  1. Looks black to me.
  2. Thanks Jacen. I've got some vintage stock car books as well but apparently interior shots weren't very popular!
  3. My only goal is to make the next one better than the last one. Each one teaches me something, whether its a new technique or honing a skill. I'm not always successful but that's what I shoot for. To set an arbitrary number of completions seems to me to be self-defeating. I rushed to finish when I was a kid, now it's more about the journey. (Kumbayah)
  4. Yeah, I would think black wouldn't work so well. Red sounds more plausible. Where do you go for reference photos? I did a Google image search but didn't find anything with an interior shot.
  5. My latest project is Cale Yarborough's #11 Holly Farms Laguna owned by Junior Johnson. Does anyone know what color the interior was in this car? The typical 'gloss gull gray' as in later cars or were they doing something different in 1976? I'm also searching for the proper orange shade for the car. I've got a can of Krylon called 'John Deere yellow' that looks reasonably close? Any comments/suggestions welcome!
  6. That's pretty cool (no pun intended)! I didn't know they made El Caminos in '62?
  7. Back in '52 I imagine they went with whatever was on the car, but then again Petty blue was a mix of what they had in the shop at the time
  8. Go to TCPGLOBAL.com, auto color library. Plug in make/year and you get color chips for factory paint. I go there to research period correct colors for stock builds. After that you can prowl the LHS or hardware store aisles for something close.
  9. Nice builds. Looks like you had a good year.
  10. What a good year! Especially like the Super Bee. All those cold winter nights must give you plenty of modelling time.
  11. Very nice job, love the mods.
  12. Just enough to make it look like a daily driver, but not Dr. Cranky-ised! Nice job.
  13. Finish with a bang, leave them wanting more! Great job.
  14. Dr. Cranky will love this. Great job.
  15. Duh, if I'd read the thread title!

    57 Chevy

Another for the engine bay, great work! Hubcaps on a race car?
  17. Very nice build. I too liked the show, so of course it's gone. Gotta love it when the hero drives a muscle car! (Nash Bridges?)
  18. Forgive my ignorance, but couldn't you build the Lawman with the Color Me Gone kit and some aftermarket decals?
  19. Nice, Mark! I don't remember ever seeing the purple car. And I love the Tommy Ellis car! Ricky Craven used to race occasionally up here at 'Thunder Road' in the '80's (1/4 mile bullring in Barre, VT co-owned by Ken Squier). He and Randy Lajoie, as well as Chuck Bown were some of the guys we used to watch on Thursday nights that moved up the ladder.
  20. Just put it away and start something else. Sooner or later that bug will bite again and you'll be ready to do it justice.
  21. Got mine today. Looks like it'll be a busy January
  22. You had a good year. Love the Jeep w/plow and the old Chevy PU with the trailer. Scratchbuilt?
  23. "Meaning no offense here, but there are model car kit builders, and then there are car modelers, if you get my drift--not trying to be insulting, but some things get compromised for cost reasons, and it's costs that drive the price you pay at the cash register, always has been, likely always will be." I'm a 'kit builder' and I make no apologies. I marvel at the artists I see on here creating detailed replicas, but I still don't have the time or patience (even after all these years!). We get what we pay for in nearly every facet of life, our hobbies/crafts are no different.
  24. Good call Chuck. I couldn't remember if the '62 still had the X-frame. When did Chevy go to the perimeter?
  25. I'm no expert but I would think the Bel Air would be pretty close. I would do some measuring to see if the wheelbases line up?
