Not as close as I thought it would be. Now, how do I find an Eagles championship jersey in Chiefs country (I prefer to shop local).
-
Carl, you have my sympathies. I felt that when the Eagles lost the last time. We shall meet again! perhaps next year? I thought it would be closer.

The Eagles won!!!!! The Eagles won!!!

those rocker panels, lower fenders and quarters on the Packard make me want to get it on a lift to check out the chassis before committing to buying it. that said the topside does look pretty solid. -

My stash isn't going anywhere. In addition to over 300 kits, I have two shelves of full parts boxes. -
De-laminating windshield ideas needed

I think flat, clear paint is the best option. You could try laminating two layers and tinting the glue along the edges with some white paint or flat clear. -

Dented Spray Can Safety?
rattle can man replied to Ferbz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would try it. If it hasn't leaked yet, it probably won't. As a non-engineer, I would say spraying it would reduce pressure and decrease the likelihood of failure if anything. plus releasing the compressed gas inside the can actually cool what's inside (look up auto-refrigeration effect), again reducing pressure -
Thank you Sean! I had seen the K-Mart, 7 Up, etc, but not the Sears version.
-
I remember that too. It was the same logo on their catalogs if I remember correctly. Part of why I'm curious about what kit they came from. I don't recall ever seeing a sears truck kit from the late '70s when I started building on up to present day. All I've come up with for searches are the Die Hard NASCAR truck if I search Sears truck and just random stuff if I try the numbers from the back of the sheet.
-
bingo on the style! If you read the text it calls out paint color suggestions for the Sears green, so I would think it was a kit. I don't know of any pressed steel trucks that you painted yourself. It came in a "junkyard" lot from an online auction at some point is all I can figure.
-
It is not the NASCAR truck. definitely pre-dates that It is a small sheet with Sears in white within a white rectangle and a few black stripes. At one end it has vague instructions on how to mix the old Sears green and a small paint chip to judge the color by. I remember similar markings on sears catalogs growing up in the '70. The sheet has no other sponsor logos, no Diehard, no numbers. Judging by how yellowed the paper is, it has to be early '70s or earlier.

I'm not worried about prices for myself. But I do wonder about the future of the hobby. My stash is bigger than any LHS or chain hobby shop I've ever been in. The only thing I will need for the rest of my life are supplies like glue, paint, occasional aftermarket parts, etc. -

I just thought it was interesting. I thought maybe it could inspire a build for someone. -
Posting a picture of the decal side is pretty useless, as the white doesn't show up in the picture I took. I've never seen a decal sheet with paint mixing instructions before.

After looking at that interior picture, It does appear to have been a stand=up while driving set-up. -

last weekend near Clinton. MO fender badge says it is an F-5. No evidence there was a seat, but then again the floor was rusted tread/ diamond plate instead of original steel. -
Holding a part to paint
rattle can man replied to Super28's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
ditto all of the above. I bought some alligator clips mounted on bamboo sticks from HL. If you are pinning a part, you could drill it for the pin, glue in a longer length of wire and use something to hold the wire. -
55 Chevy chrome
rattle can man replied to Brutalform's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would say it is your choice, since it is not a stock build. What looks right to you? Do you have a specific build style/ time period you are looking for? In the real world, enlarging the rear wheel openings would be beneficial when changing wheels/ tires, but it could also result in ruining the flow of the body lines. -
I have a set of Sears decals I stumbled on going through my stash. They are from an AMT truck kit, but older than the NASCAR trucks. numbers on the back are 5902701 and DH1026 73 30M. It includes a list of Testors colors used to mix the old sears green. Any ideas what kit it is from? I'm guessing a big-rig and trailer combo, possibly 1/43?
