed with his quality! Maybe that explains my excitement!
  23. I've been showing you the progression of my little project. Today, I had a great conversation with Greg Wann, who is quite the caster! He made my Ventura hood happen and I couldn't be happier! I had this resin trans kit of a Formula 400 based off the Monogram kit, in 1:24th. Jeff Pierson did the master for Cheesecast, ages ago! I always wanted to do the correct hood underside and air cleaner. Discussions with Jeff led to his mastering the underhood details and air cleaner. This then prompted me to look for some parts that I had from a GTO 1:24th diecast program. I couldn't ask for two nicer guys to work with, on this little project!!! After many emails and approval, I'm pleased to tell you here, that I am submitting these parts to Greg for his consideration. If all goes as planned, I will advise when these will be available from Greg and "Holy Grail Resins"! Again, pricing and availability have not been determined at this stage, but I thought you might enjoy the sneak peek! Greg can be contacted at: mastercaster1@cox.net. I hope to be doing more "fun" projects with him in the future! Those that picked up the Ventura Hood from me, can also attest to Greg's quality! Here we go... 1 - '70 - '75 Formula 400, 350 and HO Ram Air Package. 2 - '71 - '72 GTO Ram Air Package. Received many emails asking for fitment to a 1:25th kit. This is a MPC '72 GTO hood. There are mounting pins on the underside that should be removed and final fit should be adjusted. 3 - '68 - '70 GTO Ram Air Package. Shown fitted to a Monogram 1:24th GTO hood. 4 - Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner. Note: I spelled Espirt correctly, here!
  24. I couldn't find suitable parts for the Dual Snorkel....so I made them.
