  1. That sure is going to be pretty! Loving the wheel/tire combo.
  2. Probably around 15 years ago, during a Build n Bull session with my buddies, l mocked up a Monogram Model A coupe as a gasser. It sat at the back of my bench for a while, but eventually was just stuffed back in the box and put back in the kit closet in favor of other projects.... Fast forward to a couple of years ago, and I spotted one of Glen Ford's resin Vicky bodies on eBay and decided to see how it might work for something a bit different. A short while later we moved from a house to an apartment and the model workbench was packed away for a few months. Then, in June of last year, we got a larger, nicer apartment and I was able to set up a rather nice little bench and start building again. Still, the A gasser project was pretty much forgotten..... That is until I picked up MCM #222 and saw Tim Boyd's awesome article on building Revell's A coupe as a gasser... That really lit a fire under me, so I dug out my project and started going to town on it!!! Not quite involved as Tim's build, I think it still has a fun gasser vibe to it Supercharged Chevy small block was sourced from the lastest version of Monogram's Bad Man kit. As of this evening, is how the project sits.
  3. Sweet build!!!! Could we ask you for more pics?
  4. As I commented over on the Spotlight board, I dig this one SO much! You really gave me a kick in the pants to get off my hands and I have really start making progress on my A Vicky gasser!
  5. Cindy is great about my hobby and is quick to let others know that I build model cars and has even known to bring home kits and that she picked up at rummage sales.... She has actually found me some very cool stuff through the years, including an airbrush and paint booth!
  6. I just keep scrolling through the pics of your truck and always find something that I missed before. Fantastic build!
  7. Diggin' it!!!! Your modifications went a long towards correcting many of the MPC/AMT kit's shortcomings.
  8. Looks fast just sitting there!!! Diggin' the "Monster Hemi"
  9. Great looking little dragster!
  10. Big shout out to dust collectors. My first time using this site's Trading Post... Felt like I was dealing with a friend!
  11. Unfortunately I no longer have the car and, of course, it was done before I had a decent camera, but many moons ago I repaired the glue pocked trim on an old Merc built-up, by grafting in the trim pieces from Revell retractable hardtop kit.
  12. Great models of a couple of floppers from an era when you could cheer for a car that looked at least somewhat similar to the one that you drove to the strip... It also appears that the Vega's crew chief is keeping a close eye on things! ?
  13. Dad was heavy into hot rods and drag racing and the dragstrip was quite literally in our backyard, so we spent a LOT of time there. One of my very earliest memories, was seeing Arnie Berwick and Lee Smith face off at the Quad City (Cordova) Dragway..... Berwick in his tiger striped AWB Tempest and Smith in his AWB Plymouth... This had to be 1965 or 66, making me four or five years old. I remember, quite well, seeing quite a number of glass bodied floppers from the late 60's and early 70's.... It was an awesome time to be a kid at the drags!
  14. Dixon, Illinois Boyhood home of America's 40th President, Ronald Reagan.
  15. Found some replacements at my local Dollar Tree store. Found Six balls for a buck twenty-five.... They have a bell inside of them. She has been playing with it for the last half hour ?
  16. Bella somehow managed to pry the ball out of her TurboScratcher... Now she lays there and stares at it....
  17. Got absolutely nothing to do with anything here, but an older gentleman in my apartment building passed away last week. Found out today, from the building manager, that when his family went into his apartment to clear his belongings, yesterday, someone had already been there and ransacked the place. He was known to keep a fair amount of cash on hand... None was found by his family... No sign of a break in, so it had to be someone in his life who had a key. The whole thing has me sick to my stomach.
  18. A new kid moved to town when I was in the sixth grade (1973) and, once we discovered that we both built model cars, we became practically inseparable best friends. Turned out that his dad had bought the local body shop, so we spent a LOT of time there. His dad would put me to work, banging on fenders, block sanding and, eventually masking and unmasking cars in the paint booth... To this day, l can still smell the mix of bondo dust, primer/ paint, and cigarettes that was my summers, until I got a job at the local Conoco station, when I was a sophomore in highschool.
  19. Such beautiful kitty cats.... The one in the back, just from the way she's looking at the camera, looks like she is going to be quite the little diva. Be sure to show them lots of lovin'!!! ?
  20. My little sweetheart, Bella... AKA, Smelly Miss Belly. She such a loving and silly kitty cat ?
  21. Finally, after a roughly 2 1/2 year dry spell, something new off the bench here at Marty's Speed and Machine (A subsidiary of WTH Motorsports).... I put the finishing touches on the '50 Chevy shop truck.... A curbside build, using a bunch of bit and pieces that I have been gathering for many years..... Chassis, box, bumpers and grille from the AMT snap kit. The Chopped "3-window" cab is a Jimmy Flintstone resin piece, while the bed cover is, I believe, from an original issue Monogram '40 Ford pickup... I modified the driver's side rear fender to accept the covered spare tire, also from the Monogram '40 p.u. kit.... Not certain where the wheels and tires originated, though I suspect a Jada diecast. Paint is Testors One Coat Inca Gold, topped with Dupli-Color 1K clear
  22. OUTSTANDING!!!!! You absolutely nailed the look and feel of a totally modern Super Stock racer!!!
  23. To cool and totally spot on for what folks are doing with vintage delivery vans in the real world....
