My friend Jim scratch built this model in 1:16th. I encouraged him to get resin copies, which he did.

I think you have mastered this Steve. I have not had the same good fortune. My hat is tipped to you! -
Been working with a couple of train guys. This lockdown put the brakes on things... Here is a Philly diet staple...the famous "Cornbread"!

I have a friend who was a FM customer. We now go back a long time. He had asked me to do a Randall Gremlin for him. I do not do comissioned builds. Another friend took on the task and did an outstanding job! Meanwhile, I thought a nice gift for him would be a suitable display. I found the Car Craft piece and took it from there. The helmeted driver and broom are still in the works. Oh, the Gremlin pictured was built in 1974. It's just a place holder!

I Found a Good New Primer!
George Bojaciuk replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I was down to my final coat... both cans of Krylon failed. One was brand new! Both were hoarded cans. When I sprayed the final light coat of Rustoleum... the whole thing crazed!!!! I was sick! This is an old resin piece with plastic added to make a back and base. Problem was to figure what could take the paint off without hurting plastic. ELO worked! Resin only, was cleaned with Eastwood PRE. Now ready for a re-do! with all the EPA regs, paints have changed. What worked last year, doesn’t this year! My recommendation is to try to stick to the same mfg. with all stages of paint. -

Just an FYI...do not use Rustoleum over Krylon. Ask me how I know! -

Cut your paper to 4x6. Spec it as such in your print. You’ll only waste what doesn’t fit the new page. -

My real Monza in ‘79 had these wheels. I built this back in ‘79 to replicate my car. I believe they were in one of the MPC Monza kits, at the time. -

I have quite a few of Ed's (krassandbernie) hoods. I like them and the castings are very nice. -

Repainting die cast car

I’ve done one or two... Using an etch primer is good, but realize there is something in the paint that makes it “etch”. Usually, it’s acid. Once you do the etch, use a thin layer of a sealer primer. That will form a safe barrier to your top coat. Some pigments will react when applied directly over etch primer. This will lead to crazing over time. if you need any more detailed info, PM me. -
Just my advice... Use a metal duct hose. Solvents will deteriorate a vinyl hose over time. At the most inopportune time, that hose will come apart and shower your paint area with debris. With the fan still pumping, until you can shut it down, it will have coated your work area and your model in the Booth. Ask me how I know....
