An old build, from around 1983 or '84.... Inspired by an article in SAE, I kitbashed U.S. Airfix's Type K wagon, with Monogram's '81 Turbo Trans Am street Machine kit..... It's showing it's age, but I thought it might be fun to share one of my first "serious" builds... Fender scoops from MPC '69 Trans Am were grafted in... I don't recall the sources for the wheels and tires, or the exhaust side pipes.... Difficult to see, but I installed the IRS from a Corvette. Again, even though you can't see it, this was probably the most detail I ever added to a model, with wires, cables, vacuum lines and linkages added. Red velour interior, made using various widths of velveteen ribbon... A bit heavy handed by today's standards, but it was pretty cool back in 1983! Paint is, as I recall, Dupicolor. Hood decal is from the Turbo T/A pace car kit .... There were side view mirrors, but they have gone missing after several moves. I would really like to find another one of these kits someday, and maybe build it with my current skill set.

Just a simple mash-up of Mongram's Slingster dragster, and a resin '27 T roadster body, from an unknown caster, with a few parts box bits thrown in for good measure.......

VERY nice!!!! I really need to revisit that kit... The last time that I built it was the mid-1970's.... Boy am I getting old!!!!

Very nice!!!!! I have built the '83 and '84 Thunderbirds, and the EXP is on my "someday" list.

69 1/2 (?) Camaro concept - Pro-Touring experiment
NitroMarty replied to Claude Thibodeau's topic in Model Cars
Another beauty, Claude!!! So much clever ingenuity going on, that I could spend hours studying these pics... I love it!!!!! -
Basically, three kits were combined as the basis for this build..... Body from AMT's SUPERBUG Gasser, Chassis from MPC's Winged Express Fuel Altered. and the engine from AMT's '37 Chevy.....

Revell's simple little Build n Play snapper... These kits can really come alive when shown them a little love! Slightly lowered, Aoshima custom wheel and tire set, Pegasus brake rotors... Duplicolor Hampstead Green Metallic paint... Only body mod was the addition of side mirrors from Revell's 2010 Mustang convertible..

What a fun and imaginative concept... And beautifully executed!!!! -
Did you ever have a kit that you absolutely loved when you were a kid? For me, that kit was Revell's Maverick Funny Car.... I must have build 4 or 5 of them, back when I was around 12 or 13 years old. For those not familiar, this was part of a somewhat generic series of funny cars, that also included a Camaro, and a Mustang coupe... Well, a few years ago, I was waxing nostalgic about this long obsolete piece of my past, so I located a built glue bomb on eBay, with the intent of revisiting an old friend... However, upon closer inspection, I came to realize just how rough my purchase was... Fortunately, a generous fellow modeler stepped up and offered me a fresh, never glued, body and bumpers.... As luck would have it though, I kind of got caught up in other projects and the Maverick was put back in the kit closet for a few more years. Finally, the day came that I decided to dig in and just start building.... It was at that time that I realized just what a TURD of a model kit my old childhood favorite was!!!! Anyway, rather than trying to salvage the chassis and running gear from my eBay glue bomb, I dug out a reissue of the Camaro, (from the same series) that had been in my stash since the late 1990's.... In the end, the only parts that I ended up using from the eBay Maverick, were the interior tinwork and the windows.... Initially I tried to get the car done for the KKIM Fall Meet, in 2016, and I did.... I hated EVERYTHING about it.... Stance, paint / color, level of finish.... All sucked.... So, when I got home that evening, I blew the whole thing back apart and started over I am MUCH happier with it now!!!! Stance was greatly improved by sectioning the interior tin about 1/8" and moving it slightly forward.... Paint is Tamiya clear red over Tamiya gold base.... Wheels were dug out of my spare parts box... Tire are AMT parts pack items.... Deals are Slixx... A peek under the lifted body reveals the generic funny car chassis and (at best) sorta / kinda SOHC 427 Ford engine , that were shared by all three kits in the series... A bit of ignition wiring and liberal use of various Metalizer paint do help the cause a bit. One last look, alongside one of my other childhood favorites (the real car), which I was finally able to add to my collection, thanks to the Model King and Whoopiecat decals.

WOW.... From where I'm sitting that is a BEAUTY!!!!

Those are little known hot rod parts that are found in the MPC / AMT '32 Chevy Cabriolet kit... I did have to make my own flange, as the ones on this build were swiped from a swap meet glue bomb, and were missing them.

Revell's very nicely done '70 Chevelle snap kit, inspired by memories the style of cars I lusted after in my high school parking lot, back in the late 1970's... Duplicolor Hampstead Green paint.... MRC's big n little Goodyears and Keystones help set the perfect stance...

'34 Ford Coupe A/A--New Photos 07/26/20
NitroMarty replied to Straightliner59's topic in Drag Racing
I'm digging it.... Reminds me of the old 1/32 scale Monogram "Ford Screamer"! -
Another of my "what ifs".... A marriage of AMT's Piranha dragster chassis, and JoHan's Pinto funny car body, with the blown SOHC 427 from AMT's '33 Willys gasser kit... Paint is Duplicolor Metalcast Purple, over Testors Diamond Dust base.... Decals are a mix of sheets from Radical Decals and the JoHan Pinto F/C kit....

Actually, that is a '57 Thunderbird windshield and frame... A Corvette may work though.

Yeah, I recognized those bleachers.... Byron is still a very nice facility.... I was there last weekend for the Glory Days nostalgia drags!

My attempt to drag Revell's horrible chopped '57 Ranchero into the 21st century....

Simply STUNNING... One very cool little banger!!!!!

VERY cool!!!! -
Great model of an awesome race car!! I saw the real deal run at the Manufactures' Meet, at Rockford (Byron) Dragway, back around 72 or 73.... It really made a HUGE impression on my young mind (I was like 11 or 12) with those monstrous wheel stands!!!!!

Very cool... Loved those cars back in the day!!!
