Well... “youse guys” can discuss vector graphics all you want. The average builder will not go there. Quite frankly, it becomes white noise to me....no offense intended, but that’s how I feel. I just wanted to tip modelers that PS or PS Elements can offer simple solutions to specific problems. I use Best Model Car Parts for instrumentation where I can. I have a bin full of their stuff and I love it! However, if I run into a jam and need something specific, I rely on the Net and PS. I have 2 designer friends that can direct me to anything more advanced, and I take care of them when they do. I do my best, on my own to get results that satisfy me. It also pleases me to see others have done this as well. Great job guys!!! I did this for a living for a good number of years. I did it very well and I know what’s out there and what works. I’m just trying to share that info without going into another intangible universe. If you are well versed in this, that’s awesome. But the average guy isn’t. My goal is to get him to at least try something that helps him reach his goal of completing a model with a new idea. I’ve always been about sharing what I know and what’s worked for me. Not being sensitive at all, just stating fact. -

For what I do, my results suit me just fine. I can read ‘em, I’m good! It’s a huge improvement over what I started with! -

True! A lot of Internet pics are quite small. I like to look for images over a 1000. Also as a point of fact, it’s hard to find images that are flat. Most are taken at an angle. If you try to reorient them to the correct perspective, you wind up with a distortion. I found this with doing license plates for friends. Shot is taken at an angle and it’s hard to get it in a flat perspective. -

I should have been more detailed. If you don’t start with a good, hi-res picture, it’s like over sharpening a a bad photo. -

On some things, 600 gets too grainy. -

Just some additional info. Find a good hi res picture to work with. When printing, try to get to 300 dpi. Don’t do it all at once. Start at 150 and increase it afterwards. You’ll get less distortion. The fun part is that it will seem like you are printing a Bible... yet it’s the size of your fingernail! -
I’ve been doing more with PS and dash inserts. I just can’t paint those tiny numbers! Recently, I’ve been working with a ‘73 Vega dash . I wanted a GT dash with no A/C. The 46 year old part was cleaned up and the sweep removed. Trick is to find a hi res pic. I finally found one but removed the A/C vents and PS’d in the shelf. Once printed and dry, I used laminate to cover the image. He’s what it looks like!

Time Passages....
George Bojaciuk replied to George Bojaciuk's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Randy, we had a tough year, losing friends. They either just retired or had 6 months to go. I live my life like each day is my last. I want every second to count. Friends mean everything ! -

Fan vs. Friend
George Bojaciuk replied to George Bojaciuk's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Al! -
After going to a model show with me, one of my closest friends commented that I had a lot of "fans". I had to quickly correct him and say they are not fans, but friends. That's how I truly feel!!! This past weekend, I was Shanghai'd to Toledo for the final gathering of the NNL. It was amazing! The best part was that I got to meet two guys that I've known for a while, but never met.... Let it be known, they are good people! Gene Mills (Geno) and Curt Zahn. I've known Curt since my FM days and it was great to finally meet these two awesome guys!

That might apply to Tim. I can’t take any credit for that as I was not involved at all! -

Ad Blockers
George Bojaciuk replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Honestly, it is terrible on my phone. I can’t see if there is a message unless I move the ad and then it moves back down. The more I collapse the message, the faster it seems to come back to annoy me. Personally, I think it’s very distracting. -
Modlbldr - Tom Kendall is awesome to work with!

All you have to do is look at the last 10 year pics of NNL East to see that it is an aging hobby! -

All is good! I see it’s a 4dr! -
I swear I saw someone post about a notch Nova for the new release in resin, by Greg Wann. Can anyone lead me to pics of it?

Use those pointed Tamiya swabs and some detailer. They are wound very tight and just dip them in a small container. I used Final Inspection from Meguiar and my fav right now is Speed Shine from Griots. I use the Speed Shine after every wash on my real cars. Makes ‘em gleam! John Dezan from Canada turned me onto the swabs. Since...they have made even finer ones. I have the full assortment now! Just and addendum: nylon will scratch a painted surface. I learned this buying 100% cotton diapers to wax my Corvette back in the ‘90’s. All the stitching was nylon. Not good. cotton burns, nylon melts. I use this as a rule of thumb when I polish anything...models or real cars.

My paint was supposed to arrive yesterday. USPS at its finest! It did arrive today Nd I am very pleased!

I sent Splash Paint a question on a specific color I required. It was yesterday, Saturday. He responded promptly and I placed my order. I never expect a response on weekends. This was refreshing! I do believe we will be doing more business together!
