My first FORD build of 2024...358ci engined IMSA racer from 1985. Build box stock with nearly 40 year old decals!!! Only added an antenna on the roof, checking reference after it was built, I noticed they had a NASCAR style window net. I'll go back in and add that later.

2024 Detroit Autorama Ridler winner
Chinacar replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
His cars look like $11 DUBs. He makes the fundamental mistake of putting the wheels too far under the car. It makes it look like the body doesn't belong on that particular chassis. He does nice paint and surfacing though. Overall I'm not a big fan of his work. -
What did you see on the road today?

75 Chevy van custom
Chinacar replied to Limeyglue's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Well done, looking forward to more magic on this really cool build. It's very representative of what was displayed at car shows like Autorama in Detroit in the 70's 80's, -

Yeah, 3M self adhesive clear decal film. I figured most of the surfaces were simple surfaces, so it was simple to apply them. I used Adobe Illustrator to design the numbers (they weren't a standard font) and printed them out on a normal color printer at work. It was also an advantage the car was white. For the black hood I just masked and painted a white gumball. -

I was on a Bond car kick a few years ago and painted some of the iconic cars from James Bond. I should try some newer ones from his latest films. Though they are bringing back the only ones in the last one

The first Camaro with the stretched wheelbase and short overhangs looks legit as a second gen evolution. Much sleeker than what they actually came up with. Chop the top, lengthen it and it's off to the races!

The most valuable car in the middle of a January Quebec snowstorm. Such a realistic rendition, great work mon ami! -

Thanks Doyle, I loved those old mural vans and a few years ago I became friends with Ivan Benic. I spent a couple of evenings at his shop drinking beers and looking at some crazy projects he had going on. He had the Cosmic Cruiser there and even offered to take me for a cruise! If you haven't heard of the guy or his work you need to google "Ivan Benic, Cosmic Cruiser". It's a trip... -
