  1. No date on the photo, but I surmise early ‘90’s. That Typhoon shirt was new!
  2. Well... I guess I’m suspect! Mine is long gone!!! By the name tag, you know who I am. Rick Hanmore on my right and Tim Boyd on my left. ...good times... good friends!
  3. I was looking for a pic of a couple of guys I worked with, when I came across this!
  4. Beautiful! My dad had the sport sedan. Green roof and interior. I’m looking to do this as a phantom SS, in my dad’s colors. Franklin Mint Chevelle bucket seats and console fit nicely!
  5. Otlichno! Ljubliu eto! ....hope this is correct and I didn’t congratulate you on anyone’s pregnancy, instead! Lol!
  6. Just a comment on your pics....outstanding!
  7. I used Auto Air when I taught airbrush classes at Eastwood. I tried them on my own projects and really like them. They could be cleared with urethane easily. I was able to do effects I couldn't do previously. Looking at the transparent black for tinting. A rule of thumb I follow is to use the same brand thinners or reducers, where possible. Results have always been more than acceptable! Universal thinners and reducers are OK, but may not give you the best results. Here is a welding helmet I painted... it's paint and superglue.
  8. Ooooooooo! I want to see this completed!!!! ...also tried that protein powder, on the opposite page... gave me kidney stones!
  9. Lol! That is a funny last name!
  10. 3:1:1 ...just add a bit of the thinner.
  11. It had rust...it was standard. R247
  12. In 1977, I worked at S&W Race Cars. I was building my very own street V8 Vega. I called Motion to get parts and got Joel Rosen on the phone. I explained my build and he asked where I was calling from again. When I told him, he laughed and said that most of what I wanted was on my shelf. Proceeded to give me part numbers. Low and behold, the stuff was on my shelf. I think there were a couple of items I did order from him. He in turn ordered some race stuff from me. Years later, I was asked to do a model for a doctor I knew. The nurses only told me it was some kinda’ Motion car. They gave me a bunch of pics to work from. Again, I called Joel and told him what I was doing. He didn’t think it was a car he built, but said he sold enough parts that anyone could build what he was doing. He just wasn’t certifying them. I did a write up in SAE. Caused a stir to the point he wrote in and said the car was NOT a Motion build. We also discussed him doing Diecast and if I might be interested in working with him. At the time I was a hospital admin director... there was no way, I could do that. Not enough hours in the day. At one ancient NNL East, I picked up a 1973 Manta Ray resin. It’s slush cast but not bad. Pretty complete. The name of the guy who made it escapes me, but he knew Joel as well. If I hear the name, I will remember! My association with Joel has always been very positive. He was quite helpful to me early on and I respected and appreciated that. He would occasionally send me packets of stuff. I still have my Vega catalog insert and various articles. Class act in my book! I’ve always wanted to do a 454 Motion Vega. When I worked at The Franklin Mint, I asked one of the guys in the design studio if he would do graphics for me. I paid to have the sheet done and have both black and white “Motion Super Vega” rub downs. I wasn’t sure of the size so my friend made me various reductions. I recall seeing my first Motion Nova when I went to visit family in NY. The thunder of that car gave me goosebumps! Years later, at a Musclecar meet at Englishtown, I saw a 427 Motion Nova close up. I have what I need to finally build that model! As a kid, I ordered my first Motion Chevelle. It would have been #13. However, at 16, I was well lacking the coin to do so! I did build a model for SAE. Hope you enjoyed my memories... Pics to follow...
  13. I'd also encourage you to go to S&W Race Cars website. They have lots of cage diagrams as well as back halfs. It will also give you an idea about suspensions and where things mount.
  14. For anyone interested... I rec’d my order from Greg. I have dispensed what I owed and what I want! I have remaining product. If you are interested, PM me and I can let you know what is available! Limited quantities!
  15. The gauge on the compressor was useless. I can’t complain... I got this new, $30. Love it now with the “real” regulator!
  16. Only comment I have is to be sure the regulator, regulates. Meaning, that if you set it at 30psi, it should be a steady 30. Not that it drops as you use it. Many inexpensive compressors just have a gauge. Frustrating when you try to paint and notice the gun spitting. I added a true regulator to my unit and it keeps the psi constant.
  17. Only if you like puddles of plastic.
  18. I never try to convince! Only share what I do and what’s worked for me! To quote “Snake”...floss on!
  19. I use acetone to clean my airbrush. Pour a bit into a cup, drop parts in and let sit while I clean the rest. I have found that lacquer thinner has an oily feel to it now. Had experienced some fish eyes. When I was at Eastwood, we always recommended acetone. I've owned my Badger since the late seventies and only recently replaced the o ring. I use to teach a monthly class at Eastwood and my airbrush was used extensively. Cleaned thoroughly, every time. For problem units, Naked Gun works really well. I cleaned out my detail gun after using urethane. Spotless! One caution on pipe cleaners... Cheapies use regular steel. Over time and in a damp environment, they will rust. I have an Eastwood cleaning kit and love it. ....and no, I do not work at Eastwood any longer. I just like their stuff! If there is an interest, I'd be happy to do a column on airbrush care.
  20. I had the pleasure of meeting Gene at Eastwood. We would do a clinic featuring him. Buried almost everyone in the room with his stamina. Amazing talent!
  21. If anyone is interested, I wrote an article on paint safety in my column. If you don't get it, PM me with your email and I will forward you a copy.
  22. But the funny last name guy did share! Lol! Twice! Scale Auto and in his Musclecar book! I have it on good authority that this is true!
